I can probably do it, send the drawings and I'll have a look.

He lives in Stapleford, I've seen him a few times, don't think he reads the forum. In fact he has it up for sale later in the summer, I know cus I asked him when I was looking for a VR.

Just used it, told me all I need to know :)

Thanks Jim.

Anyone recommend a decent history data check site? Cheapest I've seen is £3.95 from several places right up to £20. I've used a cheap one in the past but can't remember where. Thanks Dave

It's about the only time I'm happy at being over 35  Good luck with the search Jim.

Hey that was me  on my way home from DG Autotech.

I did mine this week with the manifold still attached, it's little fiddley at times though.
-
I changed the water flange (black plastic part in your last pic) on my car this week. The top bolt can be accessed by using a ball end allen key without taking the manifold off. I'd change that water flange as it looks worse than mine and it was leaking too - it had an almost invisble crack in it, not surprising since it starts to disintegrate from the inside. I'll get a photo up when I get chance.
-
Yes I think so but not 100% sure.

I think Mk3 GTI bearing carriers have the ball joint in a different place (as Corrado VR6) and won't match up with Corrado 4 stud wishbones. You would have to change to wide track wishbones etc. VR and Mk3 bearing carriers have their caliper carrier mounting about 10mm offset to the Corrado 4 stud bearing carrier. Hope I haven't confused anyone.
-
You cant go straight for 312mm using parts from your first post? Not without machining the carriers and drilling the discs. The bearing housing on the 16v has the caliper carrier mounting position in a different place to the VR bearing housing.

£10 sound fair? Let me know if you can't find one local. Dave

I've got a 15" 4 stud space saver with unused tyre located at M1 J25 if that's any good?
-
Correct, my kit won't fix the circled breakage, you need a new handle.

I've only driven maybe 2 or 3 VR's in my time and only short distances and if I remember they were running on old worn out components so after Tom let me loose in his VR I can only agree with his comments 100%. I was amazed at how refined it felt, it easily felt as refined as alot of new cars out today. The ride quality was spot on too. I think Tom has done some very good work with his VR and wow does it show  Nice one Tom :notworthy: and thanks again for the experience. My valver will certainly be up for sale in the next couple of days.

I started laughing at the subject before I read the post  -
Comes out of it's heated garage when it's nice out.
-
I've considered doing this with my valver as I know my car is a good'en. I'll keep my eye on this thread.
-
Made my mind up, if I don't do the VR now I probably never will :D
-
At the time I decided to sell the car so I sold the KW's. Thanks Jim, yeah it does seem to come up pretty well, not without it's problems though.

Not done much recently apart from a 5 Stud conversion and a Magnex exhaust. Probabaly won't do anymore with it as I will be going VR soon. Alloys are Audi TT with an offset of ET31 which is better for 4 stud narrow track cars. It may well become my daily driver for a while though.
