  1. You know, there's just something about the words 'Californian' and 'coast' when used together.... Nice car by the way, I can see the attraction. Welcome back.
  2. Mmmmmm....Audi.... I take it he's fixed up after bailing on his bike a while back then?
  3. Hmmm, my original accumulator was rotten and leaking so I swapped it for a Mk2 Golf GTI K-Jet one I had in the shed. Apparently the Corrado and Golf accumulators are different but I don't have ETKA so I can't confirm this. If the accumulator was the problem then why would the car start fine if left overnight? I can pretty much guarantee it's nothing to do with a worn engine. My car has just gone straight through its MOT and the exhaust emissions were low enough for me to believe the engine is in good order: CO 2.9% and HC 166ppm.
  4. Wow. I really like the black with white wheels. Good job!
  5. My 1.8 16v is exactly the same as yours. Does it start ok if left overnight?
  6. I haven't seen Josh on here for a while. Is he still around?
  7. Yep, I'd say those words have been well and truly eaten. Nice job Supercharged :thumbleft:
  8. Hankook Ventus Sport K104 are also very good and well within your budget.
  9. I doubt the car will be on its original clutch at 140k. Do you have any idea if it's been replaced? For the record, I've recently replaced the clutch in my 1.8 16v but the front engine mount and gearbox mount are knackered. I have the same symptoms you're describing.
  10. I'm not convinced that the colour of a Storm will affect it's value in the slightest.
  11. Wow. I'm preparing to eat my words.
  12. Have you checked all the earths in the engine bay?
  13. Like Supercharged said ^^^^ However, if you're sure it's the alternator you'll definitely be able to feel/hear a dodgy bearing by removing the belt and spinning the alternator pulley by hand.
  14. Well the two pics look the same to me. I'm with dr_mat on this one - they likely took a freshly valeted car and drove it through some puddles for a week for the 'before' pic.
  15. White? :) My Photoshop skills aren't legendary.
  16. My 1.8 16v is the opposite. It always starts fine from cold but if left for a couple of hours after reaching normal operating temperature it only starts with my foot on the throttle and then runs on two/three cylinders for about 10 or 20 seconds. I've gotten used to it now! After a sustained period of driving above about 60mph it refuses to idle at under 1500rpm unless the engine is switched off and restarted too. As I write this I'm wondering why I put up with the heap of junk. I'm off to buy a Ford.....j/k.
  17. I find the Corrado 1.8 16v isn't 'fast' so much as 'adequate'. However, it is cheap to insure (for a Corrado), cheap to run (for a Corrado) and is at the classier end of the £1000 car market. Head to the Wagon and Horses on the Dereham road at around lunch-time on the first Sunday of the month for the Club GTI meet. There are often a few Corrados there in all engine flavours and I'm sure the owners will be happy to chat.
  18. I replaced just one headlight after a front end crunch in my 1990 Corrado 18 months ago. If you were looking closely you could see the difference but, ultimately, it looked fine.
  19. Is that not a supercharger?!
  20. I've only been out of control twice in a car as far as I can remember - both times in (different) Mk2 Golf GTI 8Vs. First time 270 degree spin on a bend and hit nothing, second time ended up upside down in a ditch. Same event, vastly different result. Small factors can influence the outcome rather dramatically. I'm glad the factors were in your favour this time. Now go to your room and don't let it happen again!
  21. You should be able to feel if there's resistance or not without even looking I'd say. I rarely feel cold air through the vents either and my heater controls are working fine; it's variable between the limits of warm and burning hot. In summary I think it's just a fairly naff system.
  22. Crikey, I didn't think they still went for that much!
