Spoiler Problem, On the Way down it sticks on one side????
carpy25 replied to rado-steve's topic in Exterior
never heard of one side breaking before , but just think how many times it been up and down :D a quick test would be remove the spoiler atogether and see if both sides move on they own , would be easier to replace the whole unit with a second hand one than trying to repair yours i think rob -
Spoiler Problem, On the Way down it sticks on one side????

don't use wd40 or grease , as this will just allow dust to stick and make it even worse , what vw would do is use graphite power , i had a sticking problem used a soft pencil on the shaft then rubbed off the surplus with a rag never had a problem since Rob -
just becareful not to paint the bits hat the pads silde on as you will end up scraping it back off as its thick enough to stop the pads fitting Rob
-
brush on ,comes in two tins that you mix , what you don't use goes off after a while , needs 2or 3 coats to get a good shine , biggest problem is you cant drive car till its harderned at least 24 hours i think , still good stuff i think Rob

vosa a complete waste of time , trading standards got me an offer of half my money back £180 or go to court but as by now six weeks had gone by with a dead taxed and insured car sat out side my house and i'm being told don't touch it , and the show season looming , took the money and my mates and i fixed it with a second hand ebay axle , this is why VOSA are crap as when they inspected the car for over an hour they picked up the rear axle , a repair to an alloy wheel 5 years old and a loose seat (plastic guides worn) but when we dropped the rear axle off nearside spring snapped, the top plate rusted almost in two ,brake compensator seized , and when i fixed the axle, spring etc i then took it for a new MOT as the last inspection had deamed it unfit for use and when it passed and the tester tried to MOT it Vosa had not even voided the first MOT meaning i could have sold it in an unroad worthy condition legally with no come back and someone could, would have killed themselfs in it . problems with bad workmanship in garages forget Vosa , use a fire bomb it quicker and will put a bigger smile on your face Rob

its the conector for the door handle , it will still work on one side without it being conected , if its made no difference to yours then you must have an aftermarket system fitted also Rob

you have to make the outer longer , on the engine end theres a white piece that goes through a rubber grommit with a nut type end and a grooved sleve pull the sleve back to the right until all the slack is almost gone from the cable then theres a little clip ( called and "e" clip ) that clicks into one of the grooves , it more than likely still on your old cable ,start the car and check its not to tight and is holding the revs up if so move the clip closer the the nut end ie the right Rob

that's very good , looked for this for a while top job Rob

40 ish was in the first couple of weeks , got used to it now getting more like mid thirties now as the right foots got heavier :( this is mostly a and b road driving not many towns in wales 8) still happy with it :) couple of common faults need to be sorted out rear washer not working the waters running out of the bottom of the hatch , and this is causing the boot light/boot open indicator to stop working , all i need now is a fine day to sort it also hard to keep check on he mph as petrols rising faster than a hot air balloon around here so the extra £2 it costs to fill up this week is not less mph it just more expensive petrol Rob

My polo GT dropped a valve last week been replaced with this needs bigger rims , but not until next spring interior pics flash makes the dark blue dash look a lot lighter , full alcantara seats , climate,6 disk in the boot and all the usual Se spec like auto dip rear view mirror and pop out rear windows , 125 bhp goes ok but the best bit don't roll as much as i thought it would Rob

depends what you mean by modified , there can't be many still at standard ride height and at least 70% are on different wheels , mines not modified in my eyes because all things i've done can be reversed easlly Rob
