The one at the top left is just a mounting lug for the box - there's no actual air going through that joint - there's just an in and an out at the bottom. I thought mine was cracked because of the loud noise, and if I shrouded it with my hands the noise changed - making me think there was a leak underneath it - but I took it off, blocked one hole a tried blowing through it! Definitely no leak! They're just noisey by nature!

Didn't get chance to practice my new defensive driving techniques on the way home from my "Driver Improvement Course" today - got to the end of the M57 to discover an almighty loose-belt-slipping-squealing noise and a wonderful smell of burning rubber. Managed to make it onto the hard shoulder, popped the bonnet, pulled out the airbox... plastic pulley on the tensioner completely melted away - the belt was running against the seized bearing  nice! And the total bugger of it is I went to BSL last Fri and bought a new bearing, just hadn't got round to doing it yet... ARSE! So now the plastic pulley is no more, I can't even repair the tensioner I've got :-( :-( :-(

But neither of those are a dark Green metallic Corrado..... white wheels would ruin your C in my opinion ;-) -
In terms of a straight line sprint ... according to http://www.syclone.freeserve.co.uk/rivals_cars.htm (don't know where all these figures are collected from?) the Corrado VR6 is 20 places in front of Golf V6 4motion - so there you go print off the list and show it to your mate... :-)

Maybe cos most of the sensors/valves/injectors live round the engine?

Looking good Henny, can't wait to see it finished... 8)

:offtopic1: Just imagine how chuffed you'd be too, when you lifted the bonnet for the first time and saw the exposed wiper mechanism/ECU etc. looking completely pants on your £20-odd K purchase... always makes me laugh how they tried to pitch the C against the like of the BMW... without even a proper scuttle cover

Ask him if he honestly thinks the Golf 4mot-thing will be remembered as a classic in say 10-ish years time :? ? Don't think so...

Car detail check site....................Handy!
stormseeker replied to skid's topic in General Car Chat
It seems to just default to the end of the year for "older" cars. Have you check reg. "VR6" - on a sunbeam manufactured 1/Jan 0001  -
Is the CTR the one referred to as "The Honda Bread Van" ??? :-)

'AVE A LOOK AT THIS BEAUTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
stormseeker replied to bigg60's topic in Members Gallery
Yeah - I know that - I was thinking it might not be on the DVLA database if the reg. had just been issued...  T5 VW still isn't on there - am I mising something... -
Just tidying out some more old mags and found this in an old copy of ( ) Max Power from 1994... Never heard of either Mykoo Motorsport or ABT? Wonder if K815 FYK is still around? Nice wheels, but the graphics on this C are way over the top... and spot the errors in the article...

Strictly speaking the last two digits are the thickness of the cell in tenths of mm, i.e. 1.6mm or 2.0 mm in this case. Too thin and it might not fit snuggly enough in whatever holder it's been designed to go in... but yeah, bigger numbers do give bigger capacity ;-) And the first 2 digits are the diameter of the cell in mm i.e. 16mm :-)

Just tidying out some old car mags and found this in Autocar June 1993...

Engine number printed on the sticker at the pulley end is ABV017899-23-5-95 which fits with the car's build date of Jun '95 - still a bit fishy as to why the logbook shows 000000 ??? :? :?:
