Can you be done for speeding by a "Camera Partnership&q
bcstudent replied to matth76's topic in General Car Chat
None say 'Police' on them, do they? As far as I was aware all camera vans are operated by civilians. -
Are you sure? As far as I'm aware there's no connection between any temperature sensor and the fuel-injection system on the 1.8 16v engine. The fuel is metered mechanically, with cold-start enrichment handled by a pressure regulating valve.

That's not strictly true. Barclays offer loans at about 6%, which means £6k over three years costs £400 in interest.

I would dare say many Corrado owners found there way into the VW scene via the Mk2 Golf; I know I did. I think there'll be plenty of people interested in pics of such a sweet-looking Golf.
-
No, but it looks like a bleedin' beautiful example. I'd say it's worth every bit of the 'Buy It Now' price based on what I can see.

I think it's pretty clear the guy is a perfectionist, and that was the only way the paint was ever going to be good enough. I think it was worth the effort and looks incredible.
-
I like it. Give me a couple more years and my Corrado will look about the same.
-
Wow, that sounds incredible. It's a beautifully understated car considering its potential. Great work man, impressive figures for a daily driver.
-
I'll join the long line of happy customers too.

My 16v leaks a small amount of water from a plastic flange on the end of the cylinder head, above the gearbox, meaning I have to add about two litres per month. If you have coolant in the system you should be able to spot any small-ish leaks as they'll probably leave crystalised coolant residue behind. Mine doesn't leak enough to ever leave a puddle on the floor. Thinking about it, I should really get 'round to fixing that leak...

I had a completely standard G-reg white GTE 16v in 1995, with 40k on the clock. It was made of paper but by God it went well, and it was surprisingly economical. It would get to an indicated 145mph and was accelerating so hard at 120mph that the speedo was still counting in 2's. Incredible engine linked to some fairly scary handling! I sold it after a year to make way for my second Mk2 GTI. It was the last non-VW car I owned.

420 euros...that's so cheap. What an experience it would be.

That'll be the Lambda then. You may just find the connections are a bit damp; my mum's Leon Cupra had the same problem and a bit of drying out fixed the problem. -
There isn't an ECU as such, but there is a TCI-H switch unit and an FEI control unit for the ignition.
-
Got any pictures of the end of the cylinder head? I'd like so see the positions of the old sensor and the new sensor.

possibly the worst timing belt tensionner in the world

Wow, what a complete piece of shite. -
I think your first step is to check the spark again as that'll at least rule out the ignition components, including the Hall sensor. If you're still having problems after that I have a factory service manual for the KR engine I can copy you some extracts from.

Earth the temperature sender wire and see if the gauge rises. If so, it'll be the sender, if not it'll be the wiring or the gauge. The fact that you've already changed the sender would point to the wiring or the gauge, obviously, but it's a free check and worth doing for peace of mind I think.

Possibly the heater matrix gone...Soaking wet passenger side
bcstudent replied to stevie_f_2004's topic in Interior
It's probably just the gasket under the blower intake in the scuttle panel that's allowing the water past. Remove the vent, apply liberal amounts of sealer and refit. Once the carpet's wet it'll make the windows steam up. -
I noticed severe vibration (at all engine speeds) when I changed my 16v rear mount to a new GSF part last year. It was horrendous and I gave it three months to settle with no change. In the end I changed it again for a Febi mount from http://www.vwspares.co.uk/ and the vibration disappeared. The cost was about the same as the GSF mount. I probably only did 1000 miles on that three month period, but I'd have expected it to settle in that time if it was ever going to. My opinion of the GSF mounts is that they're absolute crap and to be avoided at all costs. I also tried loosening all engine mount bolts and allowing the engine to find it's own rest position. That made no difference at all.

15/19. Surprising how many were illegally parked. -
A 21,000 mile G60 in the UK would make three times that money!

I've got a GTE dash and loom in the shed somewhere too. It was one of those things I always intended to put on eBay but never got 'round to.
