Ooops bugger... damn pigeons  take it you've seen the thread about RAC fittings and free body work modification :? Have you spoken to your insurers to see if they can do anything to help? They may take £200 off you but then say that they will give you cover in future...

Yeah this would be a good group buy if you wanna sort something out... I'm keen on the blue too 8)

I'm part Canadian... waiting to get dual nationality then plan to visit to see if I wanna stay! It's one of those things that I really must get around to doing - have loads of family out there... in fact my great great great (or something) grand pearants were the first people to cross Canada in a horse drawn covered waggon 8)

Why not check their website or give them a call on +(44) 01460 242294 Oh, and then update this thread with what they are doing as I'm after a chrome badge too ;)

I think a Cat 1 is a Thatcham approved alarm and an immobiliser and Cat 2 is just a Thatcham approved immobiliser... could be wrong though :)

Thats rough :?

I thought they recalled all BM's for the indicator fault?

Thank you... I didn't want it to look like it wasn't stock tbh - even thought about having it come out at the same angle as the stock pipe does but didn't want to chance it in case it looked dodgy! It is a bit too loud for my liking at the moment but it's going back next Friday to be made a bit quieter 8)

Well after the centre section of my standard system disintegrating 2 days before e38 I decided it was time to upgrade to stainless! Especially when VW wanted £158 for the centre section  So... the new system was fitted by Top Gear Performance in Basingstoke and is from the cat back. They did an absolutely top job for me and even put in a straight through stainless section (for free) the week before it was booked in just so I could get to e38 8) Top Gear build custom systems and you can choose exactly how you want it i.e. how loud and what type of tip you want... I was even able to say how I wanted the tip to sit in the bumper cut out (which was done just right) and I can honestly say that I have no knocking at all 8) Matt, the guy who fitted it all for me also has a C which started life as a G60 but now has a VR under the hood... very much a work in progress car but will look fat when he's finished! Matt said that they get a lot of VW's in for systems which he prefers to fit himself so he can be sure of a quality fit... A full custom cat back will cost in the region of £350 or they can do a back box for £180 / centre box £150 Contact: Top Gear Performance Basingstoke 01256 472150 or Top Gear website Some pics of mine... (car is filthy  )

Congrats matey... beer soon?

Mine is sitting 60mm lower and I can't say I've had too many scrapes in the last few weeks - although the corners of my colour coded splitter have deffo lost more paint and cracked more the few times I have scuffed it! If you're rfairly careful then 60's fine 8)

Have noticed that the window rubbers differ slightly at the lower trailing edge on the V early doors... might be worth keeping an eye on this
-
Both the lenses look fine to me too... would put money on it being the bulb - either on it's way out or poorly fitted :? Good luck getting it sorted
-

AFAIK the silver badges are no longer available from the stealers but you can get primered ones then have them spayed to match your car (which looks better IMO)

Biggerbigben - Golf sold.. another new project!
Phil K replied to biggerbigben's topic in Members Gallery
Would love to do some shots of your car sometime mate... as for your wheels don't worry about them being clean - can be easily sorted in photoshop ;) -
don't the dealers supply them with '3M' sticky pads?
-
It's only a few of the slam pannels that have both types of fixing holes which were done during the cross over period AFAIK...
-
That looks like it could be good fun... shame it doesn't get the GTI black grill bumper thing though :?
-
You would have to mark the mounting points before you remove the strut or you will lose the settings AFAIK... we did this when doing randal's top mounts a few weeks ago - worked well... I'd save the £40 and do it yourself - it's all fairly straight forward 8)
