  1. There was no way I was going to cut the loom on mine! You will find that the bulb holders fit in the back of the lights! Mine are held in place with tape and I've never had a problem... I do believe you can dremmel (sp) the back of the lamp to get the original bulb holder to clip in too but I haven't bothered... The only slight snag you'll face using the OE bulb holders is that you have to force orange bulbs into the holders as the pins are in the wrong place - small price to pay for not hacking up your loom IMO 8)
  2. Mate I know how you feel.. bought mine and drove it in between probelms for 6 months... then it came off the road for 2 years and has cost me over £4.5K to sort out with a new engine and stoopid mechanics that don't know their ar$e from their elbow... it is now sorted and has been fine for 3 months (although an ABS speed sensor has just given me the finger so it's still not fault free  ) Bottom line is I never expected a 10 year old car to be perfect but I certainly didn't expect the problems I had! Parts do fail and it will cost you money to keep it on the road... take it on the chin and put up with it or buy a modern car and enjoy ''low cost'' motoring... Good luck with it anyway :D
  3. Don't think that's right tbh... if your C is M reg then you can't put any reg on newer than an M...
  4. Wouldn't V2.9 COR be better? Also, you couldn't put a 'V' reg plate on a C as it's too old!
  5. get some autosol on there to get it buffed up nice 8)
  6. At least it's not a gay colour and has alloy's... there's got to be a positive side to it! You just need to get yourself a siver tint strip with motorsport written over it and some neon lights now
  7. Even with a decent can of tint you'll get a matt finish mate... you need to leave it to set, rub it down with very fine wet and dry or cutting compound and then spray a clear coat laquer to get the shine 8)
  8. Good luck... bet you won't be able to think of anything else all day!
  9. I'd get the oil pump checked... had a similar problem with mine a couple of years ago but when mine went it dumped oil all over my car park (3 times  ) Good luck
  10. Doesn't look bad but considering the current market the price is at the highish end imo... if you can get it for around £4.5 or less and it's hpi clear then it's probably worth going to have a good look at! I'd want leather at £4900 :? Let us know if you go see it...
  11. Nealy all have the Karmann badge although lookig at Auto Trader and the like some people take this to mean it's some kind of 'special' edition... I have a feeling the campaigns didn't get the badge as it's all covered up with leather! I have known people to get hold of a/c out of broken cars and retro fit it with out problems - I think you just have to make sure you get a complete kit to make fitting as easy as possible...
  12. I stand corrected! The oldest VR I've been in was a K plate but still had the late interior so I assumed that they were all like that... have seen 2.0 16V late shape with the early interior along with the late J plate G60's so I guess it's not too much of a suprise to learn that!
  13. Welcome to the forum Tom! I'm sure no one on here will try putting you off buying a VR 8) Old and new shape C's have been mentioned above but you don't need to worry about this as the VR was launched at the time of the new body/interior so all should have that spec - unless you buy one thats been converted... My advice would be too go for one with as many options as you can find for your money i.e. leather and aircon! Aircon was never a factory option on the C so was dealer fit only in the UK tbh there aren't any other options I can think of... so good luck with your search - there's still a few peaches out there 8)
  14. Couple more pics from No Rice last week :D Have some from Inters on their way...

  18. What width are you rims?
