err just get 195's instead of 205's and say good bye to rubbing!
-
seems like ive started a good wanted post, as otherwise these unwanted shells are getting dumped when we could be putting them to good use, heres a photo of the underside section i need, i need this section from the left side of the car not the right side as shown in pic, both sides seem identical but you get the idea and again i also could do with the top window section as mine has big big bubbles :(
-
awesome! good to see its not getting written off because of a Cat and a women!. just out of interest do you know how much the rear quarter panel was?
-
please inbox me {dont post back here as i may not see it}if you have an old shell that would otherwise be scraped, as i require some repair panels to bring back the life into mine, thankyou..
-
glad to hear your going diy,ah yea cheers mines comming on nicely now iv got to grips with the mig!!. i got painting practice from doing my bumper so that taught me how to sand with a guide coat and prety much the basics realy,i made afew errors but were corrected and i shouldnt make them mistakes again, you doing a full respray? what paint you useing? im useing a 2k primer to cover any filler then a solvent basecoat {LC9Z black magic}and then 2k clearcoat, here check this youtube video out 1+2, very close to what im doing but mines slightly larger areas, arch, roof, rear valance.same principal though,
-
aww please spill the beans with the body work ;) you going diy with the paint job? or going to get a body shop to do it? have you done car paint before?, think im going to have a blady good go myself with mine, ive kinda worked out how to do sections at a time without it looking shcet and hideing the clearcoat blends..
-
bye bye aerial! probably end up getting an internal one, hello new windscreen :) rear valance rust bubble cut out! badge holes welded! ready for a skim of filler! also found a minor dent and slight surface rust comming through on the lower left corner which sanded out a treat! caught it just in time before any realy damage,
-
does it idle up and down? and rev realy low to the point of almost cutting out?
-
those temps are fine m8, same as mine, the water will rise when sat in or in slow moveing traffic, but then the fan should come on at around 85 , if you have any questions about the cooling system have a read of the vr6 cooling thread in the engine section it tells you everything you need to know :)
-
if you want stickers made up just go to a sign writeing company and get them to make them up, they'l take em off and copy them simples :)
-
i think most cars purchased for under £2k-£3k will need a good service, plugs, leads, discs, pads, oil change + brake fluid etc etc a corrado would be no different especialy for £1500 aslong as the shells ok i wouldnt feel cheated at all, you should see mine :(
-
hello, nice purchase, how come you feel cheated? inregards to the exhaust pop, i have a milltek with decat pipe on my vr, it only pops/crackles when your slowing down to a stop with the help of the gearbox/engine brakeing, its a real subtle pop/crackle not loud or noticable realy compared to my old exhaust anyway.
-
did abit more welding today almost finished it :) these welds dont have to be smooth as those factory welds wernt, they were coverd by alot of primer and sealer? but i might aswell grind em down anyway to reduce the amount of filler required to smooth it, the important bit is makeing sure theres a downslope/gradient through out the whole radius of the area as its a gutter! and you dont want puddles forming!
-
its so nice being able to work on the corrado and not have to finish the job you started the same day, when i first got it, it was my daily and alot of things needed doing to get it up to scratch and it was quite stressful haven to finish what you started the same day, especialy when one seized bolt can set you back 3 hours or so.. dry store it you wont regret it!! especialy if your corrados in good nick! it will give you a chance to sort out the niggley bits that you wouldnt normaly be able to do as a daily driver, i.e re underseal it etc etc
-
that must of been one hell of a drive!!!! thats that road that was in top gear yes? they said it was one of the best roads ever!!
-
i can imagine, iv been doing some welding on my car recently and the thought of a fire breaking out is so scary because most of the time its behind a panel so you cannot get to it! so how do you put out a fire you cant get to? starve it of oxygen i guess, but you know what i mean, got a fire extinguiser etc etc but its still prety scary for me anyways, i allways stay for an hour or so after my last weld to make sure theres no smoke still and even then im still paranoid!! can never be to careful, but still think of all the places a mouse could get to in your car and you couldnt? was it an engine bay fire ?
-
oh man feel bad for ya, since day one iv allways been paranoid about fire, percevere with it, learn from it, dont store a car in a mice ridden barn? and try out the vr6 instead? ill deffinatly bare that in mind when my cars being stored...

ok so this past week iv been getting stuck in head first into sorting out the body issues, this morning i felt a little over welmed by what i thought was going to be just surface rust which turned out to be some serious holes due to lack of maintanance of the tailgate gutter and hinge { theres a seal inbetween the hinge and body!!}but after a few hours of cutting, grinding, welding and smoothing im happy as larry! infact iv never felt so good as to whats about to happen in the next few weeks!!! i wasnt looking forward to this part of owning the corrado but after today,BRING IT!!! .along with sorting out the body rust iv decided im going to smooth out the aerial and debadge the rear, might not be to some peoples likeing but i thought i might aswell put the mig to good use! and add some of my own touchs {even though its already been done hundreds of times} heres some photos of today and this past week, so decided to sort out the tailgate paint as it was split and there was signs of rust, after some poking and scrapeing it started to revel this! doesnt look good!! the passenger side seemed the same although once everything was cleared tunred out worse! those welds you see are factory and was covered by quite alot of primer, i first thought that they wernt factory but the othersides identical, as you can see theres a few holes and tbh the paint wasnt bad untill i started scrappeing at it heres the passenger side after i cut majority of the hole pitted holes out, jigsaws comming together nicely! still need to weld up the drivers side which i'll do tomo, should be alot easier, heres my windscreen scabs!! whats the bets these are going to be holes like 50p's?? place your bets now peeps, next week i'll be finding out! rust scabs/holes welded and smoothed on the arch, need to source a repair section from another corrado for the rear lower corner, i dont need to as its fine as it is because its hidden by the bumper but would be nice to finish it off also found slight rust scabbing on the sill beneath the door, had to smooth out the rocker panel as a previous owner has had metal welded in at some point, think they hit a kerb or something, well they just put filler over it and sprayed it black! they didnt even bother smoothing it or trying to match the stone chip finish! so iv also had to smooth that and also going to be sparying u-pol gravitex on the rocker which should match the factory stonechip finish :) like this one {drivers side } giveing the old toweing eye a clean up aswell! fed up of seeing that thing looking dull and miserable! also noticed the underseal splitting on the lower edge and rust forming so i grabed the grinder and removed it!! its been primed since just cant find the pic, my plan is to get these area's smoothed of rust welded/filled and primed with 2k primer then go from there, i know what it takes to get a good finish in paint so i'll be takeing my time with sanding and smoothing then i dont know what im gona do? plan was to get it prepped and let a bodyshop take care of the colour and clear on just the shell so itll cover all the areas in one, but money is an issue! and i think i might be capable of pulling a ok paint job off! this aint no show car! ill get to the stage of the primer on all these areas and get a quote i thinks?,so heres my advice! take care of them roof drains!! and check that hinge seal before water starts leaking, wax the gutter aswell! got a pic somehwere but i had slight surface rust {luckliy} comming through on mine which just sanded out thankgod because that would of been a pig to cut n weld!, stay tuned peeps :)

if you do end up replaceing the wishbones be extra carefull on the bolt for the front bush! you want to soak them in penetrateing fluid a few days beforehand otherwise this might happen!! to fix this problem i had to spend almost 6hours on my back drilling the old bolt out and tapping in the new thread, worked out great!! but what should of been a few hours work replaceing the wishbone turned into a ball ache!
-
gutted man! cant think of anything worse then a car fire, hope your luck changes.....

VW_OwneR_85 replied to g60rge's topic in Members Gallery
lol be honest, this blatently aint no project , looks like your out to make a quick buck ;) {fair play} car looks alwight.. -
tbh i think his dad {or someone in the know}had alot to do with the work! i dont care what anybody says, most 16 yearolds wouldnt even know what underseal is let alone complete a full restoration on a car from start to finish.
-
the corrado as mentioned before in another thread is best used as a second car, i used mine as a daily when i first brought it, and wasnt as good a feeling when driveing it every now and then, at the mo my car is in a shed its dry, safe and going no where! if i was you i would find a shed/storage where you can work on your car and buy a cheap runaround for the time being, i only drive it when i feel like going for a cruze and its great!!!!!!! where i live im lucky in the sense i dont have to pay road tax{its added on to fuel} and we dont have MOT so being legaly on the roads is just a case of phoneing the insurance company and jobs a gooden!! so dont have to jump through the hoops of paying tax for a year or getting an mot, even haveing to pay tax and getting an mot i would still dry store it...
-
that realy is awesome! especialy the car spit roaster! i would love to have the property, time and funding to attempt something like that but powered by an r36
