The only thing to watch out for is moisture gets under it from cold or rain. This can speed up rust etc. I know some people use covers, however my father in law is the painter at a classic car restoration and service company. They discourage covers for this reason. If you do use one, it would be ideal to remove, start and run occasionally to dry it out. The way they look at it is, if you dont use one rain will get on to the outside as a car is designed to and get it dirty, however covers cause sweating and moisture in places there should not be, which should be avoided

Keep it. You will wish you had if you sell it. Store it well then when you drag it out in a few years you will be glad. Plus if you break it in 4 years because you change your mind you will get more money as there will be even less of them about :-)

Father in law paints classic cars for living. I preped he painted it as favour. Won't tell you it only cost £80 to prep and paint. Got fleeced with wheels and coilovers though.

Think I have a de-badged 4 slat grill in garage, or were you after badged one.

Bearings are checked for play when you have a MOT but with older cars it sometimes pays to check everything over once purchased, as you never know what sort of person worked on it last. All the driveshaft bolts were loose on my VR when I bought it last year.

Apparently normal, I just spoke to them.......IE......they aren't made for the scrawny snake hipped low waisted fool that we see making our country look stupid and untidy

Difficulty changing gear under very hard acceleration
Human Joist replied to timmaaah's topic in Drivetrain
There is a guy on this forum that got hold of polly inserts to go in your front and rear mounts. He has sold loads of them and got good feedback. You keep the outer shell and drop the polly in. The kit comes with new bolts and washers and there is a thread for it. I will bump the thread up now. I got a set but it's still sat in garage to do over winter. It was something like £65 for them, so you would only need a gearbox one then. It's been bumped bud. If your not sure as I wasn't, have a read on the hole lot, it helped convince me. The guy with the mounts is 24V Renshaw -
Just having a hunt and found few pictures of the week I took off work last year to paint the car. This is the first one I took, while I was trying to decide if I was going to do it or break for parts These are the other few taken over the week Then earlier this year for its first little meet, got allot of attention, mostly from my boy in the red top. Got ya. Just taking the newer version for an upgrade on the earlier models ?

Just be gentle on sunroof and try and put some hot water down it as well. Be very careful as you don't want another hole 😜 lol

Genuine should be fine as that was what was in before. But would be interested to hear more from Davidwort about what coilovers would prefer.

Hate to say it bud, but when it comes to the bushes you do get what you pay for. I would take them back tell them what's happened and get a refund. Then get genuine ones, the originals lasted for nearly 20 years so you should be good for a while. When I bought my VR it had just had new drop links. Non genuine. They failed after 200 miles or so. I went to Eurocar Parts and got OE spec and you can see the difference when you hold them together and look at the quality. The cheap ones looked like they had been built by someone who had not seen one before and it was being described to him offer the phone. Even if your coilovers are not that harsh, they are still much firmer than the standard boat ride they came on so there will be more strain. If you have a VR there is also a hell of a lot more weight. That's if they gave you the right mounts too.

I know it sounds doom and gloom, but bet its only a small rubber bung or blocked sun roof channel that's causing it. Don't let it put you off to much. Persevere and I am sure you will find the issue.

Yeah the KW's are very good, I was not sure before fitting them. The wheels are et25 from memory and they are 8x16. They were very well priced only £420 delivered. Had to get a 10 mm spacer on the front as they caught on the brake carrier. But the company gave me some hub centric spacers for free as a way of saying sorry for the problem. Your right I will ask VR6 as he surly owes me one after the name change. I take it Jim would have been to complicated. Lol

Tell me about it. It's sits in the garage and hardly gets used with this summer

I like Mr Joist. Right Bill Cor why dont we get you changed to Cobb Rill or if you dropped the C you could be Brillo

No one answered the hole you mentioned in the passenger footwell. That could well cause the problem. Do you get water ingress when driving in the rain or when its sat in the wet. I have seen more water in a car from the same sort of size hole. It's a pain but a good idea would be to leave the carpet out of the car and all but the drivers seat and then use it in the wet. You may see where the water comes in from. Try talcing the base and the sides of the car without carpet at least you will see where gets we first if its a running down leak. Also check the drain holes from the sunroof, if you have one. There are two channels, one each side. They run to the back of the car and the pipe sticks out behind the bumper. You could let water run down them and it should drip from behind the rear bumper. But plug that hole as it should not be there. Also two other places to check are under the car I case you have lost a grommet from there and inside the rear arches to ensure you have not rot holes lurking in there that allow water in when driving in the rain.

I know the feeling. A bloke at work got me on to Christmas port the other year. Without sounding like a 32 going on 50 year old it was good advice now. Have an expensive bottle of 83 vintage readying for the day.

It's funny you should say that. Got the rocker cover and intake manifold powder coated earlier this year. Might renew the rear axel bushes over winter. If I do will get the rear beam powder coated and possibly few other bits such as fuel tank straps while there. Anyone know how I get this thread bumped to gallery, think it would be better suited there as got some more pictures to upload.
