  1. Mine used to twang when turning on full lock and it was from worn top mounts.
  2. Welcome.....and get that handbrake adjusted!
  3. The twang twang part doesn't sound very CV jointy to me. I'd be looking more in the direction of front steering/suspension components, i.e. suspension top mounts, wishbone bushes and anti-roll bar bushes.
  4. samm_cvr6, I assume we're talking Mk.3 Golf GTi 16v here?
  5. Cheeky b4stard. I'm more annoyed about this than I'd like to be.
  6. Hmmm....apparently the Peugeot 106 is a girl's car....not manly like a Clio!
  7. I'm on the look out for the nobber as well.

    Starting from cold

I'm seriously looking forward to the results of changing the injectors. My Corrado does the same as described in this thread - often starts on two or three cylinders. In addition after a reasonable booting it likes to idle at 1500rpm as well, like a valve or something is sticking. I've changed the ISV with no effect. Occasionally the idle will suddenly drop from 1500rpm to 900rpm as if someone's flicked a awitch. Anyone else experience this? I expect it's completely unrelated to the poor starting but since there are plenty of 16v owners posting here it seemed as good a place as any to ask.
  9. It'll work in either, but I guess the rear is the more logical choice. Ideally you'd have a head unit with three pre-outs including one for the subwoofer exclusively, and likely giving you some kind of subwoofer level control.
  10. It's pictures like that driving shot of the beach that make me wanna leave this country a.s.a.p.
  11. You can bleed the calipers from the brake pipe unions if you HAVE to, rather than using the bleed nipple on the caliper. Not ideal but sometimes it's the only option.
  12. I'm probably not the best to post a comment having never driven the 2.0 16v. However, my last two cars (for eight and a bit years) were Mk.2 8v's and I can report that the Corrado 1.8 16v is a more rewarding drive and a lot less stressed at modern motorway speeds (that's why I bought it too). I used to get better fuel economy in the Digifant Golfs but I'd still rather have the Corrado for everyday driving. A lot of people say that their Corrado's cost them a lot of money in repairs but I haven't found that with mine at all. I do any work that's required myself and the car has cost me very little in the last year. Most of the money I spend has been on things I want rather than things I need, i.e. smoked rear lights, 17'' wheels, etc. Go for it, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Three grand will get you plenty of Corrado.
  13. Sweet. I'm sure this thread will save someone else some grief in the future. Glad you're sorted.
  14. Nah, the RAC site doesn't give any trends I don't think. Just specific vehicle details from a reg. number. As a side note, I was very disappointed recently to find the number plate "ELV 1S" was on a Land Rover Freelander. Rock and roll baby!
  15. I've got Nankang Ultra Sport NS-II all round on my car and they're utter crap in the wet. Surprisingly they're not too bad in the dry though and £55 each fitted. Probably best avoided though!!!!! Also they've worn incredibly quickly - GOOD!
  16. I got the joke btw.....just in case you thought I was having a go. I kinda like the all-round "used" appearance of the car......it suits me because it gets parked in a car-park at a university with loads of pikey students smacking doors into it and stuff. This way I don't have to care! The car is fairly solid, apart from a grotty driver's door, so I'm just waiting for it to blow up before I stick a 1.8T in it (although with 114k on the clock I might be waiting a while). It'll make a classic street sleeper 'cos it looks so shite!

    G60 Run in

    screeeeeeeeeeeccccchhhhhhh.........*BANG* sob sob
  18. A few grand spent on a £900 car.....um, don't hold your breath!
  19. carzymarcel's mate had one on his Corrado - saw it on Sunday. I quite liked it. The car was dark green by the way.
  20. LOL....I'm amazed that nobody has mentioned the dubious stain on the passenger seat! (it was the leaking passenger window, honest)
  21. To be honest I have no idea who the wheels are made by. I bought them off a mate who was skint - I didn't really want them but he needed the cash at the time. After I put them on the car I was like "hmmmm, not bad!" They have something like "Racing Power" on the centre cap. The multi-fitment hole pattern isn't ideal either. However, they are no heavier than the standard Sebrings. As for the rest of the car, crazymarcel has now seen it and can vouch for the fact that it's quite tatty in the metal and is flattered by the pics! At the end of the day it's a 14/15 year old work-horse...... You know what they say - "you can't polish a turd."
