  1. If you are after a top notch VW Specialist in London try Yaash Motorsport in Wembley - http://www.yaash.co.uk. They will sort it out for you. Nice and friendly and they wont bullshit you either. Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  2. The squealing noise is probably the fan bearings are worn - same thing happened to mine. You can't replace the bearings either - so new fan needed :x That fixed the squeak on mine - then the direction dial sheared off it's spindle about a month later! :( Cheers Mark
  3. Suspension :thumbleft: Lights :thumbleft: Give the FKs a while to 'bed-in' - they do feel quite firm and crashy initially. A couple of hundred miles and they settle out fine. I'm going to start playing with the front damper settings soon  Did you find you had to set one side higher on the coilovers in order to get the car level? I did! Cheers Mark
  4. Hmm, not sure about this one but something sounds a bit iffy. The car is lowered 40mm and is rubbing? Mines lowered 60mm and no rubbing! One possibility could be your topmount has gone on the offside, causing it to sit lower on that side. Or maybe the geometry is out of line (bent wishbone?). Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  5. The VR6 bumper (also fitted to 16V from 92 on) has different fogs to the earlier type bumper - more expensive too  HTH Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  6. I've done the same thing as Pau1 - heat-proof rubber cable tied to back axle. I bit ghetto, but hey it works They were having a good laugh at it when I took the C for a 4 wheel alignment on Saturday  Apparently a good fix for a saggy exhaust hanger is to re-enforce it with some cable ties as well  Cheers Mark
  7. Zarmans car from VW Vortex...Yummy :)
  8. 320 miles on Optimax. Mostly town driving though. Oh and the lead right foot  Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  9. Got my Stilauto wheels and tyres from here http://www.tyresave.co.uk/homepage.html Cheap as chips and excellent service. :D Not sure if they do finance, but hey just get a personal loan instead  Cheers Mark
  10. Wow a convertable 'rocco  Wonder what the acceleration is like on those 8 inch wheels ? Cheers Mark
  11. Nik - the car is this low (see pic). I've got slight rubbing on full lock on inner arches, and the rear springs seats are about 3 mm from hitting the wheel  Looks like 5 mm spacers are required all round. My main problem at the moment in the bloody exhaust banging on the rear axle  Cheers Mark
  12. Yeah my car was parked on the end of the row so alot of people may have missed it! People only started looking at when I moved it near Alexs car towards the end  The now tatty rear lights were really getting the scrutiny then  Shame I missed you - I was going to pop over to your Saxo and say hello, but then someone said the meeting was about to start so I went inside. After the meeting I had a wonder around the museum, and a bit to eat, and when I came out your Saxo had gone :? Anyway, here is the 'southern convoy' piccy I promised. Hey Nik, I was coming back from Yaash Motorsport where the coilovers were fitted - the car is looking even lower now. Cheers Mark
  13. Yeah was a great day out - but I had to really cain the arse off my 16V to keep up with the G60 / VR boys. I was more than a match for them on the twisties with the new FK coilovers fitted, which have soften up a bit due to the long run. Banana Man - your C looks cool, but it don't look too comfy for the front passengers  I took a pick of the southern convoy, and will post later when I get home. Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  14. Like Jim said - they are both totally different events. If you can only go to one then I would suggest Inters - you will still see us lot there Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  15. I'll be there - baring no hic-ups with the FK install today as Yaash Motorsport. Should be a good crowd there - a load of us are travelling up in convoy from London area (meet at 9.30 Mcdonalds car park, target roundabout A40). I'll look out for you and say hello (if you are by your car as I don't know what you look like, only your car). Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  16. I'm 33 in May - am I getting too old for this malarky? Not a chance  If anything the modding bug has got even worse - the C is getting a set of FK coilovers and polybushes fitted today  Was driving an XRpoo when I was 20 - I colour coded the body moldings and bumpers myself, and proptly wrote it off into a brick wall (going into a tailslide backwards!) The car was quite quick really for a 1.6 non injected car :rabiit: Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  17. really? That's an interesting point- makes you wonder why so many places push for extended warranties past ONE year? The ICE is behaving itself at the moment, and I had a look at the ribbon cable and it looks fine. Maybe i've got a dodgy connection elsewhere :? Cheers Mark
  18. Here's the Ice Grey C with the in-pros if you are interested... 8)

  20. I've got a D Mask+ head unit that the sound cuts out on now and again - warranty expired 3 months ago though  I guess this is not the same problem as yours though :? Cheers Mark
  21. Okay I've got the new oil cooler from the stealers - £42 (not too bad really for genuine VAG), but I notice it doesn't come with the oil temp sender block attached. :? How do I separate the 2 parts so I can use my old sender block? The new one doesn't look like it has any mounting holes on it :? Can I remove the oil cooler from the sender block without taking the whole thing off the engine? Any advice would be greatfully received!! Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  22. I was expecting big bucks! This certainly sounds cheaper to replace than the HG  I'll think I will give it a try and see if it solves the problem. Thanks for the help :thumb right: Mark
  23. What could be on it's way out with the oil cooler - is there some sort of gasket or seal that is replacable, or does the whole thing have to be replaced? :( This sounds like an expensive part to replace! Cheers Mark
  24. What does the oil cooler look like, and whereabouts is it on the 2.0 16V? :? Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  25. I was checking the water level in my expansion tank yesterday and noticed the yellow mayo stuff on the inside of the cap. Does this mean my head gasket is on the way out (or gone)? I have checked the oil filler cap and that looks fine, and so does the dipstick. There is no excessive white or blue clouds coming from the exhaust either. The rad top hose blew a few weeks ago which caused the oil temp to rise to 120 deg and the water temp to about 110 for a small time. Could that be what tipped the HG over the edge? Is there any other reason for sludge inside the coolant? Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
