  1. all my glass has a slight green tint , dont remember there being any markings on my screen but ill have a check to see what make it is next time the dust sheets off,
  2. makes sense to daily drive it then, if you sell it someone esle will, i guess its realy down to what you prefer to drive a corrado or a passat?
  3. na deffinatly not that expensive, unless theres a few different manufacturers offering better quality glass but like i said i wasnt offered the choice of that , i also got a quote before i phoned the local glass place up from a uk glass company, was just under £150 , but p&p was the problem so i phoned localy and was prety shocked myself! thought the uk company would of been miles cheaper , lol think the local company was abit gutted when i declined there offer of fitting it,
  4. yea but that would be the price for the genuine vw ones surely , the glass places wont be useing them , i just phoned up the local auto glass place and asked them for a price and to order me one, they gave me two options, something about green tint or just clear? something like that, there was no other options in terms of quality,
  5. but even at that price includeing a windscreen is prety insane, works out at just over £100 per hour for labour, as i dought the windscreen will be any different to mine, i wasnt given a choice of quality when i brought my screen so im going to assume the aftermarket ones are all the same,
  6. wow £678.57 ! was just to remove and refitt a new screen? , my windscreen only cost £90 and then abit more because it came with a seal,
  7. iv been all over my vr scuttle tray, havent come across anything like them, kinda looks like a throttle cable holder?
  8. looking very nice, loveing the attention to detail , going to be very clean and tidey when complete...
  9. 24v 2.8 i think is my favoured mod, although i like all my mods as they all add up to make my car mine and seperate from everyone else's, next on the mod list is banded steels, there being made right now!!! cannee wait :)
  10. im not to worried about balancing, but that being said if there done right then that shouldnt be an issue, mine are being done by http://www.bandedsteelwheels.co.uk/#hes banded loads of wheels before so he knows what hes doing and wouldnt be in buisness otherwise, i wouldnt trust any random guy that can weld to do them lol , i realy dont think theres any law against them especialy with companies like bandedsteels.com and .co.uk being setup in the uk, check the sites out, btw if your interested theres two ways these can be done , both have different prices, 1- put a band in to alter the width , the size of the band also effects the ET! but the only control they have on the et will be is to make the band slightly bigger or smaller to suit, { this is what im haveing done on my vr} basicly i wanted the rears banded to 9j but the final et would be 10 so my wheels are being banded a tiny bit smaller then 9j so my et works out at roughly et17 same with the fronts, there being done to just under 8j so the et works out at et 25, 2- have bands put in to make your wheels as wide as you want and then alter the ET by cutting the center and repositioning it suit your desired et, thats what i originaly wanted but costs an extra £40 per wheel.
  11. get some pics up!! ^ i decided in the end that i couldnt justify spending £250 on wheel adaptors, so the total price to get these up and running would work out alot more then the wheels i originaly wanted ,16" banded steels, iv now payed and orderd them so hopefully i should have them in 2weeks, my test wheel isnt going to waste either :) going to refurb it and cut the wheel barrel down the center, install a clock mechansim and hang it on the wall
  12. hammer in a spline bit thats what i do with knackered allen heads,
  13. could be aux belt tensioner pulley bearing, one way to know for sure is to remove the belt and run it for a few seconds, {dont run it for long as it will over heat as the water pump wont be working, also spin the tensioner pulley, it should feel dry and rough if this is the case, also you checked your oil level? edit. lol fla didnt see your post.
  14. you wouldnt be able to remove my wheel nuts with a standard size ratchet without haveing to jump on it, over tight or not i dont like things comming loose, or stripping for that matter..
  15. how is the wheels spinning up and the brakes locking up related to the wishbone bush though? , i have r32 bushs and they have a metal center tube so you physicaly cannot over tighten mine unless the bolt threads strip,
  16. my guess is your not doing them up tight enough, how big is the ratchet/bar your useing to do them up?
  17. cheers for the link, ill get the code tomo and have a butchers..
  18. just picked up a golf vr6 gearbox localy, thought idd best snap it up for spares as shipping on this sort of thing is a nightmare, whats the difference in gear ratios like compared to the rados?
  19. jack it up and have a look at exactly where its rubbing, might help if a small spacer was fitted?, dunno have a look, that shock might have leaked its fluid and is more bouncy then it should be ?
  20. ah thanks for clearing that up ,all makes sense now,
  21. lol if you can p155, you can wrap an exhaust, its deffinalty worth doing to keep the heat down regardless of the cars use, my mk2 golf had a 4into1 joby fitted by the previous owner and i recently swapped it back to stock becuase it hit the tunnel and vibrated the car on idle, it was an absolute pig of a job! would of been easier to have removed the engine but would of taken longer, this was on a 2.0 16v ABF i can imagine the vr6 being even tighter though,
  22. £500 seams reasonable for a repaint, i wouldnt waste my time touching it up unless they can garuntee an invisible long lasting repair at a fraction of the cost , i dought it though, you pay for what you get..
  23. nice read^ , as you have seen sanding the clear coat can be safe if done right but theres only so much clearcoat you can remove, its articals like that which makes it look very easy to do and could cost average joe an arm and a leg to correct a mistake, like my friend found out, its not as easy as it looks and in a split second it could cost you a respray, he buffed through his clearcoat and basecoat down to primer on his bonnet, he was doing everything right but because of the swage curve on the bonnet the edge of the buffer pad must of been digging in and now he knows first hand how quickly and easy it is to ruin paint, so becareful folks test things out on old scrap panels first before your pride and joy...
