  1. They will have I guess 55 profile tyres to suit the A3 rolling radius size.
  2. I have the same problem but at the front it's a couple of mm rather than 5, still enough to cause wind noise. I don't have any adjustment either.
  3. Ahh just checked on ETKA again and 056 opens at 87 degs :confused4:
  4. Car - 1993 2L 16v 9a I've bought a new thermostat from the stealer today with the part number 044-121-113. I've looked it up on ETKA and it says it should be 056-121-113. Searching the net I've found 056 to open at 80 degs, 044 opens at 87 degs. Can anyone confirm which one is correct? Thanks Dave
  5. I think I'm gonna start looking into it some more. I know the engine temp isn't getting up to the correct temp so maybe the ECU is throwing in more fuel. Gonna start with the thermostat then onto sensors - more money :(
  6. Usually get between 23-28 from my 2L 16v, best I can manage being very careful is 32mpg on a long journey. I reckon there's a problem somewhere :(
  7. The handle needs to be pulled out further before the other end comes out. The central locking cable is stopping you from pulling it out further, you need to unclip the cable inside the door. Just follow the cable with your fingers and you'll come across the clip. I think you can see it if you shine a torch inside.
  8. I've decided to play it safe and do the whole 4 to 5 stud setup. I've got the 5 stud hubs, outer VR CV's, 5x100 alloys, just waiting for Golf VR calipers and carriers to be delivered. I'm gonna change all discs as their shot, anyone recommend where to buy standard discs and pads? Ta
  9. Replaced my linkages earlier this year and the piece you are talking about was still available.
  10. Thanks for that Jim, better if all the pics would show and were bigger.
  11. Just a couple of questions - What mods to the ABS rings? Does this conversion alter the offset? Thanks
  12. If the new holes were a close tolerance on the bolt then it could be a goer - see attached.
  13. I think its just the 5 studs dave...and you are right, 288s fit VRs with no problems at all! Cheers Steve. I've not yet looked at where a 4 stud PCD would fall on the 5 stud disc but would there be a strength issue with drilling discs?
  14. What exactly is the issue with fitting 288 to a 4 stud car? I know it's the 5 stud issue, anything else? Standard VR calipers/carriers fit the 4 stud so why shouldn't 288's? They fit VR's without a problem or am I wrong? Is there a fit issue on the 4 stud hub apart from there being 5 studs? I'm just mulling things over in my head and thinking if there is an offset problem could this be overcome with carrier spacers? The discs could be re-drilled for 4 stud, right?
  15. Just to let you know i got my strikers today and they look GORGEOUS, Better than some ive been seeing on ebay with nails glued to them and stuff! Are they stainless steel or will i need to give them a good coat of hamerite before fitting? cheers dave! Stainless, no need to coat.
  16. Will ring you shortly but you've caught me at the wrong time, I've been off work with illness since the weekend.
  17. Ah right, my mistake. But if thats the tunnel then where is the part of it that sits directly behind the gear stick There is a plastic cover that screws to the tunnel section, it surrounds the handbrake. It attaches with 1 screw at the front and 1 screw hidden under the ashtray.
  18. There is no other plastic part under there. What you see in the photo is the bracket attached to the plastic tunnel and then attached to the floor, that's it nothing else.
  19. The bracket attaches to the the main tunnel piece that runs from the gear surround to the rear seat. There is a cover that attaches to this and also the rear ashtray fits into. I think you would know if you didn't have this as it would expose open carpet areas, the handbrake mechanism, handbrake cable tubes, screws etc.
  20. Changed mine for Redline MT90 just this week. Has made an improvement, not huge but still an improvement.
