 ...that you cannot afford to do, there's not a lot of room in the metal bayonet base to play with... hope you've bought a few sets of spare bulbs (both filament and LED type) to experiment with ;-)
-
Useful to know that :-) - expect random Land Rover related PMs at some point in the future ... ;-)

You wanna try filling a V8 Discovery or Range Rover - 90 litre tank, and approx. 13 mpg (if you're lucky)
-
 :-) Very true. I've sold all my old VW brochures on ebay ( except for the Corrado Storm one, I'm saving that as a little nest egg... ) so can't quote them word for word, maybe they did trumpet it as "unique" rather than "revolutionary".... Didn't know that - those crafty French eh?

Instructions on changing VR6 front brakes???
stormseeker replied to jedi-knight83's topic in Suppliers Forum
As said already, yes you can. The ABS system is designed so that with it turned off, disengaged, failed or whatever, the plumbing for the hydraulics appears just like a standard brake setup. -
Good to hear Jim, glad to hear that your honeymoon period with the new car is back on track (pun intended? ) ;-)

don't wanna say I told you so but...

asking questions like that are you sure you want to do this? No, one goes to the pip (+ve) and the other goes to the metal shell (-ve) - and you must take great care not to short them together or you'll fuse the sidelight circuit... Getting out the LEDs from the plastic wedge base is just something you have to practice - you might have to destroy one before you get it right... Unfortunately I've not got any pictures, and as I said unfortunately the bulbs (well, complete headlights actually  ) were smashed to smithereens last Sep. Best of luck...... have you ever soldered before? Do you know anything about basic electric circuits? :?:

According to http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Boul ... CIAHF.html the VR6 was not as revolutionary as it was hailed to be - Lancia had a "VR4" in the Fulvia 25 years earlier...

Yep - there's a lot of hype around LED bulbs... Just look at Oichan's before & after pictures - even though in the second "after" shot the lights look almost as bright, notice how all the detail surrounding the car is also brighter, meaning that shot was overexposed compared to the first one... But as Kevhaywire says, it can be done, you just need loads and loads of LEDs, more often than not more than these companies fit in their "bulb replacements".

..at least that's what I think it was... On the way into Liverpool today I was stopped at some lights, and whilst trying to see the reflection of my C in the big glass windows of Williams BMW Liverpool I noticed one of the sales blokes sat at his desk gesturing to another bloke to look towards the Corrado - it was looking particularly fine & shiny as it has just been washed 8) - anyway they saw me looking at them and started giving me the thumbs up 8) - didn't quite know what to do so just gave them a feeble wave and the lights changed and I was off.... made me feel all warm and chumbly... :-)
-
Serious? Bo11ox !!! :-) If that's the case then I've really tightened it today

Just replaced mine today - spot on advice Kev :-) :-) (except my engine mount bolts were 16mm ;-) ) Engine sounds a lot quieter now - now the water pump's quiet I can hear the tensioner wheel squealing :-( had a go at dismantling it, but the bolt that holds the wheel bearing thing on was siezed tight, and without a replacement one I wasn't going to force it... Only moment of panic was as jacking the engine up, there was an almightly clunk/clank/sound of tearing sheet metal  - I was sure I'd cracked the exhaust manaifold or something, but all seems well, so god knows what that was ... fingers crossed nothing drops off ;-) So, I'm looking for a knackered old belt tensioner (whole unit) to have a go at refurbing if anyone's got one.... Oh yeah - one other thing I discovered - the bolt in the rear engine mount was bent! must've taken some impact in the collision I had least year
-
Seems to be just one pool of light though, in the centre of the beam pattern, almost sideways figure-of-8 shaped - which is one reason why I suspected the centre-spots...
-
'salright -just don't do it again otherwise you'll be grounded with no pocket money.... :) :D

Bugger! :?
-
Just don't get involved! I really don't think that's the proper response - just ignore him - all he'll do is start using another email address. All you'll do is use up huge chunks of bandwidth & server time/space...

This is a question to anyone who's had the glass off the front of the C's headlights - is the main beam (centre spots) aim independently adjustable of the dipped? Reason I ask is since fitting my uprated loom, the dipped beam pattern is much more noticable, and is aimed about as high as it can be without dazzling other drivers, but when I switch to main beam, I've got a big pool of light on the road about 12ft in front of the car - like the main beam is aimed much much too low - I wondered if the centre spot lamp reflectors were adjustable inside the headamp itself??? This big blob of light would be much more useful thrown forward, and not dumped on the road :-( (And before anyone says - I know that the main beam filaments inside the dipped/main bulbs can't be aimed independently... just the centre spots...) TIA,

From your photo I think the FK's look better.... Would need to see some better photos in better light to finally decide though.... what colour is your Corrado?

Uh? Works for me - try http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3504 look down the thread for the pdf file...

The official recall cicular from VW (USA) states: ====================================== Recall Circular Code: UE April 1999 Subject: 1992-94 Volkswagen Corrado Vehicles Equipped With VR6 Engines Modify Engine Coolant System Dear Volkswagen Dealer: This is to inform you of a voluntary safety recall campaign involving 1992-94 model year Volkswagen Corrado vehicles equipped with VR6 engines. This recall involves modification of the engine coolant system. Problem Description Volkswagen has determined that the malfunction of a coolant system component such as the thermostat, fan belt, thermo switch, fan motor or water pump, if not serviced in a timely manner, could cause the coolant temperature and pressure to increase significantly. An increase in pressure could result in coolant leakage, including leakage from the heat exchanger, in particular in high mileage vehicles. Leakage of hot coolant from the heat exchanger could cause injury to the feet of the driver or steam up the interior of the vehicle and temporarily impair the driver’s visibility. Vehicle Identification Number Range The vehicles affected by this recall are within the following vehicle identification number range: WVWEF450_NK000001 - WVWEF450_RK003774 Please note that the above VINs represent the lowest and highest serial numbers of affected vehicles. Use of the V-Crest campaign inquiry system will allow you to determine whether or not a particular vehicle, within the above VIN range, requires the corrective work. Note: Volkswagen will not reimburse under this recall action any duplicate recall repair work. ======================================= Note this is for the US 2.8 AAA engined cars - not sure if the same applies to the European 2.9's...

Yeah - notice less light output (with mine with LEDs in the sidelights it was hard (almost impossible) to tell if the sidelights were on from inside the car) but blueish tinge. Look what I've got sat on my desk waiting to go in the rear clusters... ...not gonna fit though without some serious dremelling...
-
but those have little led's on the sides...surely that will spread the light? that's what I said... ;-) He's done this on his sidelights - it won't make your lights whiter, as the white LEDs are a blueish white - you may be able to notice a slight bluey tinge to your dipped beam but it's really subtle... I did this with my sidelights before I crashed my C last year and the headlights got smashed :-( Dead easy to do - get your old side light bulbs (or a spare pair!) carefully smash the glass envelope, desolder the main pip on the base and remove all traces of glass/glue/resin etc. This leaves you with a metal bayonet base to fit your C's sidelights :-) Get your white led bulb (I used this type) carefully remove the LEDs and their circuitboard from the plastic wedge base, and solder into your metal bayonet base (remembering to check polarity, positive to the metal pip at the bottom) Volia :-)
