  1. My rear lights are even cheaper made than InPro but I've had no problems whatsoever. Certainly no steaming up.
  2. I can't agree with the "characterless engine" remark at all. The 1.8T in my mum's Leon Cupra is an absolute peach. Last week it managed 38mpg on a return journey to Stansted too (approx. 200 miles). It'd be my choice every time - although I've never driven a G60!

    Ford?

"The only car that drives in two directions at once." That's not strictly true. I can recall Dinkus' VR driving in at least that many directions on a couple of occasions.....:)
  4. "the boot wont open properly though. It’s as bent as George Michael" Nice.
  5. If I don't get the driver's side under-dash tray in exactly right in my Corrado I get the same exact symptoms as above. The clutch pedal arm catches the trim.
  6. My adice would be to run a single cable (fused at the battery), and rated higher than both the amps combined, from the battery to the general amp location. Then use a fused splitter and properly rated cable to supply each of the amps seperately. A common block to split the ground keeps things neat. Looping the second amp remote feed off the first is fine. I'll draw you a picture if that's a bit confusing! It's never a stupid question if you don't know the answer. It'd be more stupid to blunder in and burn your car out.
  7. Wow...this thread is awesome. A rolling road springs to mind for a repeat run - a likely candidate for the original run in fact: low resistance for high 'virtual' acceleration and non-existant deceleration between gear-changes.....hmmmm.
  8. It had to happen sooner or later  Everyone was thinking it.
  9. If I was looking to sell my Corrado I'd be looking at a grand for it I guess. It's in decent nick with 116k on the clock and has never been anything other than reliable. I'm sure good Corrados are around for a grand although spares for Mk.2 Golfs are considerably less scarce so, in my opinion, that's where the smart money would go. A grand should be able to buy a good late-spec. Mk.2 I believe.
  10. Although the needle in the video reaches 60mph in a little under seven seconds, I can not see that is the *complete* video of the event. When the footage starts the engine note suggests that car is already moving, be it only at a few mph. The process of getting the car rolling in sprint from a standing is, obviously, a major factor in the final result. I believe a car with an estimated 180bhp is going to have a lot more trouble putting the power down than the video shows. Five pages....this thread is popular! *EDIT* After re-examining the video I stick with my original conclusion - a large proportion of the sprint is unaccounted for. The first frame shows the speedometer needle indicating slightly above 10mph. I can not even attribute this to parallax error as for that to be the case the recording device would had to have been looking 'up' at the speedometer. A time index of 0.067 seconds shows an indicated 12mph (approx.); after one second an indicated 20mph; and 0-30mph in 2.2 seconds. Although these figures can not be claimed as an exact science I suggest you go hunting for Mk.5 Golf GTIs as the Feb 05 issue of Evo magazine shows that it can *only* reach 30mph from a standing start in a paltry 2.7 seconds!
  11. Interesting. Normally people tell me to shut up. Bah...what do they know?!
  12. Interesting thread. However, using a method considerably more advanced than a stopwatch I make the 0-60 time 6.67 seconds. While this still seems like a good time it's clearly not from a standing start. Your car seems to accelerate very well and, believe me, I'm not trying to rain on your parade but this does seem like a heavily biased test. I'd love to hear Dr. Mat's views on it all!
  13. Slightly off-topic but I have to say jimsG60 'Damn, I love those wheels'.
  14. My mate paid £16k for a mint 51-reg, 4000 mile, Series 2 Elise with the Race Tech option pack last summer. It's a laugh on a sunny day but has zero practicality - you have to unbolt a body panel to fill the screen wash bottle for God's sake! Don't get me started about the wind-noise with the soft top on.... The ground clearance isn't that bad though and it can get over the vicious speed bumps on the way to my house with no bother. I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the performance overall. The exhaust note is also, as others have mentioned, absolutely poxy. As for the comment about the Elise build quality being inferior to that of the VX220...they're built in the same factory, just south of Norwich, by the same workers. I would expect build quality to be similarly poor. Just my 2p.
  15. Very tidy. It looks like the driver's door has dropped a little.
  16. To be honest I don't think you can beat the German style plates. They take about a week to arrive but are sheer class.....no holes to drill either if you use the plastic holders.
  17. I have to say I really liked the BBS wheels on the car. However, it looks just as good with the wheels it has now. That F250 is a seriously long truck!
  18. Car looks nice and straight. What happened to the BBS wheels?
  19. Open the bonnet - if there's a big empty space than the engine has gone. I'll get my coat....
  20. Ah....probably should have used the search before posting this....
  21. My mate just had an ABS fault diagnosed on his 1996 Golf VR6 Highline and it came up as: 01276 ABS hydraulic pump - v64 The main dealer (*gulp*) told him it was either the pump or controller but wanted to charge for two hours (at £60 per hour) toc onfirm which one. I have zero experience with VAG-COM so any advice would be appreciated.

  23. ....but it makes for a good read.
