  1. cheers Rob, they look to have some nice wheels, and some very similar to the speedlines, price tag to go with them unfortunately! No one wanting to swap my speedlines? anything that will fit that is a 16/17 is considered...
  2. ahh really! was hoping they wouldnt be too rare and near enough same value as 15's! may have to have a rethink....
  3. Best pictures of the wheels I can get whilst at work...
  4. good morning everyone, Hope you all had a good easter.... I Know this is going to be a long shot but I have some orignal speedlines on my VR, they are 15's. They have been sprayed a sort of dark Grey by the previous owner and I personally think they look really nice. Would anyone be wanting to straight swap my 15's for some 16's/17's original speedlines (if they even exist). I am currently Turbo'ing my VR and need some bigger wheels to fit bigger brakes, but am not massivley keen on moving away from the speedlines but am open to offers. So basically, if you have any 16/17 wheels, and would like a straight swap for my 15 speedlines, gimme a shout! cheers peeps!
  5. Made some progress today, firstly my Corrado decided eat one of my mates who's helping me, spat him back out after though, then we got the original engine out, and started cleaning the bay.. My temporary turbo engine, not sure of the bhp on it though... And I am amazingly stumped with sorting the loom out, I've got the OBD1 OBD2 looms, trying to go through the guide thread but really struggling, any one got one already done??
  6. I may have to invest! There will be a 2.9 vr6 engine up for sale shortly, just got the engine hoist so will have it out soon hopefully...let me know if your interested!
  7. Just had a look mic, sound amazing! I may leave it on as I get on well with my MOT garage ;-) Jim, this is where I'm at on the passenger side..
  8. That's a shame! What about if it was very well hidden? Any chance you know the punishment if caught?
  9. Got the first coat of the new manifold colour, LC5U to match the car, not sure how long or if it will last but it will also be getting a high temp lacquer of some sort over the top...any recommendations?? Also completely stumped with the bonnet release cable, the clamp on the passenger side is rusted shut. Gt85'd it, cleaned it, repeated several times and still no give...please help!
  10. Just found the spec of the engine I bought.... 2.8 obd2 t3/t4 turbo external wastegate and screamer pipe walbro 255 inline fuel pump 10mm ht leads engine was refreshed by vulcan engineering, have receipt for £3175.64 Timing chain kit was replaced, coated rod bearings, arp head and rod bolts, 9:1 low comp metal head spacer etc. replaced oil pressure and temperature switch, coolant housing and coolant, spark plugs, used 10w 60 oil recommended by stealth, coolant sensor, oil return pipe to turbo, all boost pipes. manifold is arp but doesnt have stamp on it? has oil cooler dump valve 4" maf at stealth for dyno run last year for there dyno day and it made 300.6 bhp and 300.0 lbs torque at 7 psi what do you think of it?
  11. That nitromors and some wire wool is amazing stuff! Got it all cleaned up and back to bare metal plus the first coat of black on... Also started getting the front end off ready for the engine swap, struggling to get the bonnet release cable off though... Sadly got to pack up for the day now, night shifts here we go
  12. Cleaning up the manifold, its a bit messy but has 4 layers of paint I'm trying to get through, slowly getting it back to silver ready for me to paint
  13. Had a similar issue with my mk4 golf (20vt) the inner rocker cover gasket had cracked and split, causing oil to leak into the spark plug housing. replaced the gasket and cleaned up the housing and havnt had a problem for the 2 months since doing it.
  14. ahh found that! cheers for help Rob, will help to make life easier!
  15. OK, so been on here a while and thought it time to start a thread with the progress of what I'm doing, any help along the way will be much appreciated...I'm not mechanically.minded, fortunately my friends are, but I'm learning! I've got a aqua blue 93 vr6 with cloth interior. Had some issues with starting her up and revs dropping etc just after I got her so we ended up stripping the fusebox down and completely re-wiring, also took the bodged immobiliser out whilst we were there.. Dash came out so we could do the wiring and whilst its out I'm planning to change the dash lights as they are pretty dim and replace the heater controls with a working set I bought. Also have one of the uprated head light looms to pop in. Just purchased an obd2 turbo'd vr6 to put in too, work is starting on that shortly. Ive started to clean the new engine up, all the pipes have been cleaned up and made a nice pile in the corner of the front room, other half not massively impressed. Also the intake manifold is off getting cleaned up ready for spraying and putting back on. will update with pictures of progress as we go along...any help or suggestions are more than welcome!
  16. cheers Rob, Is that the Definitive 24v into a vr thread? Without sounding like a complete novice, if mine is OBD2 does that mean it is a 24v?
  17. Hi all, Im swapping from a obd1 2.9 vr6 engine to a OBD2 2,8 vr6 from a mk3 golf. Ive got the fusebox, full loom and ECU for both engines, what will be the best way to to get the new engine running? Splice the 2 looms together, just run the OBD2 loom or will the OBD1 loom be able to run the OBD2 engine? The new ECU is chipped so will need to be able to use that also... The OBD2 engine is tuned with turbo etc so want to make sure I do this properly, but would like any help about the best way to do it... thanks in advance
  18. thanks David, turns out Halfords do make the paint still, available in spray, touch up pen, 1 and 5 litre tubs too! I just got the misfortune of getting a trainee first time round! £13.99 for a spray can of LC5U, happy days!
  19. Hi all, Ive looked through and through the threads on here, checked the paint codes on here, online and in the car to check and double check, went to Halfords full of confidence with my paint being LC5U to find that will not make it for me?? Did I just have a newby to the store who didnt know, or have they stopped making custom paint up? he said they cant make paint that are not on the shelves... dont know anywhere else to go!?!? So, does anyone have some LC5U lying around I could purchase, or recommend anywhere in or near Harrogate that will make the paint up for me?
  20. Didnt realise these were made for the Corrado, got the HEKO ones on my golf, had a look and found this... http://www.e-heko.com/en/Marka_Model/VOLKSWAGEN_CORRADO/3D-1988-1995R.html which looks to be the same on ebay as this one.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-CORRADO-3D-1988-1995-Wind-deflectors-HEKO-2pcs-/330701757369?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4cff5c5bb9
  21. Hi all, Was happily driving home last night when there was a little pop bang fizz and the windscreen got covered with coolant vapour! Any chance any one has a couple of spare bits lying around?? Im after the plastic joint at the top of the radiator as mine snapped, and also the coolant pipe that comes from it as mine split! I can possibly get pictures up here if any ones unsure which bits I mean! for a K reg VR6 please! Thanks all....
