Looks like a lot of car for the money mate. Wish this had been around when I bought mine. As I purchased for 3k spend about 1500 on it and still don't have the spec you have! Will make someone a great car :)

Ron's Blackberry VR6 - A11 VRX - Getting her back on the road
Hofmiester replied to Hofmiester's topic in Members Gallery
So, after the house move a few weeks back, I've finally had a chance to turn my attention to getting my Vortech charger fitted. Now I bought this charger as an incomplete kit, I am told the charger has covered less than 5k and was originally on a 24v mk4 in the US. The Mk4 owner decided to go rotrex. So this kit was imported over for a Mk3 vr6 project that never happened. I saw the car still in bits when I picked it up. This meant that I've got to source or fabricate everything apart from the charger, brackets and oil feeds! To my dismay, Vf engineering are not very helpful and I almost bailed on this project, but by scouring the Internet for many hours, I think I've figured it out! Also the guys at fourseasons tuning we're very helpful and sent me the instructions. Vince at Stealth was also awesome and advised me. Had help with photos from a number of C forum and VR6oc members. Here we go, big pile of parts I'm going to have the charge pipe fabricated out of ALU pipe but the intake can be silicone as not under boost. I can sort that out my self. First thing is to remove the intake tract from the car and remove (to relocate) the charcoal canister so that the intake pipe can pass through the hole. Then I test mounted up the charger, so far so good. It fits at least! Ok now that I know it fits, time to start making pipe work. I've already fitted a 63mm T piece to mount the DV in and to join on the charge pipe. For the intake elbow to the charger I went for a 90mm into 80mm reducing elbow. The hole from the canister is not big enough for 90mm and also the MAF is 80mm so makes sense to reduce here. It fits really well, I had heard that folks had trouble with the Hard VF made pipe but silicone works great. Next step is to join the DV outlet to the intake elbow. I did this with a self sealing connector from Revotec. This one was mentioned by the Baconator in the FI thread and works great. You just punch a hole with the supplied cutter and screw in from both sides. Inside: And now I'm able to join the DV outlet into the intake. Then I measure up a piece of 80mm ALU pipe with a 45 degree bend and cut to size. Also then adding a silicone joiner for the MAF. Next step is to make a small spacer for the bracket as the belt alignment looks to be a little out. Plus the bracket is touching the fuel lines. -
Did you have any issues with rubbing on these? I ask as I was running 17" TT comps and they did rub on the back (arches not rolled). These are wider and so I was wondering what they were like on the C? Thanks

Actually mate, that was a good all on JJC, it's reduced by £50 at the moment!

Grille is open, and oil temp is normally 105-110 when it's not 30c outside but I was thrashing a Boxster on the way back yesterday and saw 116c Cheers for the heads up on JJC, I use JJC a fair bit, good company but haven't got time to buy in bits this time as really busy!

Thanks guys, 16 row was my plan. I don't use the car much in winter (garaged) and I have heard the charger warms things up quickly as the V9 is plumbed into the cars oil system.

If you look back through my gallery thread there are quite a few more, plus a link to the picture that inspired me on these wheels too. -
Going to fit my V9 charger next week but in this hot weather I've been getting oil temps as high as 116c and so I'm thinking of fitting an oil cooler too while I'm at it. Seen this one on eBay and the parts look decent. What do you guys think? http://bit.ly/1cnijXE Cheers Ron

I bought the last one in stock at the factory back in March :) You'll be looking for second hand mate. ---------- Post added at 6:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 6:09 PM ---------- Ebay has one new http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121074269182?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 But mega bucks, I paid £55 -
Going to fit my V9 charger shortly and need to remove and tap the sump. Wondering if it is best to buy a new one as I've seen some Elring branded ones for sale from Topran (Germany) There are two kits, one with a rubber gasket and one without. Is it better to seal the sump with sealing compound or to use the gasket? Difference is price is about £20, anyone know how much the VW sump sealant is to buy? Cheers Ron

Strong coolant smell with interior fan set to 4

Just a quick update on this......turned out not to be the big panic first assumed. I tested the matrix based on the feedback you guys gave me. Ran it hot, all flaps closed and heater off. Then ramped it over to hot, all flaps open and not a wiff of coolant. Spent about 10 mins sniffing around the vents but smell nothing. Then removed the carpet at the front and found nothing. So went back to the engine looking for leaks and found it, bottom hose to the rad is leaking but only under alot of pressure when very hot. Thank F*** for that :) -
Changing heater matrix without removing dash?
Hofmiester replied to Hofmiester's topic in Engine Bay
I suppose I could always try it and then if its a no go, remove the rest of the dash -

A Corrado owners work is never done eh? :) Bugger is I am moving house next week so all systems are go on that at the moment, upside is new house has a double garage and so plenty of room to dismantle the car in. Any recomendations on the brand of matrix? ECP have them for £30 http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_2.9_1994/p/car-parts/car-cooling-parts-and-car-heating/heating/heater-matrix/?214440011&1&dc6ad0bfc020aaeb4a7821075224885258ca5dc9&000189 ---------- Post added at 1:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 1:46 PM ---------- Also, is there a DIY anywhere? -
Strong coolant smell with interior fan set to 4
Hofmiester replied to Hofmiester's topic in Engine Bay
Thanks for your help guys, and for this advice on testing. My gut feeling is that the Matrix hasnt been done for a long while. When I bought the car is has a fully stamped up history book and meticulous receipts from 2005 to now but any receipts from before 2005 are missing and I have nothing for a Matrix in the existing lot. On the plus side, my heater controls dont turn on the fan direction dial and so its a good oportunity to strip it all down and figure it out. Bummer though as I was banking on my next big job being the fitting of the supercharger :( -

Hmmmm, better bloody not be the matrix.....that is an absolute bitch of a job :( This has Bly just started since the Samco's went on. Might have a leak somewhere? Need some bloody time to get her on ramps. Bang goes my time for fitting the charger again! ---------- Post added at 10:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:38 PM ---------- Wondering if I should bypass the matrix until I have more time to investigate.......last thing I want is boiling hot water pouring all over place, including my legs.
