pic of my nearly finished make over (updated pics)

Nice one mate.. they really suit your Golf and IMO are better than the D90's you had before 8) -
Porsche mirrors look good but will require drilling into the doors again to mount them - have a look in A20 Lee's gallery for this, standard look good too IMO... If you don't want to make new holes in your doors I think you'll find you're limited as to what you can do... either keep what you have or put M3 mirrors on (they look awful though) Alternatively you could take them off all together for that ultra smooth look or maybe just leave the drivers side on there?
-
Not keen on them either to be honest - they'd prob look OK on a silver or a white car though!?! You could tint the lower half red though and they'd look great imo...
-
The stripes were done about 1mm wide and I used Halfords 'go faster stripes' - thin black vinyl tape the lines are virtually undetectable - which is also helped by the lacquer... I'm yet to fit them on mine as I have the FK's aswell - so will prob end up just selling them!

New member looking for advice on what type of Rado to buy
Phil K replied to mk4steve's topic in General Car Chat
why's that  -
Just don't store it in the armrest again eh Henny ;)

gradeAfailure and myself did ours and striped the indicators when spraying to leave thin orange lines. After this we took the masking off and gave them a further couple of coats. with white bulbs they do flash red but if you paint the bulb green they do flash orange. Don't ask me how or why this happens as I don't have a clue - I've studied photography and know a lot about filtration but this is beyond me

Found the pic I was looking for - the sticky up things are spaced further apart and look much better IMO however this is on an early bonnet so may not work on the late one :? Pic taken from Tempest's Germany thread

Thats quite possibly it.. just another thought - you'd have to put this on for shows or driving on hot days only otherwise water will get trapped in the bra and existing stone chip will start to rust like crazy! Also could the constant fitting and removal of these end up scratching your paint?
-
Why is HIC's post count on zero?
-
Does anyone know what the weird sticking up things on the bra are for? Am sure I have seena better looking example... will have a search!
-
nice looking C 8) think it would benefit from a smaller front plate though (not legal though - so show use only ;) )

you may find TT seats sit too high so will require some modifying... I'd go for a M or a N (if you can find one) reg VR tbh -

Yeah, this is budget dependent - both the VR and G60 are both good contenders although you'll be able to buy a younger VR as the G60 run finished in '92ish (or then abouts - correct me if I'm wrong) Welcome to the forum BTW - hope you find a good one 8) -
Gutted for the owner... that Golf looked like it's had a lot of work/money gone into it! I swapped the ignition barrel in my mk1 Golf, took it for a test drive and had to stop as it started smoking badly! Turned engine off and luckily it stopped... towed it home to inspect the damage - which had burnt most of the ignition wires and had also got the indicator stalk! Not good but gave me a reason to upgrade to the mk2 Golf wiper/indicator stalks 8)

Here's how they look top tinted black... not so keen on them myself - all reds are better IMO! If you do tint them (red or black) make sure you thoroughly clean the lens of all grease (some people sand down the markings too) and spray in a dust free environment. Give them very light coats (until desired tint is acheived) and allow them to dry before applying the next... finally give them a coat of lacquer to give them a factory looking shine (don't cut or polish the lacquer for 2 weeks after spraying) 8) Hope that helps

I'm realy not keen at aaaaaall!!! you can get some nice retro rims and they nearly always look good on a mk2 but these just don't do it for me...
-
I'm not sure on these tbh... they do kind of suit the C but look like they will be a nightmare to shut once your sitting in the car - unless you have a 'nice' peice of rope hanging from the rear of the door card :? (Bally - deleted double post for ya ;) )
-
I would have thought so... the runners will be the same on both Recaros and the standard VW seats except you'll have to unplug the wiring loom for the electric movement on the R's!

These bumpers are really growing on me... rear badge is easy to get off - open boot and feel round the back of the badge for the 2 locating pins... push on these from the inside while using a screwdriver or similar to pull free from the outside (cover blade with masking tape to stop it scratching your paint) Be careful when refitting as it's easy to dent the rear pannel by pushing too hard - I found out the hard way (not that anyone would notice - it's one of those tiny dents that you'd never spot unless you look at exactly the right angle) Good luck

Thats looking very nice mate... how easy is it to fit the alu bezel rings on the clocks? Am planning to get some for mine - I've put silver bolts into my momo boss which will compliment them well 8)
