  1. Hello there, it depends really on how the sensor has burnt out if it has gone that is, if the inside windings have melted and fused together, that can cause an over load short circuit that will draw too many amps, which in turn blows the fuse. the multi plug for the radiator fan / fans, you can some times use a split pin to join / bridge the connectors together, to test the operation of the fan speed, just to see if the fan sensor switch is at fault. You've normally got an earth a live and a secondary earth that switches to live via a control unit, which gives you the various speeds or switches between one fan being on and then two being on at full speed. On the 2.0 16v they have a 3 pin multi plug for the rad fan, and on the VR6 I think they have two sensors for the two speeds, plus there might be another for when the air con is used to cool the air con radiator. Hope this helps. Si

Yeah if in doubt then don't go for the Ebay one, as there could be problems by the sounds of it. Here's the details to that company that I used back in 2009 Gearlink Ltd Units 19 & 20 Whaddon Business Park, Whaddon, Salisbury, Wiltshire, SP5 3HF Tel: 01722 711444 [email protected] Link: http://www.gearlink.co.uk/findus.htm Hope this helps Si
  3. As far as I remember you have the small circlip attached to the stem shaft of the shock absorber, then have the support washer fitted next which should slide down and stop against the circlip. Then fit your bump stock complete with splash sleeve, then fit your spring followed by the top spring cap plate, then fit the 2" long spacer tube followed by the nut, this nut you bolt up until it's tight and can do up no more, but don't go too mad or you could strip the threads, the top spring cap plate should compress down as AIDE has said, onto the spring and press against the support washer, so like I say that nut should be done up until it stops. Original top nut is a plain nut, but the new replacement I think is a nylon lock nut. Then once the rear shock is fitted to the car fit the top rubber bush and washer, and do the second top nut up to 15Nm (11 ft-Ib) The bottom shock absorber bolt & nut in the rear axle beam you torque up to around 70Nm (52 ft-Ib) Hope this helps. Si
  4. Oh right I see :salute: I've emailed Peter at VW Classic Parts before and he does reply, but normally with in 2 to 3 days. But then in saying that I emailed him just before Christmas regarding a few parts I was looking in to, and he came back to me around the 9th of January which was a 2-1/2 to 3 week wait. So hopefully he'll come back to you guys ASAP. I'm surprised really he hasn't replied sooner to you considering that you guys are wanting to place the order, and have the payment ready to send. Hope you guys get it sorted. Si
  5. Hello mate, I might take this off your hands for £65.00 cash collected, but depends where you are. Please could you let me know where you are in the UK. Thanks. Si
  6. That's the OEM wheel that's been in mine from new I think, I've seen loads of other Corrado's with that wheel fitted including the VR6. The leather wheel you guys have been looking at must be the later VR6 wheel then ? Si
  7. Just as a back up I've found the later Corrado steering wheel, on Classic parts it says it's the GT Steering Wheel, and you can purchase the centre new as well. I think this is fitted to some of the VR6 and most of the later 16v's and 8v Corrado's, plus it's in the VW Polo G40 This wheel has the chrome / silver strip under the wheel centre. GT Steering Wheel part n.o: 867419091J 01C £229.20 euros = to £189.92 pounds http://www.vw-classicparts.de/shop/ GT Wheel Centre part n.o: 867419669E 01C £36.75 euros = to £30.45 pounds http://www.vw-classicparts.de/shop/ Both showing as being in stock. If the links don't work above then go to the VW Classic Part website, and click on the online shop icon, then on the left side scroll down to where it says Polo/Derby and click on it, then when it opens click on MK2 Polo, now click on the Door icon, once it opens up click then on the Seat icon. First page has the wheel centre and the second page has the later GT Steering Wheel Hope this helps. Si

    VR6 Gearbox

Hello Storm, mine had a full complete rebuild of the gearbox, replaced all bearings, seals, all synchro's replaced, including any warn / damaged gears. I've never had a problem with mine since the overhaul. I even forgot to remove the reverse switch and the VSS, when I dropped the gearbox off to them. When I collected it both these sensors / switches were intact and still work to this day, plus the box had been sprayed silver so looked brand new. According to their invoice (Gearlink Ltd) Their warranty on a full rebuild of a gearbox is 12 months or 18,000 miles, which ever occurs first. I used the oil that they said to use just to stay on the right side of the warranty, which in my case was for the full 12 months, then after that I changed the oil out for semi synthetic or something like. But like I say mine has been fine since the overhaul. Cost me £621.00 for the full rebuild / overhaul, but like I say this was back in Oct of 2009 so the cost might have gone up since then ? Since the rebuild I've done about 14,000 miles, and had no problems. This is the warranty as stated on my invoice from Gearlink Ltd, word for word: WARRANTY ALL GOODS REMAIN THE PROPERTY OF GEARLINK LTD UNTIL PAID FOR IN FULL. E & OE. CONDITIONS OF SALE:- THIS GEARBOX IS GUARANTEED FOR A PERIOD OF 12 MONTHS / 18,000 MILES, WHICH EVER IS SOONER (APPLICABLE ONLY TO FULLY RECONDITIONED UNITS). THE CORRECT QUANTITY AND GRADE OF OIL MUST BE USED, FAILURE TO DO SO INVALIDATED THE GUARANTEE. WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY VEHICLE RECOVERY CHARGES SHOULD A FAULT OCCUR IN THE GEARBOX, DURING THE GUARANTEED PERIOD. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO INSPECT / TEST THE GEARBOX "IN SITU" IF A FAULT OCCURS. THE GUARANTEE WILL BE INVALIDATED IF DAMAGE IS CAUSED BY ALLIED PARTS, E.G FAULTY PROPSHAFT, SPIGOT BEARING ECT. FAILURE TO PROVIDE MILEAGE & REGISTRATION NUMBER, WITHIN 7 DAYS INVALIDATES THIS GUARANTEE. VALID IN THE UK ONLY. Hope this helps. Si

That's not a bad price that Jim for a gearbox rebuild off Ebay. I had mine over hauled in late 2009 as 1st and 2nd synchro's were warn mainly the second one, so thought I'd have the whole gearbox over hauled, it cost me just over £600.00 Had it done at Gearlink Ltd over in Salisbury. Si

  13. I know what you mean by the foghorn sound, I get that on mine now and again, mine was really load just before Christmas, so decided to jack the car up and have a look. My issue is both the rear brake calipers were binding, so unbolted both of them and managed to free off the tight pistons, my O/S/R one is still ok for now, but my N/S/R caliper is starting to make the same noise now but not as bad. So I'm in the same boat. I have got a new seal kit for the rear brakes, but my N/S/R piston is quite bad so may have to purchase a new caliper. Hope this helps. Si

  19. Hello there, sorry to hear of your problem with your Corrado, great news that you've found the fault and are close to fixing it. As Mark has said above I'm sure your detailed post will help other people out, with the same / similar issue :salute: It's mad really just how many problems the ignition switch can cause on the Corrado. Si :thumbleft:
  20. Hello mate, cool fair play you've got one. The bottom hose with part number 191-121-051E this is normally used on most 4 cylinder 8v / 16v engines from the 1980s and 1990s mainly MK2 / MK3 Golf and the Corrado. Where as the top hose can be slightly different, between the 4 cylinder 8v / 16v engines. Part number 191-121-101P is for 2.0 8v (2E eng code - might fit ADY eng code as well) This is a longer hose than the 16v one as the 8v engines sit back further, so are closer to the bulk head but a little further away from the radiator. Part number 191-121-101AC is for 1.8 16v / 2.0 16v (KR / 9A eng codes) This hose is shorter than the 8v one above due to the way the alloy inlet manifold, folds up and over the front side of the cylinder head, so for this reason VW fitted a plastic triangle coolant housing, that pokes through between the inlet manifold branches, so making it a lot closer to the radiator. Just found this link for future reference for anyone that needs it. http://autopartmaster.com/en/?action=catalog_show&cat=vw&t_id=111258&added_=VOLKSWAGEN%20Scirocco/Corrado%201991 Hope this helps. Si

Shows 4 are in stock. link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Radiator-Hose-Bottom-Vw-Golf-Jetta-Corrado-Passat-Gates-3113/310827139167?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222006%26algo%3DSIC.FITP%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20181%26meid%3D4539551127462147622%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D9057%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D400610531881 Or as the other guys have said AVS sell this hose as well, their price is £9.90 takes 1 to 2 days for them to order it in, their part number is 3113 States it fits none air con and manual trans Corrado. AVS link http://www.vwspares.co.uk/corrado_cooling.php Hope this helps. Si
  22. I'll do one more batch of these smaller linkage arms, so this will go into mid part of April 2014. I will try and keep a few back just in case there is anyone who needs 1 or 2 in the future. Mr Stuarttaylor37 has asked me about the item below. I might be doing a group buy of the larger linkage arm, part n.o: 535-955-326A these are £28.30 each. Just really testing the water to see if there's much interest in this part. But this won't be until late April or early May of 2014 possibly, plus I won't be able to purchase as many each time as the smaller linkage, due to them being more exspensive. Might be 5 or 6 in each batch. Many thanks. Si
  23. BACK ORDER LIST For anyone that needs / wants another one. Mic_VR (1) from second batch Many thanks. Si
  24. Just one I believe Mr Sean_Jaymo, this wiper linkage arm in question fits to all RHD Corrado's only, fits between motor and right wiper spindle. Cheers. Si
