  1. That's very true but if the petrol price still stays below £1.50 over the next 15 to 20 years people won't swop to electric, if anything it'll increase to above £2 or more, to force people financially to change. Well for the short term possibly ? Si
  2. In my opinion I think petrol will still be around in 50 years, but the tax on it will be expensive, regarding road tax god knows. But you still see old classic cars now on the road, from the 1960s or 1940s, so I'm sure there still will be in the future, even when electric cars become the norm. Diesel fuel on the other hand they just can't get this any cleaner, as regards to emissions, so diesel possibly will become eradicated but the large trucks may just still use this fuel, untill they've got an equal or more powerful replacement power source, especially when we see trucks that are 30 or 40 tons in weight. Si
  3. Yeah tell me about it these parts now for the Corrado are like gold dust, I started collecting spare parts for mine when I first bought it back in 2002, It's the only way if you're going to keep a rare car long term. Sometimes I wish I had bought a MK2 Golf as the parts are more readily available, plus companies like Heritage and Classic, will be more willing to produce items for it, as there's more of a demand compared to our Corrado's. But like I say that's why you have to stock pile especially with the Corrado. If I didn't have the items I have as spares, I think it would be very difficult to keep her on the road, I'm not saying it couldn't be done but it just saves time and money further down the road so to speak. Si
  4. To be honest mine on my car still works, plus I have a secondhand one again that works also, but you need spares for these old cars now. Ok mate cheers. Many thanks Si
  5. Right just got off the phone with the parts guy at VW in Poole, he said the last registered price was in roughly 2009 to 2010 here in the UK, cost was £109 I'm sure there's an old thread on here, where at least 5 guys on here did a group buy, and purchased the last remaining sensors, I recall the price being close to £100 So what are your thoughts on price ? Si
  6. I'll phone up my local VW Dealer, and found out what the price is/was. Si
  7. You say you bought it off UK Ebay, are you not UK based then I'm presuming ? Si
  8. Hello there, Part number 357 927 810 On ETKA it says brake distance sensor, certainly is for UK Corrado's, possibly for others in or around Europe, but most LHD Corrado's I think with ABS, had the whole ABS pump and master cylinder as one unit, basically didn't have a brake servo. The part you have I'm guessing is worth not less than £80 to £100 ?? I can't remember what they were new from the Main VW Dealers. I'd be happy to take it off your hands, if you're thinking of selling it ?? Hope this helps Si
  9. Nice one good to hear you've sorted it. Si
  10. Hello mate sorry to hear you're selling up, but I understand needs are a must. Looks a great VR6 in the attached link, shame you have to sell up. To be honest £9000 is not a bad price for a standard well maintained Corrado VR6, especially as there's not many around now, plus if you've got a pile of spares that'll make the sale more attractive to potential buyers. Many years ago now in the mid 1990s I was looking at the MK2 Golf 8v & 16v, I was very close to getting one but in the end I chose the MK2 Scirocco that lead to owning my Corrado, I still do rate the MK2 Golf especially the later ones with the big bumpers, also the MK2 SEAT Ibiza wasn't too bad that had the 2.0 16v ABF lump. They're probably the two best 16v engines from that era the KR and the ABF engines, the 9A lump in standard form is a much more watered down engine, has decent torque but only just lacks the extra acceleration, there's not really a lot in it but you can feel it on the road when you plant your right foot. PS hope your Corrado goes to a good home, preferably to a fellow enthusiast. Also don't be a stranger, pop on here and say hello, let us know how your MK2 Golf is going. Si

    Horn not working

Top man good to hear it's working again. Si
  13. Honestly it could just be a coincidence that this has happened, like I say possibly something has broken ? Or if you've had the dashboard out and striped down the heater box assembly, one of the direction flaps might not be seated/located correctly, or the same with the cable ? Hence it not fully shutting off hot air. Best bet is operate the heater dial's carefully, before you start removing the dashboard, and look underneath on the passenger side as I'm sure there's a flap there. The heater temperature dial should be smooth to turn in both directions, if you feel any tightness or resistance then this is a clear problem. The same with the position/directional dial, if this feels tight or very catchy/notchy be careful as it could be close to breaking the rear toothed gear on back of heater control unit. If you've got the heater control unit out, check that cables are attached correctly, plus check the toothed gears as they're known to break or become encrusted with dust/dirt especially after 20+ years. If this seams ok then fault has to be with the heater box assembly somewhere. Plus the position/directional dial doesn't tend to like being rotated, when the fan is on speed 4, for some reason it prefers the speed dail to be on speeds 1 or 2, anything higher and it seams to feel tight and locks, I've seen this on a few MK2 Corrado's with the later type heater controls. Hope this helps Si
  14. Hello there, the thunk/clunk sound you say you hear, could be the flap is trying to move, but then springs back to original position blocking off cold air and allowing hot air to continuously flow through ? Could be part of toothed cog on flap has broken away. Could be the heater control dial assembly unit, these are known to have problems. This part is £240 new from VW Heritage. Could be a cable but more then likely it's a problem with the flap it's self or the heater control dial unit. Hope this helps Si
  15. Yeah that's what I meant Rob we have new VW T6 vans at work, I'm always getting the T5 & T6 mixed up  Bournemouth is a nice place plus I'm right near the New Forest, which is pretty good for going off round on my mountain bike, well in the spring/summer anyway. It's also nice being close to the beech. I work right opposite Bournemouth Hurn Airport, which is good when the air show is on as you see most of the rare plane's taking off. Rob regarding your Corrado I'd definitely get the underside checked just incase there's any other area's that might show up in next year's MOT. Si

    Brake issue

PAST PARTS (price from last year) Cost is £109 VAT £21.80 Postage £6.59 with in UK Mainland Net Total £137.39 Link to PAST PARTS Thread Si
  17. Yeah I hear your £3000 blimey it is costly the old body shops, but it's all flipping labour that's the problem. That's the reason why I'm trying to do as much as I can, because garage work shops and body shops are not cheap. Regarding your T4 Rob they are awesome motor's, very versatile whether it's a van or the full blown people carrier version. At work the sales guys have recently had new black T5s, they drive like a car so user friendly pretty much like the T4 really. Every time they pull up I'm expecting the A-Team to jump out, or is that just me  Si

    Brake issue

Hello mate, this could well be your brake master cylinder, but also it could be a rusted brake pipe under car that is leaking, or a leaking brake caliper. A common brake leak though can be from the rear brake regulator valve. Best bet is to jack it up onto axle stands, and check the front brakes then the rears, just to rule out anything underneath the chassis. Does your G60 have ABS if so then the brake master cylinder is obsolete, but you can get it overhauled by a company called PAST PARTS. If you don't have ABS then that master cylinder I believe is still available at the Main Dealers, plus they're on Ebay too. If You're working on your own and need the brake pedal to be pressed slightly, this is what I do, I use a medium sized screw driver and apply pressure on brake pedal, then carefully jam the screw driver between the end of pedal and carpet/floor. This then allows you to check for leaking brake fluid. If it's a very slight leak you may still have a half decent pedal, but if it's leaking quickly then your brake pedal will push down all the way to the floor, plus the more it leaks the more air you'll possibly get trapped in the system. But don't drive your Corrado untill you've fixed the brake leak. Hope this helps Si
  19. Hi Rob, sorry to hear about your rust gremlins, luckily though you know a good guy at Resto shacks who will get her back to former glory. Unfortunately rust is going to be a common issue on our Corrado's as they're all over 20 years old now. Rob regarding your T4 van have it looked over, not a service but just a quick check of tyres, suspension, steering, lights, exhaust, windscreen, seat belts, shouldn't take any longer then 30 mins to 40 mins tops, then if anything flags up you'll have all October to get it sorted, before the actual MOT in November. Hello

Hello there, welcome to the Forum there's a good bunch of people on here. So you've got a VR6 sounds like a nice motor, what's the engine like is it standard, has it got leather interior or cloth ? For OEM parts you've got VW Heritage here in the UK and their larger counterpart VW Classic Parts over in Germany. My advice to you is start purchasing a few rare parts now whilst they're still available, because it's a lot easier if you've got some spares, rather then trying to Hunt them down so to speak. Si
