  1. Agree with greasing the latch regularly but I'm sure VW didn't intend on the end user removing the door handle every 6 months to lubricate it.
  2. This is clearly a weak point in the design. After having investigated the possibility of a repair I'm not convinced greasing it regularly will solve the problem. The point at which it breaks is very thin.
  3. "They just eat up the turf"
  4. If there is enough interest then I'll look into it but in the mean time I'll continue to work on the handle repair kit.
  5. There is a small tab underneath that has to be released, then slide the handle off at the same time. Can be a little tricky.
  6. Removed my centre console and adjusted my handbrake recently, it's fairly easy to do.
  7. Have you tried C and R Enterprises in Nottingham?
  8. So is it much quicker cus I've got one in my garage waiting to go in.
  9. I thought about Gold but in the end settled for Black.
  10. Looks spot on there mate 8) The opening in the bumper doesn't look out of place either.

I had a week in Torquay this summer and got 2 adults, 2 kids AND all our luggage in too.........couldn't see out the back tho.
  12. There seems to be millions of shades of Green
  13. I agree with Kev, if this was so important there would be practises put in place years ago to ensure this procedure is carried out.
  14. Can someone help with a part number for a gearshift circlip. Pic attached. Thanks Dave
  15. Just measured my old ones............both are 18".
  16. Just one thing to watch when adjusting the striker pin................when you get it aligned correctly it has a tendancy to move out of position when you tighten it.
  17. That is correct. They are 17mm. The whole bumper just slides out.
  18. kevhaywire, could extra steel be added to the existing weight? Just a thought.

    Gear Linkage ??

I had this problem. My problem turned out to be a 13mm nut on the kinkage had come loose. I tightened it up about half way along the adjusting slot and that sorted the problem. Sorry if it's sounds confusing but I've not got a photo.
  20. Not sure this qualifies as "easily" - this link is Japanese to English translated version... http://www.oichan.org/mods/in/shift/shorts_e.htm  Perhaps someone who's had the shift mechanism apart before might be able to understand it! Ok I've just took time to study the above linkage mod. It looks to me that the amount of throw reduction is very minimal and by moving the linkage by hand it doesn't look much at all. On top of this you have to remove the weight and that would probably make things worse. Ok it might be an easier mod but spending time on the gear stick assembly mod would be much more worth while.

    You'll need a 15mm spanner.
