  1. Maybe just 'because they can'. I understand they have to recoup the development costs and all but I agree that it's a bit steep.
  2. If he's only got 142bhp pushing all that weight he's unlikely to stand a chance against even a standard G60 I'd say. 0-60 in 10.1 seconds?! It'd be almost criminal to take his money.

    crash

Hahahaha. Sucks about the joyrider though.
  4. I have a feeling it either ran very lumpy, smoked or rattled a bit. I can't recall exactly but I'm sure there was a running problem. I'm also sure the guy would have taken two grand for it on account of the problems. I may be imagining all that though :)
  5. When I got my hands on the (still) faulty Corrado belonging to my friend I found that the pedal was only opening the throttle about 3/4 of the way and the air intake was split. It didn't solve the cold running problem but it doesn't 'alf go better when it's warm!
  6. I definitely remember someone going to look at this car and starting a thread about it a while back.
  7. Cheers for the post VEEDUBBED. The Hall sender was my first guess back when I didn't know anything about the 9A engine or have first-hand experience of the fault. It was also the first guess of the garage it went to in Essex and they changed the distributor and Hall sender for brand spanky new items at great cost. Since then the following parts have also been replaced with no effect: plugs, leads, distributor cap, rotor arm, coil, cold start valve, coolant temperature switch, differential pressure valve. I can't think of anything else that could be a problem except the ECU and I've sourced one of those from the artist formerly known as corradowales. I forgot to mention in the previous post that when I first looked at the fuel distributor I found that in the past someone had damaged the differential pressure valve wiring. The two wires had been trapped under a plastic cover and were shorted together. Ohm's law tells us that replacing the load in the circuit with a dead-short could very well have caused high enough currents to damage to the control components in the ECU. I'm praying that the new ECU will make the problem go away because, quite frankly, I'm out of ideas!
  8. Speak for yourself. *Beats chest in manly style* :) Carcinogens? Pah! I've already shown cancer the door once...
  9. When I picked up the 16v coil the guy did say that they were all cheap because they were part of an old stock clearance. He seemed surprised that they still had any left when he checked the stock computer. Oh, and with respect to the cold running fault the 16v in question has... Since the last time I posted in this thread I've replaced the coolant temperature switch, which made no difference. Based on the information I have about the 9A engine it seems that the differential pressure valve (DPV) control circuit is at fault. This has been pretty much confirmed by finding that the car drives exactly the same (if not slightly better) with the DPV disconnected, i.e. poor cold starting/running and slightly flat power due to a lean mixture during acceleration. After trying another DPV with no success I tested the current flow in the circuit to find that the ECU appears to be wrongly controlling the valve. Basically there seems to be a negative current flow in the circuit all the time when running, which apparently corresponds to a leaner mixture. The next step is to try another ECU but at this stage I'm not sure if there's anything other than the coolant temperature switch, Lambda probe and throttle switches that influence the control of the DPV. I'll keep you posted.
  10. :salute: :thumbleft: :notworthy: Yep...I think that just about sums it up :)
  11. lol...I'm glad you saw the funny side of it :)
  12. Looks like it! A 'porch' is a covered shelter at the entrance to a building. A 'Porsche', on the other hand, is the name of a German performance car manufacturer. Spelling mistakes can be very costly here....tough crowd.
  13. My local VW dealership insists on changing the tensioner and cambelt at the same time. They've been burned too many times with worn tensioners failing shortly after fitting a new belt. The peace of mind is priceless.
  14. 'Kompressor' eh? Time for a full spec. list.....
  15. I don't really know how to use ETOS so I can only find the same information as g-man. Anyone know how to get a diagram from a part number?
  16. Is that first one Zarman's car?
  17. I lived in Victoria for a year in 2001/2002 and have been back for a month evey summer since. When my PhD is done I'm heading back there for good. Remember: saying 'eh?' is better than saying 'huh?'
  18. I'm currently downloading v4.80-202 with BitTorrent. It says it's the Feb 2004 release, so not that current, but it'll do for the Corrado I assume.
  19. This is another piece of the 9A puzzle I'd love to understand too!
  20. Thanks for looking that up in ETKA. I'm not 100% sure the ISV is working properly on this car either. For a simple management system it sure is hard to fault find!
  21. I'm sorry, I should have been clearer in my last post. I meant when I was at the dealer originally - before you supplied the part number - there was nothing on the list that sounded like the right temp. sender in the descriptions. I was just wondering what the desctiption is of that part 026 906 161 on ETKA, for instance do they call it an 'ECU temperature switch' or something? It doesn't make a lot of difference, I was just curious. I've now ordered one but can't see it solving my running problem. I've tried so many things I've just lost faith!
  22. Out of interest, can anyone tell me what ETKA lists that part number as? When I was looking through the temp. sender list at the dealers nothing ETKA listed sounded right!
