I believe speeding points are valid for three years and come off your licence after four years...or something. That's how it worked for me anyways with an SP30.

Clean licence since 2000 when the only three points I've ever had came off. I'm probably going to sell the R1 next week too, hopefully minimising the chances of future endorsements.

Not at all, I'm sure there are plenty of people on here who would enjoy reading a thread about how you tackled the conversion, i.e. what you needed to change, what you kept, etc. I know I would :) -
Driving around in Norfolk, a mixture of country A-roads and town/city, I've averaged 34mpg in the 2.0 16v over the last 500 miles; I wouldn't exactly say I've been driving Miss. Daisy either. I was always under the impression that the G60 was pretty heavy on fuel but, having never owned one, that's nothing more than my assumption. I've never driven a G60 either so I can't compare the performance. The 2.0 16v goes well enough and suits my driving style - that's about all I know.

I've owned a 1.8 16v Corrado for about two years and I've been using a friend's 2.0 16v Corrado for the last couple of weeks. I find the 2.0 16v much, much easier to drive. It has no shortage of low down grunt and is a lot easier to live with day-to-day than the 1.8. I would say though that as it doesn't require the thrashing that the 1.8 does it loses some of the character of the 1.8, which makes you work for your rewards. I would also agree that the 2.0 16v is not a difficult engine to work on. I certainly wouldn't describe it as complex! Oh yeah, I don't know about the rest of them but the 2.0 16v Corrado outside would wipe the floor with a Golf GTI 8v. I've owned a couple of those in the past, one for six years, and they are no straight line performer. Maybe there wouldn't be much in it to 60mph but after that the Golf has nothing. It's horses for courses. I wanted the cheapest Corrado I could get so I bought a hound of a 1.8 16v. If I could justify the extra purchase and running costs of a VR6 then I'd have one, but I can't. If you're like me and looking to continue in the Corrado market at the budget end then you could do a lot worse than the 2.0 16v.

The closed throttle switch definitely affects power on the 9A. If you open the throttle and press the switch it causes the engine to lose power and surge. What's different about how the 9A and the KR closed throttle switches work?

It's on the throttle body.

Cheap to buy but with current fuel prices I wouldn't want to use it as a run around!

Mmmmmmm....silver..... As much as I love the black Corrado I have, I don't think I can resist the draw of the silver Corrados for much longer. Yours looks like a beauty.

Nope, the engines are just mounted inline as opposed to transversely... I believe the technical term is 'longitudinally mounted'. What a strange word! -

Cheers Gavin, that's some useful info. I think my next step is to examine the components of the fuel distributor and maybe even swap the whole lot for one from a scrappy. There can't be much else to try!

Well, the Bosch specialist wasn't all that helpful really. It seems to me that either the ECU is being told by the closed throttle switch to put the car into its overrun cut-off mode, or one part of the overrun cut-off system is failing. What I need to know now is what happens during the overrun cut-off phase, i.e. when the engine speed is above idle and the closed throttle switch is made.

Everything people can tell me is a help, cheers. I ran the car this morning and, predictably, it was perfect since the weather was dry and warm-ish. It does at least seem to idle better since I gave the ISV a clean but I may be imagining that. I'd love to think it was the ISV that was causing the problem, but after looking at the piping I can't see that even if was jammed open it'd make a difference with the throttle open. The air would just appear to have two paths into the inlet manifold - via the ISV and via the throttle butterfly. I'm going to head to the Bosch specialist in Norwich this afternoon to ask him what he reckons. Hopefully he'll be in a friendly free-advice giving mood :)
