  1. buy the metal vag lead tool from ebay, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-Spark-Plug-Lead-Removal-Tool-VW-Audi-VAG-VS5293-/110698906701?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item19c62b444dcan you can spin them left to right to help free it up once the tool is locked on, also dont bother with second hand leads,my advice is to replace the plugs and leads with new genuine, fit once and be done with it and never look back!
  2. gutted man, stick with it! have you had laser wheel alignment done? as that should sort out the pulling issues seeing as you have done everything else, ive been sorting out the body issuse on mine this past few months and im itching soo soo bad to drive it! cant wait to finish it :)
  3. hello people! just been preping my scuttle tray for a splash of paint so i removed the ecu only to find out that at some point its been replaced, now i dont know if its from an obd1 golf vr6 or a corrado, now if its from a golf im guessing im looseing out on some horses? is there anyway to tell by the part number?? part # 021 906 258B thanks never mind , its the correct one just found this http://www.corrado-club.ca/tech/vwecucodes.htm feel free to delete this thread
  4. ah right ok, so your screen needed replaceing anyway? so at the same time you got the rust sorted! 2 birds 1 stone ;) take a look at my thread,http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?56705-my-vr6-Shed-on-Wheels-../page4 on page three you can see the bubbles which were prety nasty!! and holes where you described aswell! think because its on a curve and the metals thinner maybe?
  5. think it may have something to do with the rad stat or its plug, its on the lower right side of rad {if your faceing the car} have a look and unplug it see if it stops, im sure someone with more experiance will post up.
  6. its just i read some where that the mk3 highline golf was 2.9? which is why some golfs had 190bhp..
  7. try a battery that you know for sure works, thats the easiest option right now..
  8. ah right, i was under the impression that the obd2's from certain mk3 golf's are 2.9L and the extra bhp from 175 to 190 came from the bigger pistons and not ecu?? cheers..
  9. yea but arent the pistons bigger in the 2.9L block ABV {190bhp} so converting your obd1 2.8 AAA to obd2 isnt gona nessacerily gona jump straight from 175bhp to 190bhp
  10. looks like you got that rust in time, mine needed welding! and extended further up towards the trim, how much did it cost you to have the screen removed if you dont mind me asking? it took me an a m8 3 hours to cut mine out, was roight a pita , mainly because trim peices were glued in by a screen fitter and my wire kept on getting snagged on em :(
  11. went abit off course today, instead of doing the roof i started preping the scuttle tray for some fresh paint! it was looking dull and i wanted to do it at some point anyway, so nows the perfect time i recon, going to clean up the wiper motor and the vin plate, which ill re rivet back on, left some wires in as it would be a pita to put them back, will be easy peasy to spray around, looking at my blower inlet in the scuttle tray shouldnt there be a filter? {polen filter?} under the mesh cover? mine doesnt, was leaves and crap everywhere aswell!! hahah looking at my ecu, looks like the C has had a second hand ecu at somepoint , £30 eh! not bad price lol
  12. i love the mk1 rocco!!! has the sickest looking back end!!!!! yours looks awesome!! realy not a fan of that grill and front bumper tho....
  13. cleaned the edges up with a wire wheel and a dremel { luve that tool!!} for the finer bits, had to weld up a couple of holes,oh had to change my gas in the welder, i was useing plain c02 then started useing argon co2 and theres a huge difference! not sure if its for the best but i'll let you guys know once iv had some more play time with it :) heres one hole, forgot to take a pic of it welded up, heres the otherside, has 2 holes, ones on the corner had to make up a peice with a curve in it to match, heres it done for the time being i had some kurust lying around so i thought ah! might aswell use it! , atleast rust aint comming back whilst im doing other things, when im ready for filler {to level with the old paint,}and primer ill sand off the kurust back to bare metal to avoid the chance of it reacting with me primer and for the filler to stick to metal and not some water based paint!!!! aka kurust next need to prep the roof, need to drop the sunroof, all the headliners been removed {had to for welding} so shouldnt be hard, might aswell service the linkages etc for it at the same time, then need to level off the paint where the scabs were, then primer!!!! looking forward to it ! :)
  14. that sucks man, hundred of punds worth of damage can be caused in seconds because of stupid little ****ing ****s!!,.a few months ago we had people {teenagers} going around our island and seting fire to cars in random car parks, they have been caught but nothings been mentioned in the local paper, i would seriously love to catch some little cxxxt! attempting to damage my car, eye for an eye + more !!!
  15. yea its prety bad at how many are being broken, check out this mk1 scirocco http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1978-Mk1-Scirocco-GLI-/160666668637?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item25687ace5d http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/mk1-volkswagen-scirocco-/120795418459?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1c1ff7cf5b and this one, sooner or later corrados will be like that, its just case of how long?
  16. looks like a safe little bunker :)
  17. just thinking, i wonder how many years its going to take untill the corrado realy becomes rare! ? and people will be on the look out for anything they can get! like the none mot and the rough looking corrados because all the ok ones are snapped up!! 10-15 years? just appreciate what you got now because in x years time ppl are going to be going mad for what we have right now, enjoy!!!!
  18. deffinatly dont let it put you off buying a corrado! there sick cars!!! and every time i drive it i lurve it!!! but if i brought mine thinking i wasnt gona have to do anything to it i would be very very disapointed! and very p155ed off! and as mentioned above "buy cheap buy twice!" this is so true!!! in everything in life not just corrados! so please bare that in mind as you will only kick yourself when you realise all the hassel of buying a money pit could of been avoided if you had only spent that little extra in the first place.
  19. uh oh! its ya mrs sneaking out in the early hours of the morning thrashing it!!! then quickly parking up and switching off before the spoiler can come back down!! {yes shes that quick!!!} best get a cctv camera on it as evidence ;)
  20. haha yea aide same here, im dying to drive it!! i miss the vr6 purrrr! but it has to be done and the weather aint exactly great so its better to get this out the way now rather then in the summer :) bit of progress today! got the screen out !, took me an a m8 around 3 hours useing a wire saw, its glued in with some prety thick black adhesive which is hard as fxxx!, broke the wire several times but got there in the end :) , going to clean up the edges and see what i got! i know im going to have to get cutting and welding as a few holes are showing! not sure if i should spend some £££ on getting hold of some repair sections cut out of another corrado as its not looking to bad! atlest iv saved myself some pennys by cutting it out ourselfs, cant imagine they would of done it for under £100, going to get the new screen proffeshionaly put in though as it has to be bang on!! otherwise the trim/seals wont fit and id rather not risk haven to cut it out again!! horrid job!
  21. money is obviously an issue and if your not willing to spend more then 1k on buying one, then my advice to you is dont bother with one at all, because 1k aint going to get you a corrado that you can just jump in and have fault free motoring,{unless you get real lucky :) } also judgeing by your questions about suspension bushes you dont have much experiance with overall mechanics of a vehicle,so the slightest problem you would probably end up throwing it into a garage everytime something happens, which is fair enough but with a car thats like 18 years old, you get the idea £££££?. now if you were to buy it as a project/hobby now thats a different kettle of fish!
  22. VW_OwneR_85

    3.0ltr vr

i would of thought to get the best out of it you should get a remap, , theres a 3.0l vr turbo mk2 golf on ebay atm £6000! 300bhp , lol buy it and remove the motor ;)
  23. cheers, aide how far you got with yours? i realy have another 3-4weeks work i recon , lol at my pace, i have tea breaks everytime im waiting for filler to dry or hit a problem haha,
  24. hi bud, thanks for the comment, the seal on the outside of the screen should just pull off with no damage {unless a screen fitters glued it inplace?} as its just a tight press fitting seal so carefuly remove it and it will give you a good idea of whats going on, i think my rust areas was caused by a previous screen replacement?? a dodgey fitter with no care for paint work, if yours looks good i would put some wax in there as that would keep water off to a degree, also remove the roof trims! and have a good nosey under them, if you see in my pic i grinded out the whole channel {pic of passenger side} as surface rust was forming under the trim, tbh if you have surface rust there aswell theres nothing stopping you from doing the same as however good/bad your paint skills are its hidden by the trim anyway, also follow the channel down to the tailgate hinges and check there aswell also waxing up around it and into the gutter of the tailgate with the tailgate open, just think like water and how it runs off the roof and wax it if all looks ok and if the paints split like mine be prepared for a head ache :( . yea i wouldnt normaly of gone this far with a car {paintwise} but the way i see it , is yea fair enough my car looked ok before but it wouldnt of lasted long before the corrosion realy shows through and i cant make it anyworse, the worse case scenario is filler and a spray can! even that would be an improvment, but im trying my best and takeing my time so it should turn out ok,
  25. last few days iv made slow progress, smoothing the rear end has taken me, no word of a lie around 10 hours to smooth out!!! prety much replaced my sanding block with a 30cm skool style ruler which sticks flat and goes with the contours etc so my sanding is prety damn straight and im happy with it... now just uncovered the nasty windscreen bubbles which for once has turned out better then expected!! i realy cant understand how theres no holes!!!! wtf!! just pitted, not sure how thin the metal is but seems alrite! just a tiny pin hole on the far right side on the curve which is alot better then what i was expecting, {one big hole!!} Happy days eh :) screens still comming out!! going to try and do most of the sanding and dirty work before that comes out so i can wash the car to some extent to remove the dust!! horrid stuff! going to give the interior a good wash and shampoo aswell at some point, also gona die the headliner black to match the rest of the interior
