Part number 191 803 483 (fuel filler neck repair panel)
vw rule replied to vw rule's topic in Suppliers Forum
I can't upload any photos, so please see link below. https://www.clubgti.com/forums/index.php?threads/another-project-i-dont-need.279066/page-7 That's pretty much how mine looked rusted through like that in those photos from the ClubGTI Forum. Like I say it's caused by all the damp mud that you just can't quite get to. Si -
Part number 191 803 483 (fuel filler neck repair panel)
vw rule replied to vw rule's topic in Suppliers Forum
It's normally welded at the top of the O/S/R inner wheel arch, basically the top of the fuel filler neck of fuel tank is bolted to it, to help stabilize / secure it. Quite often this part in question is rusted out as there can be damp dirt / mud stuck up there, that over time eats in to the mental around & behind the fuel filler flap area. I've had to cut mine out as it was rusted through. Si -

Hi Chris, have you thought about doing a batch of the headlight lenses, possibly acrylic like you did with the fog light one's. Many thanks Si

This is a great idea Chris. Many thanks Si

I think all VR6s had the slightly raised bonnet in the centre. VR6 bonnets slightly raised in centre ____-----____ Early bonnets dipped slightly in the centre. ----____---- Wings there's roughly a difference of 10mm between the width of later and early wings. Si

Oh fair play, yeah I've tried some of my local places near me but weren't much cop, including Screwfix. Hence getting them from EBay. Those original retaining bolts for the power steering rack are a nightmare to get out sometimes, probably not a bad thing they are obsolete now. Si

Right think I've found some on eBay. Ebay seller Kayfast Ebay item number 362293650219 These are M8 X 80mm long with thread pitch 1.25mm, thread is 24mm long and these are shouldered flanged bolts = flange is 18mm plus are high tensile 8.8 zink plated. Hex head of bolt is 13mm spanner size. Original bolts are M8 X 75mm long high tensile 8.8 EBay item number 161819587642 Nuts I've gone for flanged nylon lock M8 zink plated with 1.25mm thread pitch to match new bolts. Hex nuts are 13mm spanner size. EBay item number 181048351786 Washers gone for stainless M8 lock serrated, these will help keep the bolts tight to subframe and lock nuts tight. Si

Just got off the phone with my local VW Main Dealer, these two items are no longer available through them, been obsolete now since July 2018 Power Steering retaining bolt x4 fitted Part number N901 845 02 Nuts for the above bolts x4 fitted Part number N902 264 04 So I'll probably look on Fleebay, and find / use some Flange hexagon bolts that are zinc plated and high tensile grade 8.8 Because the original bolts have those annoying splines on the head stem, that can make them a real pain to remove / fit. Hope this helps Si

This is pretty much all I can find out on it: First registered 3rd August 1995 Primary colour = green MOT until 8th July 2020 Also says total MOT tests 17, not sure if that is correct, possibly could have been off the road for a few years. MOT from 1998 will be the old hand written type up to roughly 2002/3 then afterwards changed to the new computerized format. History I've seen goes back to 2006 on the MOT website, so before that current owner/seller should have service history to prove. Update: No MOT test was done in 2015 so possibly off the road. And again in 2017 MOT testing logged for this Corrado from 2006 to 2014 Then from 2016 and stops. MOT again in 2018 to 2019 Mileage 208168 at recent MOT Date tested 20th June 2019 MOT PASS ************************* advisories: Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material all underbody (1.1.11 ©) Front Headlamp has a product on the lens but not seriously reducing light output both headlamps tarnished (4.1.4 (b)) signs of corrosion throughout exhaust system ************************* Last couple of years had problems with ABS warning light staying on, according to MOT history, but has since been sorted by the looks of it ? Check service history for above, if you go and look at it. PS I can see mileage from 2006 if anyone on here needs it, if going to look at car. Hope this helps Si

Reg is N958 SOE Yeah there were some photos on the eBay sale page, but like you say have been removed. Possibly could be sold now as it says- awaiting collection. Mileage on eBay advert 209k Si

At the moment we're all in the same boat, due partly to the recent Forum lock down error, which unfortunately has encrypted or deleted old photos from most members threads/posts. Your best bet is to request that any interested members get in touch via PM, and ask to exchange mobile numbers, or post up your mobile number on this thread. Alternatively it's to upload a short video or photos onto YouTube, then once the items in question are sold simply then remove your upload from YouTube if required. Hope this helps Si

Agreed as above. Could I also please ask that you Toby, if poss could give us some insight of your overheads, in other words how much do we need to generate to help stay afloat, so to speak. For example if there are 100 members, and 40 of these are paying £15 subscription membership for the year, well that's £600 Then you have the Forum donators who've helped regularly each month or each year, so we could be up to £1500 or £2000 as a guess, which in my opinion is not enough, if you've said you're swallowing most of the running costs. If this Forum becomes payment membership only, then £15 X 100 members is £1500 which still isn't much different so maybe we might have to pay slightly more for membership, £50 X 100 members is £5000 for the year, then add on any donators contributions and we could be looking at £6000 But like I say we all need to know how much help you need financially and with running this Forum. Many thanks Si

Cheers no worries. Just sent you a PM Si

Best 3 tools I've semi made are: 1) using a 6mm combination spanner with a small Philips screwdriver bit super glued in the ring spanner end, great way to undo the small retaining screw for the Corrado ignition switch. 2) using an old spare oil pump gear from a 9A eng block, and welded the gear to a 1/2" X 7" long metal bar, then grinded away the gear teeth, to gain access to the oil pump shaft, basically there are female splines in the centre of the gear that slide on the male splines of the oil pump shaft on the 9A eng. Great way to manually spin the oil pump in situ, if you've done any engine work to the bearings or the oil pump, it allows you to prime the oil pump before starting. 3) used a 1" X 1/2" X 18" long piece of wood, and taped a small spirit level to the centre of the 1" flat side, used this to set up my camber on my Corrado. Recently bought a newish car to replace my old Polo
vw rule replied to vw rule's topic in General Car Chat
That's my thoughts it's just a weak item unfortunately. So you've been there as well then with your 02 sensor, that's mental that your Corrado has done 150k on the original 02 sensor, compared to your Seat at 50k I suppose some items aren't made like they used to be ? Also I purchased the newly released Haynes manual for my Seat Ibiza off Amazon, which arrived late last week, it's not bad but nowhere near as good as the comprehensive Bentley manual for the Corrado which is so detailed and 3 times the thickness. Hi Toby, likewise it would be a crying shame to see this great forum disappear, as it's a fantastic community with priceless info that you just can't get anywhere else. Regarding payment only membership that's probably not a bad thing, as it may stop the SPAM one hit wonders, but then on the other hand anyone that's joined this forum years ago, may only reply or post every once in awhile, and might feel they're not getting their money's worth. It's swings and roundabouts but for me I honestly don't mind continuing paying for membership if it helps keep this great forum alive. It would be good if poss to get the photo issues rectified please, as hardly any of us can attach any at the moment. And the Wiki howto is a great asset to this forum, which ideally we all need back up and running on full cylinders so to speak please. Si

Pictures lost - loaded via forum's picture loader
vw rule replied to _Matt_'s topic in Site Comments and Questions
Yes I've lost various photos also from other threads, to be honest I think we're all in the same boat, think it was caused possibly by the recent error block that this forum unfortunately had. We'll have to see if Toby the Forum owner can do anything to rectify the photo errors, possibly they've been deleted or are just hidden ? I think Toby mentioned there's a second update in the works for the server ? Si -
True can't argue with that. Si
