  1. Anyone had this? The sealant has come away from the scuttle area floor - see pic. I can break pieces off it and probably remove the whole lot. I'm thinking remove it and re-seal.
  2. I think I may have found an easier solution for fitting the kit so I'll be sending out a new install guide for people to try. Feedback appreciated. Will also include the current install guide as a backup.
  3. Excellent news Jim, only a week after me  You get to drive it now, mine won't be on the road until at least mid April :( I got good MPG too on my journey home with the VR on Saturday.
  4. Stu, what are my options, silicone sealant or something similar? Will I get leaks if don't bother filling it? Dave
  5. Is it available from the dealer?
  6. Matt, do you know how much the housings are, they look expensive.
  7. I've noticed part of the windscreen seal has an equal gap of about 5mm each end - see photo. Now I know this isn't right, no gap on my valver. I'm guessing when this strip was pressed into the gap it wasn't stretched enough or maybe it just isn't long enough, probably not the latter as it would have been pulled out to change the screen then popped back in. So can I remove it and refit properly? Thanks
  8. I'm going to change the thermostat on my VR soon, will I need anything else other than thermostat, o-ring and G12+ ? Should I replace the housing  Thanks Dave
  9. Found it, anyone used it? http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165492
  10. I need to repair some holes in my dash, do Halfords still do this kit or has anyone experienced a better solution? Thanks Dave
  11. Thanks to everyones help it's now clipped back where it belongs.
  12. I always thought that Polo was made up by some crazy owner, you mean VW sold it like that :pukeright:
  13. Thanks Jon, I'll have another look.
  14. I clipped the connector to the ABS pump but the bracket is a mystery.
  15. I'm new to the VR so will have many q's but for now can anyone tell me what this is and where should it be attached? Circled in Red. It has an electrical connector which I've found has a plastic clip that attaches to the ABS pump (I think) but there is also a steel L shaped bracket hanging not secured. Sorry for the pic quality, only had my phone whilst I was working. Thanks
  16. I think I'll get it checked out properly, it does look like it's been thrown in there.
  17. Matt, yeah probably was me, left the train station at 11.20 heading to Bollington. Left Bollington at 12.10 heading to Leek and onto Notts. Kip, yeah will be at AGM but in the valver. VR will be ready 1st May hopefully so first show will be Stanford Hall. Been very busy today working on the problems, started at 10.30 this morning finishing at 6.30 this evening. I did find some interesting 'fixes' done previously but nothing I can't fix with the forums help :) Most of the problems have been with the interior but some under the bonnet. I found out it's had an uprated wiring loom however the wiring needed tidying up.
  18. Not intentional mate. I'll be at Stanford Hall in the VR.
  19. Not sure, it drops into the Carbon Can opening and has the cone underneath. I'll take a pic. Redline MT90, did it on my valver and it got rid of a 1st gear crunch and smoothed the change slightly.
  20. Thanks for the comments. Plans are to get all the problems sorted 1st then change engine oil, gearbox oil, thermostat, coolant change - all the usual service stuff. The standard grill is back on already and hopefully today will put the standard airbox back on. I've gone over the car with a fine tooth comb and made a list of it's problems whether big or small. Needless to say it's a long list but I am quite fussy  As for mods, it's already got Eibach springs so will change the dampers too, wheels will come after that. That's about as far as I'm thinking at the moment, oh yeah I've got 288 calipers to go on as well, brakes are quite new so that'll be later. Ta.
  21. Finally collected my new VR yesterday from Macclesfield. It drove the 50 miles home very well and returned excellent fuel economy. Apparently the car was owned by someone heavily involved with the CCGB since 2005. Details - 94M Plate Brilliant Black Metallic 168K miles Bastuck Stainless exhaust Induction kit Lowered on eibach springs, std shocks Aero wipers It does have a few interior problems and some minor dents on the body, all easily fixable. It's in very good condition overall but does need a good clean inside and out. The photos were taken about 10 mins after I got home so what you see is how I bought it. No doubt I'll find more problems as I fix others  My plan is to have it on the road by 1st May. I now fully understand why VR owners rave-on about the noise :norty:
