  1. Well done Tom, glad you got it sorted. Now I must hurry up and get me a VR 8)
  2. Thanks for the feedback. Yeah that cover hides exposed wiring nicely.
  3. I had some Black garage door paint lying around so used that, it's similar stuff to hammarite. Worked a treat.
  4. Not sure if you would need the VR subframe but yes get all those parts and you can go 312mm.
  5. The lower ball joint on the VR is offset forwards or backwards can't remember which way, the 4 studs are centrally placed. Sorry im not picking faults just curious, but cant you just fit vr lower ball joint with the vr knuckle?[/quote:2iyb6mq0] You would have to change the wishbones then you would need to change the ARB and drive shafts.
  6. No problem, it took my mind off work tomorrow
  7. The Passat VR disc mounting face is offset from the Corrado VR by about 10mm. It has the same offset as the 4 studs (non-plus suspension set-up). This is the reason you can't use 288 discs on a 4 stud.
  8. Thought it might come in handy :) The lower ball joint on the VR is offset forwards or backwards can't remember which way, the 4 studs are centrally placed.
  9. The following is based on my 4 to 5 stud conversion on my 1993 16v Corrado. It’s not a detailed step by step guide - more of a parts list, pricing and special requirements guide for the conversion. Parts required + costs (roughly what you should expect to pay) VR or G60 calipers and carriers - £50 (used) VR outer CV joints - £30 pair (used) VR 5 stud hubs - £20 pair (used) 16v front wheel bearings - £60 (VAG) Passat VR 1993 front discs (these were only made for 1 year) - £56 (GSF) VAG part number 357 615 301 A 16v 4 stud ABS rings (for modifying) - £32 (VAG) part number 357 614 150 VR Front pads - £25 (VAG) CV boot clips (if you don’t use new boots)- £4 (Ebay) Rear bearings - £? (VAG) Rear pads - £18 (GSF) Rear discs - £42 (VAG) part number 357 615 601 B VR M14 bolts 20x - £10 (used) 5x100 alloys + tyres Brake fluid Threadlock Hub machining (to fit above discs) – not sure on cost, I did them myself. There is a possibility that the 5 stud hub off a 93 Passat VR will fit without machining but I’m not 100% sure, the VAG part number is 357 407 615 B (see pdf below). I would budget for replacement inner and outer CV boots – I used pattern parts as the dealer was closed on a Sunday - £26 for 1 inner and 1 outer (GSF) You will also need to get the wheel alignment set-up after it’s all done so budget for this too. Special Requirements Fitting the above parts is as per the usual Corrado procedures, there are no special tools or special methods for fitting. There are however modifications to some parts, these are detailed below. The VR 5 stud hub needs to be turned down to 120mm diameter to allow it to fit the Passat VR disc (see photo below). I maybe able to get this done for you for a small charge. The 4 stud ABS rings will need cutouts to clear the M14 wheel bolts. I used an angle grinder and finished off with a small rotary cutter similar to something you might use in a Dremel. This is a time consuming exercise so be patient, offer them up to the hubs and check for bolt clearance. Even though I used new rings I painted them afterwards to protect against corrosion (see photo below). Please shout up if I've missed something or I've made a mistake somewhere and I'll put it right. Thanks
  10. Infact I might have some knocking around somewhere.
  11. Tailgate screws arn't countersunk, these are probably what you need but might need shortening, check the length, you will find them somewhere. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/STAINLESS-BUTTON- ... 2552707a8a
  12. To throw a spanner in the works - I had the koni kit (vogtland springs) on my last valver and although the height was perfect, the ride was very crashy. I had the springs changed for H&R's, the ride was great and not crashy or too firm at all BUT the front end sat way too high, about 1" higher than the rear and there was no way that it would have settled by that much. The front didn't look much lower than standard with the H&R's. I was never happy with the ride height but sold the car anyway, not for that reason tho. After the above experience which was very costly I decided to go for coilovers if I ever uprated the suspension again. I will go for the KW V1's next time but look into softer springs as 1 or 2 members on here have asked and got the softer springs without additional cost.
  13. I was going to change mine to Stainless items a while back, you should be able to buy them from a Stainless supplier, they are standard screws.

    Rear Seats

My 93 valver had the flat bench but didn't come with 3 belts, nor did my 95 valver.

    Rear Seats

Corrado's didn't come with 3 seat belts in the rear, I'd take it out if it were me, probably fitted by a previous owner.
  16. I wish it was that easy for the fronts, you are correct for the rears.
  17. Nice one Jim. I'm hoping to find some time over the xmas/new year break for the write up.
  18. Agreed. Almost brings a tear to the eye when you think it could be a loved one on the receiving end. Have a safe Christmas...........
  19. Andy, Got your message but when trying to reply I get this message - Some users couldn’t be added as they have disabled private message receipt. Under user control panel go to board preferences and set 'allow users to send you private messages' to yes and then we might get somewhere. Let me know when you've done it. Dave
  20. Andy, Can you send me a PM (Private Message), I usually reply by PM but I don't have the option to send you one. I'll reply to yours. If any Mods are reading this - why can't I send Andy a PM? Thanks
  21. Rough cost for my conversion - VR calipers and carriers - £50 VR bearing housing/CV joints/hubs/drive shafts (although you only need the hubs and CV's) - £70 pair Front bearings - £60 Front discs - £56 4 stud ABS rings (for modifying) - £32 Front pads - £25 CV boot clips - £4 Rear bearings - £15 Rear pads - £18 Rear discs - £42 M14 bolts - ? 5x100 alloys + tyres - ? Hub machining (to fit discs) - ? Brake fluid - ? As you can see there are lots of parts to get hold of so it won't be cheap. I was lucky to have a mechanic friend help me do the work which saved me a massive chunk.
  22. Finished mine a week ago but haven't totted up the cost yet.
