what condition is your spoiler in mate cos i have cracked mine and wouldnt mind a replacement 90mm one
-
right then cars with active spoilers...... lemme think chrysler crossfire, Mitsi 3000GT/GTO, McLaren Merc SLR, various prosche's, Toyota Supra (all been mentioned) there is also the Golf R32 but thats not a 90's car.......... so i rekon its gotta be the McLaren F1 that has the active spoilers and a briefcase in the dash! ;)
-
i think that you can change the hubs to VR6 ones and that should do the job.... dont rely on just my opinion tho cos i have been out of the loop for a bit and cant remember but i remember something like this as well as people wanting to put TT alloys on them
-
well it doesnt look like its an air leak now cos i have set the boot to be locked using the little arm behind the facia inside the bootlid that is attached to the locking pump. i then unplugged and re-plugged the drivers door handle into the multiplug and hey presto the boot unlocks! does that mean that if i get the alarm fitted i should be ok?
-
right im getting somewhere! when i pull the multi plug out on the drivers side for the central locking i can hear the pump going...... is it in the boot somewhere? gonna check the tubes next to see ifthey are split
-
now thats the wierd thing! when i first put the drivers handle on i did connect up the cabling but when i went to lock the car, initially it would lock and be ok.... then it would lock and unlock itself about 15 seconds later, then packed in altogether! just tried what you suggested and it looks like im gonna have a problem when i get the alarm fitted...... i might rip the door cards out now and take a look to make sure everything is connected up ok also where is the central locking pump cos i may take a look at that too cheers
-
Gav, the problem started when the drivers door handle broke and i replaced it but it then never locked from teh drivers side?!? after that it did used to lock from the passenger door until i recently fitted a passat rear door handle. now the car doesnt lock from the drivers side or the boot and i dont hear the pump or anything and obviously i cant try the passenger side cos the lock has gone now. the car doesnt have any alarm or immob fitted to it at all and never has done which is why im eager to get one done asap! cheers,
-
hmmmm, i dunno if im going to be able to get this done tomorrow now cos it appears that my central locking problem could be worse than i thought! i cant even hear the pump working now :( some of em have said that they can look at this for me as well?

hi everyone, i hve been doing some enquiries into alarm systems and fitters in my local area and i have been given a few options with different makes of alarm as well. these are the ones i have been offered: Auto Electrics Swansea, you go to them with the car: 280 quid for a TOAD Ai606 which includes anti hijack and full closure, they can fit it anytime next week after tuesday. JPM Security (Based in Caerphilly) come to your house to fit: 250 quid for an Autowatch 160 alarm and immob system 275 quid for a TOAD Ai606 (he can fit wither of these 2moro morning as he has had a cancellation) otherwise he can fit it on monday. Car Stereo's Wales (Swansea), you go to them to fit: 230 quid for a Cobra alarm and immob (not sure of model number) they can fit this end of next week Automotive Control Ltd (Swansea) They come to you to fit: 350 quid GT Auto alarm and immob and can be fitted on tuesday next week. all systems are with full closure and they have said they will sort my central locking problems for me too! one thing that Automotive Control said was that the GT Auto system was a digital system rather than an anologue system (whatever that means) so i was wondering if the digital systems are better? also are any of the other alarms i have mentioned digital cos i know the cobra one isnt........ has anyone got any of these and how do you get on with them? which one would you go for? im tempted by the TOAD one atm but woul like your views! cheers,
-
hmm could it be the central locking pump thats knackered then?
-
just been to the bodyshop and they cant fit me in before the end of the month :( i asked about the roof sills and they said the same as some of you lot about them cracking..... he said that because there is a joint under the sill where the roof and quater panels attach there will be flex in that part of the body and he couldnt guarantee that it wouldnt start cracking hmmm not sure about the rear VW badge, anyone got any pics of one without so i can see what i think? cheers
-
well i think this looks awesome! im getting the car resprayed hopefully so i think i may as well get this done at the same time! is there anything else you can recommend smooting out while im at it? cheers
-
just going to go and order a set from my stealer..... 88.52 inclusive of an 8% discount when i mentioned CCGB
-
they certainly didnt rip me off Dinkus, i paid 97 quid for them without payin VAT cos my aunt runs a garage and got em on the cheap! they are normally 117 quid for a CTR!!
-
OMG!!! 96 quid from the stealer!! now i wish i had done this before now :( does GSF do the parts by any chance?
-
i just checked and i definately read it in the CCA website...... maybeits just something to do with US Corrado's?
-
holy crap!!! i paid 97 quid exc VAT for the Mintex 1144's for the CTR!!!!!!
-
forget all of these pads your on about people! i have tried the lot that you have mentioned, Greenstuff are crap! Pagid are good but alloys get too dirty and need warming up a bit, ferodo DS2500's are good with less dust but bite aint anywhere near Mintex 1144's!!! the Mintex 1144 pads are the dogs danglies! they dont need warming up, have an awesome bite and dont fade at all under prolonged or high speed braking! they are fast road and race pads tho! expensive but well worth the cash! they are pretty good as far as brake dust goes too, similar to Ferodo's but with better bite.
-
i can vouch for the quality of this stuff as i bought some Silkolene Pro-S 5w40 for my Civic Type R a few months back and i have been very impressed with it! car feels nice a lot smoother than before it was put in! 8)

hi all, its been a while and i cant find the topic but i remember reading a while back about a specific earthing point on the G60 engine bay that should be checked as the earth cable is a bit taught and should be checked from time to time cos if it snaps then it can cause an engine bay fire? am i just imagining this or is my memory actualyl working for a change? if so where is it for me to check? cheers
-
any idea if they come out as far west in the village as Swansea? cheers,
-
hi all, just in the middle of getting my car sorted and i need to install a CAT1 alarm and immobiliser....... now i have had an issue with the central locking recently where it has stopped working and i have just realised its because i have fitted a passat rear handle to the passenger side so there is no circuit!  so if i fit a full closure alarm with remote keyless entry will this sort out the issue that i have with the central locking not working or could it be something else i need to sort before the alarm is fitted? also does anyone know of a good alarm fitter in south wales? cheers
-
forgot to post the engine bay G60 less!!

hi everyone, here are some pics of it in a better light! its not actually looking too shabby cos i gave it a wash too!
