  1. Nope - 190 at the flywheel. Someone who's been RR'd would be able to quote you an exact figure at the wheels, I would guess around 160 to 165 BHP ???
  2. Right - this has spurred me on to turn the pile of wire & relays I bought months ago into a new loom...... (since they've been sitting on the floor at home ever since!)
  3. Thanks very much everyone - new switch is definitely OK, must have fallen out of the old one.
  4. You mean headlamp switch? Could be 'cos mine disintegrated a few weeks back - could have been hiding under the seat or something! Definitely had better not be from the new switch!!!!
  5. Pull all 3 dials off (pull firmly towards you and they'll just pop off) - remembering which was which 'cos they're not all the same... Trim surround pops off when levered from left & right sides gently with a flat blade screwdriver... ... to reveal 4 screws, 1 at each corner. Unscrew these and the control panel flops out...... And, in true Haynes manual style "for re-assembly follow the steps in reverse order" :D
  6. I'm thinking some sort of light guide - bulb fitting in the big cutout at the front in thing2.jpg picture......
  7. Dead camshaft position sensor? Get VAG-COM (or similar diagnostics) plugged in & look for error codes....
  8. yeah - thought about that too - could easily double the weight of the car soon....
  9. Mods - why not have a sticky "was it you" topic? Please.....
  10. Keep forgetting to reply to this --- you can get higher wattage bulbs for the heater dial illumination you know - Halfords (spit!) stock the two wattages - the second one I bought was the higher wattage (sorry can't remember what watt it was!) and it's made the illumination acceptable now as opposed to "hardly noticable" as it was.
  11. Further development - also considering having a small USB webcam - triggered by the alarm or by the car being started without the USB key present - pointing at the driver's seat from the passenger's side. Hoping to either capture someone in the car or trying to get in the driver's door. Argggggggggh !!! Is this all going a bit too far???
  12. found this mystery object on the floor in the driver's side footwell when I got to work this morning. Anyone recognise it? Might not even be from the Corrado - had it MoT'd last week and the garage monkeys may have dropped it??? Everything seems to work OK, so I'm a bit flummoxed.
  13. Have a look at my CorradoPuter idea.... a bit more than just an alarm/SMS but similar :D
  14. Already thought about that - not good having it sliding out with cables plugged into 3 sides (back & left/right sides!). Having it mounted securely is a better idea. Would fit nicely under the passenger side tray, but in the boot in a docking station would be more secure, but a pain to access the CD/DVD-ROM and more cabling (VGA, power, USB, audio etc. ) back to the front. I've nearly got all the bits together (just waiting for USB GPS to be delivered) to have a trial run without the thing in the car....
  15. Was it you? White Corrado L** WAG - with red/clear in-pros Sun 22nd 5:10pm in Mere Brow, Lancs? Didn't get chance to see what model it was but it had been lowered and had nice (non-std) wheels??? :?: :?: :?: (While I think - Mods, can we have a sticky "Was it You" topic???) 8)
  16. gotta love that clone stamp tool  And the car really was covered in a thick layer of sand which just disappeared in the photos ... weird... :? :?
  17. My wheel is very expensive! I recommend Volk Racing/Rays Engineering TE-37. Check this thread out. vortex corrado forum こんにちはそして歓迎 Hello Oichan! Your English is not as funny as my Japanese! (the line above translated on altavista & then cut & pasted turns from Japanese characters into nonsense!) I've recommended people to look at your http://www.oichan.org many times now! Respect!
  18. Have a look on this Japanese Corrado Nutter's page - he's got some really light wheels, might be a link in there somewhere to the manufacturers...
  19. Could be the exhaust knocking on the body somewhere when the engine flexes in the enginemounts on overun, or maybe a mount itself complaining...
  20. From the moment you first see it, to when you first get in it just feels right. Plus when you turn the key and hear the VR6 burble... Plus plus when you boot it over 3800 rpm and hear the roar...... it just gets better!
  21. When the VR6 was introduced, didn't the motoring press (can't remember who/where!) say something like: "You'd expect the slightly heavier VR6 lump to adversly affect the handling, but in fact it feels sharper" Anyway, don't people only buy sheddy old G60s 'cos they can't afford a decent VR6? just playing devil's advocate on a rainy Wednesday morning....
  22. Hmmm, maybe I was a little off the mark then, I'm 36 and was just thinking back to "the good old days" when I was 13/14/15 ish at school - that was 1980/1/2 ....
  23. Mods - Can we have a private "over 30's only" thread please so we can reminisce about Rubik's Cubes, Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran and top mullet-type hairstyles?
  24. I think Stealth fit them, see if you can find a www or phone number for Stealth & give 'em a call...
  25. OK, from http://shmoo.plus.com:300/coolant_recal ... do_vr6.pdf there are 2 phone nos. for VW US... If you have any questions regarding this or any other recall or service action, please call (248) 340-4734 or (248) 340-4858. HTH
