  1. heat it up with a hair dryer should help on removal, to clean the glue off, use tar and glue remover, stuff practicly jumps off ;)
  2. could be a weak spot, although i was told alwhile ago that its more then likely caused by paint damage from haveing the windscreen replaced at somepoint, and i think there right because my windscreen trims were glued in, also the wiper trim platic clips were broken and the actual trim itself was held down by the same black window adhesive, so my screen had been replaced, yea man i saw yours, looking good! i also have the same number plate light rust, also a patch beneath it, so iv got that to look forward to once the shells been finished :(
  3. i hope so aide :) iv decided to skrew metalic black! im going for " more is more! " and with that, its going urban camoflauge!!! still need to add some shade to it, looks sick huh?!!!! finished off the prep on the rocker/sill aswell, i used u-pols gravitex to get the oem stonechip finish on the rocker, and im very pleased with how it turned out, once it dried i coated over it with 2k primer ready for colour ;) also decided that im not going to even try and blend the clearcoat in on this side, instead im gona do the whole side in one!!! also from the previous paint job you could see a hard paint line from where they masked off the quarter glass seal, so i thought best remove it! wasnt actualy hard to remove suprisingly and came out undamged , just took around 2 and a half hours with a stanley knife and crafts knife, you cut from the inside and the vertical section by the door shut is cut from the outside by lifting up the seal and stabbing the glue several hundred! times, just aswell as i came across some rust :)
  4. wow that is a nice find!! looks mint, haha yea im also useing the x-mas excuse to buy my myself pressies :)
  5. I need one for mine as i had to remove it, its in one peice but its stretched a little :( how did you find them on that website? as they dont even list parts for the corrado? i tryed searching with no luck, also i belive this to be the correct part # 535 853 A 01C
  6. ah my m8 at a vw dealer gave me this number for the sill protector 535 853 A 01C but says there now unavailable :( ,good luck with the house! looks like you got ALOT of work to do!
  7. just come across this, some of you may have already seen it but those that havent , Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCxbvuaOI6M
  8. looks good pal, if you want tips on how to remove the windscreen just ask, i had to do mine...
  9. rear caliper upgrade is realy is to do, all you need is the mk4 calipers+pads and the brake hoses for them as there a banjo bolt type and the current hoses use a different type of connection,{ebay search mk4 golf conversion hose} your current handbrake cable will also fit fine, the hardest part is breaking free the old bolts and brake pipe fittings as most bolts and nuts on the corrado's are prety seized, get yourself some brake pipe flare spanners aswell to reduce rounding off the fittings. if you want me to tell you how to fitt/bleed them just let me know and ill write it up :)
  10. awesome !! just awesome!! i didnt read all of it {sooray} but the engine bay is stunning!! very oem! i would love a 3.2 in mine!! by chance have you got the part # for the Corrado sill protector? i had to remove my passenger side as i had to remove rust and would like the exact one replaced. cheers.
  11. nice looking car!! stick with it dude!! just thinking about my corrado, i brought the biggest vr6 shed money could buy and i feel lucky with the fact that running wise its been realy good, just had to replace a few bits and bobs and its not failed on me once.its only the bodywork that lets it down {rust scabs}, you might just wanna take it off the roads for a few weeks and just give it a blady good service and going over! new leads.plugs, oil cooler seals, oil and filter change, gearbox fluid, discs and pads etc etc. its a good idea to check the rubber hoses in the engine bay includeing the fuel hoses!! the one hose that had a hole ,on mine was the crankcase breather pipe , it would drop oil on to the exhaust manifold sheild, for what its worth you might also wanna consider the mk4 rear caliper upgrade for a better handbrake, goodluck and dont give up!!
  12. hi, you guys seem to know about paint etc, is octoral, valspar and pro spray paint any good? these are what im useing right now, im an absolute novice at painting so im still learning the ropes but iv had ok results so far :)
  13. ah shes in primer! :) in the next day or 2 im going to have the realy fun job of sanding it all back smooth, seriously i cannot stand sanding!! im sick to death of it! realy cant wait till i dont have to do it anymore!!! almost there tho :) after the sanding it'll be time for a big clean up, and make a diy spray booth out of clear polythene sheets going to rigg up an extractor fan which will be an old rad fan from a golf rigged up to a battery, :)
  14. awesome stuff m8! glad you got it running, with the fuel pump, my old mk4 golf used to prime when you opened the door so im guessing its linked to a door switch, with you running the vw ecu i dont know if that info is of any use to you or not? but thought idd share it, hope it all goes well for you.
  15. awesome!! a mk2 vr6 conversion is what i want to start next year after my corrado bodyworks done, ive already got the donour car, obd1 which i got for £200! becuase it didnt drive {driveshaft bolts had snapped}65k on the clock and it pulls better then my corrado vr :( what was the wireing side of the conversion like? and what was the hardest challenge to get it running? cheers. had some bolts from my corrado which i didnt use, funny how things work out :) at the mo this cars my daily, replaced the oil cooler seals and done an oil change and it drives spot on, chains are a little noisey though
  16. yea daunting realy is the right word, now that ive done the welding work on my car i actualy feel confident with a welder,so its taken around 8 welding jobs for it to sink in and feel comfortable with welding, all welds get grinded smooth so neatness doesnt matter, also the main thing which i dont think many people take into concideration when thinking about welding is fire!! but iv taken precuations , like haveing an extinguiser at hand and also use a heat gel called "hot not" which protects areas from heat damage and if there was a fire as soon as it reaches the gel its out.
  17. loven those rear lights :) deffinatley want me some of those !
  18. yea easy peasy! its like putting pen to paper, the hard part is actualy fabricating your new metal to fit, with car panels you prety much have to tack weld and join it all up bit like dot to dot otherwise the heat distorts the thin metal.get yourself a cheap sealey mig welder and practice on old panels, it isnt hard, just got to set your heat and wire speed, if its to hot your blow through the metal if its to cold your weld will sit on top and not penetrate and will break off or be weak.
  19. does look nice, wouldnt say them wheels are that bad tho, iv seen alot worse!!
  20. ahhh i thought it was a switch, everydays a skool day ;)
  21. cheers bud, idd say its more time then skills, its the most time consumeing thing iv ever done! think its on par with cutting grass on a football pitch with tweezers!! well for me it is anyway, just follow the steps though and anybody can do bodywork as long as your prepared to give it the time it requires.just realy cant wait to get it done and dusted so i can drive it and play with something else mk2 vr6 conversion ,maybe :)
  22. think its about time for some photo's :) took afew hours to prep it, removed and cleaned up the vin plate aswell so it should look prety sweet once its riveted back down, checked out the part# for the ecu and its the correct one, so thats good news!! again all primer is 2k high build, smoothed off the old scabed areas level with the old paint, PITA!!! finnaly the first bit of Black Magic!!! realy happy to see it! its not the best but its a scuttle tray! and the rest of that is covered by trim peices, almost ready for paint on the rest of the car aswell! removed the sunroof aswell, next week i should be back on track for getting primer on the rest of the roof and the back end, realy realy realy cannot wait to have it back on the roads!! i miss driveing it!
  23. does anyone know if the golf vr6 airbox is the same as the corrado vr6? i wouldnt mind trying it out in the corrado to see what differance it makes as ive never driven the corrado without the cone filter, cheers.
