  1. When you're signed in on this forum look at the top right of screen close to your forum name, it says SETTINGS click on that and it opens up the settings screen for your own profile, on left side it allows you then to edit different sections of your profile. On the right side of screen in a grey icon box it says (view all subscribed threads) look just below that where it says Quick Navigation = next to that again in a grey icon box it says SETTINGS click on this. This opens up all the different categories on this forum, scroll down to the bottom half of list where it says SERVER STATUS UPDATES, I've tried clicking on it to see what it shows but it sends me to Twitter  Si
  2. I'd definitely check the welding as James has mentioned, also Simeon is correct that you won't get much of a bit from the handbrake with just one click, plus the biting point isn't always even on 1 click, 3 to 4 clicks is normally good standard operation for the handbrake with rear disks, and it's 2 to 4 clicks when the handbrake is really biting tight. If your getting 5 to 7 clicks before the handbrake bits, then the cables are too slack or the brake calipers are not set up correctly. Some people think you can just pump the brake pedal to pump out the caliper pistons on rear brakes, actually this works but not always, sometimes you have to use the piston winding tool, to wind the piston out so it's close to the brake pads, then you can adjust the handbrake cable. It's rare but sometimes if you don't wind the piston out evenly on both rear brake calipers it can give problems when adjusting the handbrake. Also double check that the cables are located correctly where they pass through brackets and tubes. Si
  3. I've looked on both websites VW Classic Parts and also VW Heritage, both say handbrake cable length 1613mm Pattern cables vary in length from 1605mm, 1613mm, 1616mm, 1620mm, 1624mm and 1640mm for the Corrado, which is why I've never bought cheap pattern parts for my Corrado as they don't always fit correctly. I was under the impression that the Corrado handbrake cable is the same length both sides, and for all variations ? The early Corrado's were based on the A2 platform including front and rear brakes 1989 to roughly 1992 The slightly later Corrado's including the VR6 had possibly a slight change to the rear brakes more like the MK3 Golf rears 1993 to 1995 Like I say I thought all Corrado's had the same handbrake cable length 1613mm. It's possible the early MK1 Corrado's may have had a very very slight difference in cable length compared to the later MK2 Corrado's, but I've never seen it myself. ger040 are you sure you've typed the correct cable length of 1015mm and not 1615mm ?? Rob I've had a look and measured my original aerial and it's definitely 410mm or 41cm (16") long. That's measuring from the base of aerial to the end tip, but not including the 5mm stud. Sent you a text as well. Si

ChrisL yes I believe you can still purchase the whole aerial as a kit, but they are starting to be a little rarer now. Best bet is EBay or Amazon, you could try the main dealers but it's probably obsolete now. I think the Corrado aerial was used up until roughly 2007 on other VWs then they changed slightly. On my old MK3 Polo that I used to have, that had pretty much the same aerial set up as our Corrado's. Si

Rob I bought an aerial new from VW main dealer, think it was £56 for the whole kit back in 2006 From memory I think the bee sting mast is 41cm (410mm) as standard, I'll measure mine and let you know as it's the original stock item. Regarding the wrong angle Rob it could be as Keyo has mentioned, the small 5mm male stud could be bent slightly. I'm on WhatsApp Rob if you need to send a photo, as it's free as long as you have WiFi Si
  8. I've been reading about a few thing's online, one of which is this persistent error block we're all experiencing, it looks like the server for this forum needs a software update or filtering procedure to get rid of this error. Si

Hi Rob, as Keyo has mentioned above EBay item number is: 171216178792 Says in the sellers advert that, This mast has a length of 410mm (16" inches) with a flexible black rubber sheathed coil around the whip, i.e bee sting. It has a fixed 5mm diameter male thread which is 7mm in length. Hirschmann replacement mast as supplied to VW/ VAG by the Original Equipment (OE) according to the EBay seller. Cost £14.95 + £3.25 postage States they only have limited stock available so possibly have 12 to 20 max left ? Rob I've sent you a text message of the above just in case the forum starts playing up again. Si
  11. If the main forum administrator doesn't get in contact or any of the super moderators, then as Bauhaus has mentioned this forum will stay broken or disappear completely :( Hopefully the main man t700bes or one of the super moderators will get this sorted ASAP :help::help::help: Si
  12. Another thing I've noticed is that I'm no longer receiving email alerts from this forum, when someone replies to a thread I'm subscribed to, the last email alert I had was in late July. Si

  14. I still can't view my own profile account, also checked a few other members and they're the same, though some by the looks of it you can view. plus I can only view a small limited number of threads, most I can't get into due to this block or encrypted screen that comes up. We need one of the administrators to hopefully get this error sorted ASAP please. I've already sent a PM to t700bes, and also CazzaVR As a caution I'd say it's probably best to stay logged in / signed on to this forum, because if you do sign out then if the encryption / block gets worse you may not be able to sign in again if at all. Si

  16. Good to hear you got it sorted, I've tried to reply to this thread but haven't been able to due to a error / block on this forum, apparently other members on this forum are having similar problems. Si
  17. Same. I haven't been able to reply to any threads for the last 5 plus days, plus couldn't even view my own forum account. Yesterday I sent a PM to t700bes asking if he could look into this problem and get this block removed if possible. Si
  18. The only fuel breather that will be low enough to possibly be at risk in 3" to 4" flood water is the carbon canister, the base of the canister is open I believe to help vent, it's possible water could be sucked up if the recirculation value was open which is connected via two vacuum hoses, one from carbon canister and the other goes to the throttle body. Or as the other guys have said could be water in the lower electronic sensors, or it could just be a coincidence that the car broke down there and then in water ? The crank sensors can crack around their plastic covering, which then let in damp and can cause all kinds of starting problems. Crank sensor and cam sensor are what tell the spark plugs and injectors to fire I think. Coolant temp switch also known as the thermal transmitter, sometimes when these go the car won't fire up. Also as FENDERVG has mentioned about the lambda sensor, it is rare but sometimes they can cause none starting symptoms. Are you a member of the AA or RAC, I'm just thinking of you getting your Corrado back home save and sound. Si
  19. That's a really good price £174 for comprehensive insurance for a VR6 modified Golf, to be honest the Golf chassis should be able to take the extra BHP as the Corrado partly came from the MK2 Golf. I did a Silverstone track day in a Ferrari 360 roughly about 2 years ago, I was chatting to the instructor in the old pit lane just before we set off, anyway he asked what car do I drive so at the time had my old MK3 Polo, plus said I've also got a Corrado, he replied the MK2 Golf chassis is one of the best VW ever made, and told me is why the Corrado handles so well as VW used a great foundation in using the MK2 Golf. Also said the VR6 is one hell of an engine, and mentioned about the KR 16v that in it's time was one of the best engines they used in the MK2 Golf. Sounds like the Golf you're getting has been done well from what you've mentioned / listed above. Si
  20. I'd be inclined to tell your insurance company because if you were involved in a traffic incident, and someone had to come out from your insurance to assess the damage, and see the MK2 Golf isn't standard then your insurance could be void, as in their eyes you've made the cars performance jump from a 4cyl with 115BHP or 139BHP up to a 6cyl with 178 BHP. Yes you can tell your insurance of any none standard modification from factory you've added, but I believe what they really care about are any modifications that enhances the cars performance, so an engine change would be spotted if they knew what they were looking for. But if you had the car looking say, standard but had the engine re-mapped, different cams fitted, forged pistons fitted, increased the fuel pressure, you'd more than likely get away with it, because no one can see anything has been changed. Your best bet is phone around first before you start your VR6 project and get different quotes, other than that you'll have to go to a insurance company that specializes in modified cars. Some insurers won't touch kit cars or modified cars or high performance cars. Si
  21. No worries. On my Corrado there's at least 8 of the plastic clips in question, so possibly similar amount on other Corrado models. Si
  22. This item 1H0 201 449 is still available at VW main dealers and is used on Audi's, VWs and Skoda 1988 to present. This clip is a one piece clip that can hold four 8mm (1/4") fuel pipes. Cost per each is £3.42 For more details on this item please see link below: Hope this helps Si
  23. I'll update the OEM VW PARTS PRICE ENQUIRIES thread with the above item 1H0 201 449 Link below: (added on page 26) http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?52187-OEM-VW-Parts-Price-Enquiries/page26 Si
  24. Hello there, have a read of this forum thread from Pistonheads.com it's got a lot of information regarding the MK2 Golf VR6 conversion. Link below: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=86&t=1222215 Si
  25. Possibly yes as they are used on the 1.8 16v which ran along side the G60 from 1989 to 1992, plus they both have a under body fuel swirl pot like the 2.0 16v that I have. The MK2 Golf type fuel clip is different, as the 2 centre clips are for 3/16 brake pipes, and the 2 outer clips are for 8mm (1/4") fuel pipe, this is a one piece clip but holds two different sized pipes = 191 201 449 The clip I needed is the one piece clip that can hold four 8mm (1/4") fuel pipes. = 1H0 201 449 This one is still available like I say at the main dealers and is used on Audi's, VWs and Skoda 1988 to present. I've actually ordered some more as mine are all broken pretty much. Si
