lol i love the animal quotes, " mine goes like a scalded cat!" "my 20vt goes like a stabbed rat!" cant realy comment as ive never driven a 1.8t! but the whole reason i own the car i do is because of the vr6! i wouldnt own any other model unless it has the 24v 2.8 or 3.2 or 3.6 six cylinder engine!! the noise is amazing!! the smoothness is amazing!! and yes this thread just turned to 1.8t vs vr6, but each to there own! if you like the 1.8turbos then go for it! ah the noise at 2.00

wouldnt waste your time makeing a heat shield for your starter motor, wont make any differance, you want to find out what causes hot start problems with 1.8 t motors, temp sensor? engine bay heat wont effect your starter motor from turning over otherwise vw would of made a heatsheild for it.hope you gert it sorted, any pics? of ya new motor? :) here check this site out, everything about 1.8t's is on here somewhere http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?2666114-1.8t-Technical-Forum-Guide-FAQs-Tuning-Modification-Assistance-Troubleshooting

best get it booked in for wheel alignment sooner rather then later!!! ;)

mk4 r32's are better looking imo then the new ones, i had a black 3door mk4 before i had my corrado which i put r32 bumper on it, only thing is, it got boaring realy quick!!!! no problems to sort out, fair enough if your the kind of guy that just drives your cars but i like the little problems that creap up with owning an old car, keeps me interested.got a feeling your be back in a corrado , maybe not this/next year but you will be :) gota love the r32 though ;)

wow thats a bargain!! got mine from german ebay, theres quite a few on there going for roughly £45-55, dont tend to see these much on uk ebay, there was also a revell corrado cabriolet and g60 kit model which both went for around £60 quite rare though!!, also brought a revell mk1 scirocco!, they look better out the box!
-
does it do it when the car is stood still idleing? or only on the move?
-
well said^, i also jumped straight at the first corrado, also paying for it! but at the cost of my time so its not that bad. just make sure the shell is good!! parts can be replaced fairly easy but metal work cant! if you havent seen this vid then check it out ;)

cheers i think the dizzy's ok for now,how much would you want for it anyway?, yea it would be a shame to neglect it because of a few rust spots which i could sort out at minimal cost, from a labour point of veiw it would rack up alot of money!! im going to ask for a quote at some bodyshops to see if i can do the prep and let them do the colour and clear, i know they wont be able to garuntee there work because of that but it should keep the cost right down if they could...

i think its 93, has a dizzy, no immobiliser im prety sure its obd1, it feels like an animal!!. ill have to check if its got an isv prety sure it has..

hello!! got a mk3 vr6 as my daily driver and it feels aLOT faster 0-60!! is this right? its just a standard 2.8 and it feels flipping blindingly fast!!! where as the corrado doesnt, could be just me though? its probably because the front end raises up on the golf maken it feel like its doing something? , anybody else driven both cars?
-
Unlucky but lucky if ya know what i mean?, from day one i brought a fire extinguiser for the car but i guess its no good if im not in the car at the time! i guess these things can happen anytime, just grateful iv never had to use mine, fingers crossed....
-
HAHA you spotted it then, yea tbh guys i was very very close turning it away but i already paid for the ferry tickets and traveld from weymouth to guildford so i didnt realy want to come home empty handed, but all these things once sorted should bring the life back into it! and ive done prety much all the work myself apart from the exhaust fitting and a repair on a burnt wire by the hall sensor so its prety much labour free. iv loved every second driveing it! so it would be a shame to give up on it when its potentialy got years and years left in it, it will never be a show car but its my car! looking at my m8s mk1 caddy that he drives daily idd say this beast has another 20 years left before it gets to that stage lol... cheers.

awesome thanks for the reply! yep! iv found out loads of little niggles with this! also the reason why it never ran right was because the maf sensor cable allowed water to flow into the connection, was probably damp for along time, sysmptom was it idled up n down and reved real low and cut out depending on how damp the plug was,i found this out when i was washing my bonnet and it cut out, then idled terribly, like johny mentioned when i brought it,he said it allways had an idle problem but was fine when i picked it up, also the throttle respone was terrible that changed as soon as i fiited the milltek with decat pipe, so i put that down to the old exhaust which was gashley made out of random bits with a scooby style back box, it drives spot on! also the headgasket is sound i have no coolant issuse, it leaked oil from the cooler seals but its all good now,doesnt use any oil ether,only problems i have now are actualy body rust here and there, also scabs above the windscreen and rear arch, also has had a gash sill repair on the passenger side which im gona sort the issues out, if you can give me any more info that would be much appreciated as its allways good to know the history, heres some of this weeks rust repair, just need to smooth it and get ready for paint, windscreens comming out soon for the bubbles but they dont look to bad, should just smooth out, {lol smooth out my axx! there gona be huge holes! gutted}
-
i adjust the throttle cable to take out any slack in the cable, so as soon as you press the accelerator it doesnt pull slack cable and then open up if ya get me?,cant imagine it to cause any problems like you have got, when my cable was slack the throtle pedal just had abit of free movement before it pulled the cable..
-
glad its worked out for you..idd be blady gutted if someone hit me.
-
oh dear im not the only one then ??? think iv done that with every car iv owned :) webby, your corrado must be in fairly good condition? if someones done a 20vt conversion, was it on ebay? as iv seen some on there recently..
-
yep thats what i do when the cars in the air and i need the shaft to stop spinning works an absolute treat!!!, also that main hub nut is normal thread , anti clockwise to loosen, and that nut should be replaced once its been loosened. also at this point it may pay to replace the wheel bearings, you will need a press of some sort, probably best just to take the hubs and bearings to a garage would still be alot cheaper then takeing your car in.
-
haha awesome! they do have a way of stealing ya moneys!! so becareful!! btw which engine does it have? and welcome:)
-
if i could buy mine again, i wouldnt of got it from piston heads, dont get me wrong im sure theres loads of nice cars on there but most of the people advertiseing on PH are younger people that tend to play with the cars!, i would deffinatly search ebay for a completly standard model or auto trader..
-
Wtf is that!! lol. cant belive people are actualy doing this to there cars!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H11E0zwI7QA&feature=related
