Cheers for the help chaps... it will go back! It has to be serviced and checked by them after the first 1K so I'm planning to let them know about the issues durring the week and see what they want me to do... Oh yeah, one more thing... my MFA reads 4.1 mpg when reset at 80!!! I'm fairly sure that it isn't using that amount of fuel as I'd have had to put a hell of a lot of petrol in to have done the 330+ miles covered so far... any ideas - could this be a vacume pipe lose somewhere or just a case of having to reset the mfa?

bump....
-
Oh yeah - the other problem is with the hand brake light which flickers under aceleration... I assume this is just a lose wire but if anyone has any ideas as to where I may find it that'd be really great 8)

Passat track suit... does that come in burbury? (spelling)

It's a new bottom end with a rebuilt head.. all the ignition components are what I had orriginally although sparks and leads were changed about 2 or 3 months before if came off the road at the begining of last year :?

Well as some of you may be aware NGU is home at last with new engine and now the running in period has started... I've covered 80 miles so far (940 to go  ) I have been driving carefully and not racing the engine and the revs haven't been taken over 4K but during this time it's showed a few problems: - If the revs get to 4K it misfires quite badly - Once warm, the engine hunts at idle and other times the idle drops to 500rpm... when this happens it loses power when trying to pull away - This morning it took a while to start Not having run in an engine before I don't know if I'm being paranoid or should just chill and expect it to sort it self out as it builds up the miles... I expect the hunting and drop at idle is to do with the ISV but could this also cause the loss of power? And as for the miss fire at 3900 - 4K well that just worries me big time!!! Any thoughts much appreciated Phil

Merrow tires in Farnham mate... I'll give you a bell bout this later 8)

Couldn't you just paint the bulbs red?
-
this is looking very nice and has just become one of my favorite C's 8) Did you have the seats and cards trimmed in leather? It looks brand new!!!

I got my tinted plates from E38 last summer for a total of £25 8) I have the contact number for them somewhere will have a look and post it as and when I find it... HTH

Lets just say... you had a ticket issued and by the time you got back to the car some of the local kids had whipped it off your C (as they obviously recognise a quality car that shouldn't be decorated with bits of paper)... you get back unaware there was ever a ticket there and thus don't pay! Over a year and a half later the council send the heavies round to take your hoover / dyson - what ever your preference (cos everything else you own is "borrowed / rented / not yours - honest ;) ) This is obviously the first time you have heard anything about a ticket - so, would you have a leg to stand on (or a hoover / dyson to prop your self up with)...?

What a shame... wonder who's had all the parts and what happened to it for it to end up there?
-
Looking sweeeeeet 8)

I was quoting from Lock Stock and two smoking barrels... I don't have any major issue with them - but you have to admit a lot of them are jobsworths that like to think they are important...
-
The last one I got was about 2 years ago - never paid it and haven't heard anything more about it either... pretty lucky I guess 8) "I f'kin hate traffic wardens"

no probs with my FK's either.. line up well and don't steam up! Top tip - you can use the OE bulb holders - they just push in (or you can trim a small peice off the rear of the lens and they clip in too) 8)

I WAS absolutely pig sick of my car....not now!!!
Phil K replied to PhatVR6's topic in General Car Chat
sounds like you've had a good blast today with it mate... it's good to hear that it has restored your faith in the project! Look forward to seeing this someday 8) -
VR6 tractor with nos, sounds nasty mate - was the driver OK? Pics would be of interest though ;) I cleaned a years worth of crap from under my spoiler...
-
Bugger - thats bad news mate... good luck getting your C sorted out! will this have to go on your insurance?
-
Great idea for a how to thread... Will black centers be forming part of this refurb 8)
-
I'd be very careful using a jet spray... it's maybe a bit too powerful for the gaskets and wires dotted about the bay! I know a mate of mine recently had his bay steam cleaned for £15 - top job and everything still works 8)

Cheers for the comments guys... Jim you're right, I'm really pleased with the way the wheels look on the C - I was unsure about them until I fitted them but now they're on I'm chuffed... Just have to decide if I want to sell the BBS now (no point having them if I'm not going to use them!) EDIT: Just though I'd add another pic - for page 2 8)
-
Put new new wheels on, changed headlight bulbs back to the nice day light ones that the MOT center wouldn't pass it with, washed it, tuned steering wheel anticlockwise a notch to get it to sit straight, and drove round the block a couple of times grinning :D It's great to have her home 8)
-
I wish it was... I have no road tax atm so have to leave it at home  It will be along for the meet next month though 8) I can't stop looking at it - it's like having a new car again :D
-
It's home - very pleased, engine sounds so sweet... just got to run her in now!!! New rims went on today - they some how make it look lower 8) To come in the next few weeks... 60mm drop (thanks furki), stereo (amps and sub), tinted plates, full valet and various other tweaks :D
