    LowG's ride

Nice :thumbleft: Whereabouts in London are you from ? Cheers Mark
  3. Nice clean car mate :thumbleft: All you need to do now is lower it a bit, say 40mm  Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  4. Here's the website for Gaydon - http://www.heritage.org.uk/ Are you a CCGB Member then Joby? If not, it's only £15 quid a year to join... :) Cheers Mark (Keeping out the potholes  )
  5. No probs Joby - getting FKs fitted by Yaash in a couple of weeks, so may have the Bilstein Kit off the car by the time the CCGB AGM comes around - which might be a good time to hand them over if you are up for it? Cheers Mark
  6. Done about 6000 miles on it, so I guess it has plenty of life still left in it. Cheers Mark
  7. Hi Chuck, Bilstein do 2 different kits - the streetline has uprated and lower springs but OE shocks, and the other one (that I can't remember the name of!) has uprated shocks as well as the uprated springs. The ride with the streetline kit isn't particularly bouncy - I think this is helped by the kit having progressive springs. It does feel 'harsh' though over bad road surfaces - like the springrate isn't that well suited to the OE damper. This kit has improved the body roll of the C, but the car feels like it hops and skips sometimes on bumps on corners. I don't think I was really expecting much else for the price, and I was really strapped for cash at the time having just shelled out £750 for 17 inch alloys and tyres. The coilover kit should sort out these problems for me - and of course get the car lower  I will be changing the front spoiler to the 50mm item at the same time  Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  8. I've got the Bilstein Streetline kit on my C - It's basically the OE shocks and progressive rate springs (40 mm lower). It's okay for the price (about £200), but I'm after a better quality ride now, so I'm buying some FK Coilovers through the Yahoo group buy. You can have my old set-up for peanuts (about £50) when I get my FKs - I will be posting them here on the 'for sale' bit when the coilovers are fitted. Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  9. Haven't a clue - sorry! :( Haven't really noticed it before - I very rarely lift the bonnet on my C (as you can probably tell from the amount of crud in the engine bay) Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  10. Check out PVW this month - that Rocco is a beast! Cheers Mark
  11. 112 K - and sounds like it too! No worries though - just turn the stereo up  Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  12. Try Admiral - http://www.admiral.com They beat the rest by about £50 on mine - £640 fully comp, 32 yrs old, 9 yrs+ ncb (protected), parked on road and 3 points on licence  All mods declared. elephant.co.uk were quite good too. AA quoted me £1060! Cheers Mark 2.0 16V

    justmatz??

I ordered a set of mats from them at GTi international (May 2002), but didn't get them for 3 Months! The drivers side one is wearing out already, and these are supposed to be heavy duty  To be honest they are not really worth the money (IMHO). Cheers Mark
  14. I'm getting some FK Coilovers next week when I get paid :D I've not heard a bad word said about them, and they are marginally cheaper than the koni's. They are also supposed to be less harsh than the Koni's (so I've heard from the CGTi boys), so they won't jar my old bones so much  Should be heaps better than my current set-up - Bilstein dampers and Ventura progressive springs, which is pretty harsh and crashy over potholes! Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  15. Me no likey this Yank craze of black or dark coloured alloys. Black Carbon bonnets also look pants IMO (apart from on a black C) - the mini-cabs in my area have black bonnets! Cheers Mark
  16. Yep I'm going again this year - I've been going for the last 4 years. Last year at Swindon was a bit of a joke really - if it had rained all weekend then loads of cars would have been stuck in that field! Hopefully this year will be better. Will we be allocated a separate club area from CCGB? I know it's early days, but anyone out there in the London area want to do a group meet-up before so we can travel in a Convoy? 8) Cheers Mark
  17. ugh! I'm not a fan of the DSP stuff - apart from that gullwing Golf 8) . Nice colour though on that C. Mark 2.0 16V
  18. Worth about £3000 to £3500 IMO, but others may say it would be worth a bit less still - there are plenty of good examples of VRs around for about £3500. I've been watching the price of 16Vs take a dive recently - they are harder to sell because the engine isn't so creamy, and some think it is underpowered in a C (they may have a point!). Your car looks in fantastic condition, and is also standard which helps though. Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  19. If you are claiming an alarm or imobiliser is Thatcham approved for insurance purposes then it must be fitted by an approved fitter, otherwise the insurance company will not pay up if your C gets stolen. Most systems are very well integrated into the main wiring loom making very difficult for your an average car thief to bypass it. The Clifford systems also have a battery back-up so the alarm sounds even if the main battery is disconnected  Cheers Mark
  20. The clear side indicators are from 'Volkbits' - they are about £15 (per pair)for the crystal clear ones, and come with orange bulbs too  Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  21. Apparently it works really well - haven't done the mod yet as I haven't had time to buy the parts. I will post pictures and detailed fitting info when I've done the mod. Cheers Mark
  22. 1. Removing side mouldings - free and looks heaps better without them 8) 2. Homemade M3 rear lights - £70 including cost of second hand lights and flourescent light diffuser from Wickes  Cheers Mark 2.0 16V
  23. Thanks for that mate  Off down the local parts stealer tonight then... :) Cheers Mark 2.0 16V (with working wipers soon hopefully)
  24. I heard somewhere (it may have been on the Vertox site) that the front wiper arms from a Lupo GTi are a direct replacement for the Corrado, and they get rid of the 'barely touching the windscreen effect' the standard wipers have. Anyone tried this yet, or is it an urban myth? Cheers Mark 2.0 16V Mod Edit: See page 23 (!!!) for updated part no's etc. Supercharged
  25. The later style heater controls are a pile of flimsy crap! I've had no end of problems with plastic spindles sheering off, and plastic cogs wearing out. If you decide to do the swap make sure you get a new (or nearly new) control unit. Mark 2.0 16V
