  1. Finally got the garage clean enough for the Corrado to fit in last week, the engine is out and with its new owner.
  2. Hi guys, I have both my Corrado and Audi A4 insured through HIC (Herts Insurance https://www.hertsinsurance.com/) For the Corrado, I had an agreed value, all mods declared, £150 voluntary excess and 5000 limited miles. I have had a license for about 5 years but at the time of renewal was only 4. My 4 years NCB were on the Audi but they took this into account for the Corrado insurance, im also a CCGB member...I pay around the £250 mark fully comp. HIC are well worth a shout, can even go on their website and request a call back. The staff have always been nice and helpful too - ive never made a claim so don't know what that is like - plus one of the managers there is a Corrado fan and owner so give good discounts :-) hope this helps
  3. was just thinking it would be cool to get a few peeps meeting up before, maybes Wetherby services on the A1 or something like that, then travelling in together... This year at VW Festival I got onto the stand first and then everyone else arrived in drips and drabs...Some of the other clubs all came in convoy and it looked pretty cool. Theres something that brings out the inner child about convoys and loads of the same car coming in altogether :thumbleft:
  4. Auto Windscreens (Leeds branch) did mine - I went through the insurance so cost me £90 excess. Chap that installed it (on his own!) did a cracking a job and knew exactly what the standard fitting problems were.
  5. Would people be interested at meeting up somewhere, then going on to the show? would be able to camp in the same area and head onto the stand together...
  6. yeah we will, im owed a conversion if I remember correctly
  7. I will have to check but I am pretty sure I have the full ecu to fusebox loom, don't think its been tampered with. Ive had my engine in and out several times now already so not too worried about that part, its as you say, the wiring and all the little niggly bits.. fingers crossed Ill be starting on things soon. will more than likely take you up on that one, seeing stuff normally makes a bit more sense...Ive just had a quick scan through your thread with rubjohnny on clubGTi and now really doubt my abilities to splice haha!
  8. I have the pedal but no cables for it, think its the floor mounted one. Will have to check out your guide for the loom splicing, Im sure a couple of mates and myself can splice it up.. In terms of conversion, from what ive seen and read it sounds a fairly straight forward procedure...I am saying that before actually starting though haha!
  9. Ive got the A3 engine too....FAIL! lol Im going to have to get a list together of the little bits and pieces that need to be done I think...those are what I am going to be needing I think Did you splice the looms up yourself? I don't have the loom for the DBW pedal either so will need to source that unless there is a way of running with the standard VR pedals?
  10. thanks guys, no doubt I will be taking you up with the knowledge  the VRT engine is up on ebay at the minute here... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-8-vr6-turbo-VRT-engine-complete-conversion-mk3-mk2-golf-corrado-caddy-vw-L-K-/262078123629?hash=item3d0512ce6d I am trying to get everything needed together ready for the conversion and try to do it in a weekend. Ive got the engine, loom and ECU which I need to get spliced and the ECU de-immobilised and then mapped. Initially I am going to run my vr gearbox but maybes llok into 6 speed in the future. Ive got the engine mount from the mk4 4 motion Golf to cut and weld to mount the engine with. Ive got the exhuast manifolds from an r32 which we will then be trying to build a downpipe from... Looking to take the current engine out in the next few weeks so I can start cleaning the bay up a smidge ready, just need the VRT to sell so I can get cracking with loom splicing etc
  11. Right, after a summer of driving the Corrado around as a standard car she has her last show on the 18th at the justdubs All car show down in Leeds, after this shes off in the garage. Then its arse into gear time to get her R32'd by VW Festival 2016 :thumbleft: Still have the VRT for sale if anyone is interested, will also be on the lookout soon for more parts and advice for the R32 conversion...
