you have a dim dip system standard on the corrado , without the uprated loom if you switch the sidelights on with the engine running (of ignition on ) reduced power i sent to the dip lamp via a resistor makig the dip beam shine on a low voltage ,by fitting the uprated loom the resistor circut still trys to send a lower votlage to the dip lamp but the uprated loom bypasses this and gives it full 12v's can't remember where the resistor is on the corrado(think its near the air filter ) but its a green tube thing with a couple of wires on it (the wires are yellow i think ) pull one of them off and tape it up and all should be well Rob

Looks ok to me , don't forget to get rear wheel bearings as well as you fit them in your new rear disks before you fit them i think GSF work out cheaper for the EBC pads and if you join the corrado club you get 15% discount at GSF and they deliver orders over £100 free (or used to ) Rob

without reading your post i said piston rings oil getting past to be burnt and air fuel mixture getting past under compression into the sump , after reading it ,it looks like that one of your answers as well , try and get a garage to do a cylinder leakage test , which is briefly where they pressurize the clylinders in turn with compressed air via a fitting screwed into the plug hole with the piston at tdc car in gear to prevent the engine spinning you check for pressure drop and if so where the air is excaping from bubbles in the header tank means head gasket air rushing when you remove the oil filler cap normaly means rings this test could tell you which clylinders are worn so you could just rebuild whats needed Rob EDIT I type too slow

Hi Max 16 valves both the 1.8 kr and the 9a 2.0 are old school stuff and don't respond well to "chipping" you will get far better results changing cams ,big valve heads, polished and ported heads and twin webers , not much easy power gains from these engines sorry , start with a good air filter and exhaust system then sort out the handling what you lose on the straights you can then make up in the bends :D Rob

puts the rad fan on if needed when the ignitions off , sometimes comes on 5 mins or so after you stop due to heat soak and the heat rising kr engines have another temp sender in that hole to control tick over the other small one is the dash temp gauge , maybe 9a's don't need it ? Rob

Be careful my mate booked cover with the AA or RAC can't remember which now sorry (thinks its the RAC ) and his box blew sorted out a pick up but as it was a few days later he returned home leaving the car to be picked up and returned to him .they picked the car up .phoned him and asked which garage do you want us to take it to " as the small prink allowed them to do this luckly some dubbers local to the ring sorted out a good garage ,but as of 10 months later the cars still out there , with no mot and as it a 16v jetta putting out 170+bhp i can't see it passing a TUV test to be make it able to be driven back check if the worst happens this will return the car to your UK address Rob

These have been talked about on many forums , i don't think they could move the volume of air required to work well and in fact i believe the fan would cause a restriction in the intake making it worse , first time i've seen a dump valve fitted to the unit mind you air needed for a 2000cc 4 cylinder would be 500cc per rev per min so at 3000 revs 1.5 millon cc of air per min ,it would need to be one hell of a fan to better that ,turbo's spin at huge speeds to increase intake pressure , i don't very think that thing needs a dump valve imo it won't work Rob must type quicker :)

have you tested the earth path ,using a test lamp to test for 12volts feed mean you nomaly clip the lamp to another earth point , also would think your testing lives etc with hatch open sometimes the harness is broken and loses 12v when the the hatch is closed because it bends at a different angle Rob

The boy who got them is away on holiday for the next two weeks so can't get a contact number till he returns cost was about £140 for the pair they came with poles in their own fitted case but no bases we made those , used a flat piece of steel about 120mm x400mm fitted with a threaded stud in the middle at one short side then got a cheap table leg from ikea drilling the plastic foot so that the pole can fit in they are printed on one side only as they are white two side would show PM in a coupl of weeks if you still need the contact details Rob
