  1. A lovely pair.... Any photos of the A3 door handles. First pic seems, to my untrained eye, to show colour coded originals (or even Passat).
  2. I can't confirm for definite having never owned a Mk3 Golf, but logic would suggest no. There's a few cars being broken on here time to time and would suggest you go for one of those.
  3. Early cars will use the vacuum pipe as they do in Mk2 Golfs. Later Corrado's will take their MPG reading from the ECU.
  4. Immaculate K reg white G60 with debadged grill on the A2 approaching A20 turn off. I was in a F**d Fo**s and was going to wave but thought it might make me look bonkers!!
  5. Just seen over on ClubGTI that a company called LWS Designs has picked up where Performance Trim left off. Their website is currently not up but should be in two weeks and from CGTI site they are offering 10% off Mk2 CF roof panels (so could try getting that extended to include a Rado roof). For info, I am in no way affiliated with any of these companies just sharing what I have found elsewhere.
  6. Well, when you put it like that... I think I had ideas in my head to solve it and only when writing it down did the options become clear. Now on eBay to find a cheap period amp (Alpine V12). Thanks for the help.
  7. Not sure why he is listing all the safety features and interior options... it's a burnt out car FFS and doesn't look like any of those options still exist (apart from maybe the auxiliary heating, which lets be honest can be confirmed to work a little too effectively).
  8. Four offers!! Surely that's only worth something if you have the corresponding car (i.e number 1288 ), otherwise just buy a sticker.
  9. Have a look underneath as it may have the oil pressure rating stamped on the bottom. It should be 1.8 bar. First items are tie rod ends I think.
  10. Previously had an amp feeding my components but since the amp has been nicked I haven't had music in the car. What is the best value for money solution to sort this? Could get another cheap amp, but my head unit is 4 x 50 so thinking of powering the components directly off the head unit. For info, components are Focal 6.5's in Audioscape door pods and head unit is a Pioneer (can't remember the model number, but option of one with the touchscreen DVD). Also I do not have the original speaker wiring block and don't want to chop into the head unit wiring.
  11. I'm still on my original so it would make sense to get one. So yes please!
  12. Sorry to hear mate. I'm in West Kent and will be driving down to Neath first weekend in Nov but don't have need to go to the Medway towns any time soon.
  13. N500 VRG spotted going London bound up the A21 Sevenoaks bypass. You gave me a toot, I gave one back. It could have been the start of something special, but alas you went clockwise on the M25 and it wasn't to be!!
  14. You should see about 14v on the battery when the car is running. I am now narrowing my wager to the alternator with the exciter wire as an outside bet. All the other parts you mention are incidental in this case as the car does start when it has enough juice. The problem is the battery does not have enough!
  15. That tallies. At the bottom of the page under similar threads there is a post from Pat McCrotch where he viewed this car last year.
  16. Sounds like a man with wiring issues!!! The exciter wire is a thin blue wire that controls the charging circuit. However, you need to rule out the battery and alternator first. Firstly, what voltage is the battery holding when the engine is off and what is it when the car is running. This should sart to narrow things down and I would wager its either a knackered battery or worn out alternator part. If the rest of the car is good then this could be a good bargaining tool for you.
  17. Lovely set of wheels mate. Good luck with the sale!! Just out of interest, did you keep the original two rear outers and if so do you still have them for sale? I ask as the 8.5 rear may put some people off as it wil most likely require arch work to make them fit without rubbing, but 7's all round mean they would go on no hassle (and still look the business IMO). Dave
  18. F If it wasn't any of those three then it would most likely start!!! How has he assured himself it's none of these three main components? If you have a multimeter (and still want the car, after all if he is BSing you on this which is quite blatant, what else may he BS you on) then there are some simple checks you can perform. Quick question: when he jump started it, where did he attach the -ve jump cable. If he attached that to the battery then you can rule out any wiring issue to the starter. Only other wiring issue may be the blue 'exciter wire' but I would rule the other parts out first.
  19. Timbo, Look different to me. I may have what you are looking for as I did have part of this interior as spares (what I refer to as champagne flute interior as the purple/ blue flecks accent champagne glasses) and laid it up in a mates parent's barn about 6 years ago. I'm checking it is still there and what the condition is like and will come back shortly, but as both of us are at least 50 miles from the barn I can't promise a quick turn-around in confirming or photo's. Dave
  20. That'll be me!!! (thanks Bryan) My conversion is a mixture of S2 and custom parts. Inlet & exhaust manifolds are S2 with 5th runner chopped off. Fuel rail is 1.8T and managed to get hold of a Golf G60 intercooler. Have you thought what management system you will run? That, apart from the exhaust down pipe and boost run, is the only expensive part. I do however agree with Jim and Stealth's assessment that 1.8T is much less complicated, but I wanted to do a conversion that was of the time of the car. Also, when I last went to shows I frankly got bored of the lines of Mk2 Golfs all running identical 1.8T conversions. Part of my love of cars is the tinkering otherwise I would just buy a Focus!!
  21. scorrado123, You will need a VR rear beam, if that's what is actually needed. As I said on your other thread it is doubtful that your beam is so rusty it needs replacing unless it lived in the sea and then you would notice other bits falling off!! If I were I would go back to your mechanic to understand his diagnosis and seek another opinion if required. Dave
