I'll take them. PM'd

Do you still have these clocks for sale? Interested as mine have given up the ghost.
-
Yes please - let me know roughly when you'll be taking it off and I will send payment (unless you need a deposit for it now). I'm also after some other parts, but happy for it all to be boxed up together. Need the driver's side door pin (the metal bit that the plastic bit screws into), the plastic clip that the aforementioned rod clips into, and possibly even the central locking actuator with rod (having some annoying problems with my drivers door central locking mechanism). May also be interested in the clocks and the fusebox as also having some wiring issues. Thanks, Dave

Porki - what's going on with your white one? Haven't seen it move!

Looking really good Bryan. Will have to keep an eye out for this to see it in the flesh. David

Nnnnnooooooooo!!! Thought you were keeping it old school. Fair enough though, got to that stage a couple of times with mine. You still getting Nando to give you a hand?

Thanks Scruffy - unfortunately all the issues I have are of my own making (apart from the bent rear beam!!). Good luck with yours and well done for saving another C from the scrapyard. -

Now she is back on the road, thought I would post up some current pictures. Unfortunately, although she runs there is a list of issues that need to be resolved. Electrics Spoiler doesn't go up or down automatically Sunroof has stopped working completely. Indicators on clocks don't work (but do work externally). High beam indicators doesn't work. ABS light doesn't work. Washer jets don't work. And, recently all the clock gauges have stopped working (water temp, fuel level, speedo and tacho) and can't scroll through the MFA functions, as well as the interior light and glovebox light. Chassis Rear beam is bent and needs to be replaced. Front nearside wheel bearing is on its way out. Interior Drivers door doesn't unlock on the button (imagine it is the vacuum pipe as all the other doors and fuel filler flap work). Require cross-overs for my Focal Polyglass 165v2 as they were stolen when off-road. Re-fit head-unit. Passenger seat needs the little white plastic clips, as rocks a little. Floor mats to replace the stolen ones. -

Moved to Tunbridge Wells so bit of a drive to Ace, but will let you know the next time I go and will definately meet up with Nando, so feel free to come and have a look over my car. -
Yep - that's the one. Its running well, but the rear beam is bent so the handling is skittish to say the least. The engine does pull well though, so thumbs up to this conversion from me and the work Nando and Tim did in finishing it off for me.

Apologies if this is a repost - just read this on the ClubGTI forum (thanks Alexf) and thought it was of interest. All the requirements make sense, but can imagine that some people will experience significant challenges in passing the MOT in future. Although as usual it comes down to the tester!! http://uk.autoblog.com/2012/01/04/ch...are-you-ready/ In summary: Warning lights As well as electronic parking brake and electronic stability control warning lights (where fitted) the MOT test will also include checks for the correct function of the following, where fitted; The new test includes a check on the presence and correct function of the steering lock where fitted as standard. Power steering fluid level must be above the minimum level indicated on the reservoir. Lighting Products on the lens or light source that obviously reduce the light's intensity or change its colour will become a reason for failure – applies to front/rear position lamps, registration plate lamps, stop lamps, rear fog and direction indicators, Headlight requirements are updated to take account of the particular characteristics of High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps. HID headlights - a car will fail if a mandatory headlamp cleaning or levelling system is missing, doesn't work or is obviously defective. Vehicles fitted with aftermarket HID systems must also be fitted with properly working washer and levelling systems. Electrical wiring and battery Visible wiring that is insecure, inadequately supported or likely to cause a short will also result in a failure as will wires bared by damaged insulation. Seats It must be possible to secure the driver's seat fore and aft adjustment mechanism in two or three different positions. On electric seats the motors must move the seat fore and aft. Doors A rear door that cannot be opened from the outside using the relevant control is a new reason for failure. Doors must be easy to open and close – hinges, catches and pillars will be inspected. Exhaust A catalytic convertor fitted as original equipment but missing will be a reason for failure.

Just had Andy from Trimwizard fit a keyless entry system to my car and am pleased with the result - no more having to clamber through the boot (ah the joys of delocked doors and 'missing' Clifforf alarm). Joe, if you feel he didn't carry out the job to your expectation, have you been in contact with him to discuss your concerns?

Looking forward to this one Lion. I also have a 2.0 16v turbo. Nando also did some work on mine and has been mapped on megasquirt by Tim. I've got a build thread (turbo conversion started in 2006 and only just back on the road recently) but need to update photos.

Another glowing endorsement for daves16v. Well fabricated items (handbrake tunnel cover bracket), packaged well and arrived in very good time. The easy to follow instructions are an added bonus. -
Hi - looking for a rear beam for a 1994 2.0 16v. Closeness to Kent preferable, but prepared to travel some distance. Dave

The annoying loose handbrake tunnel cover - a solution!

Hi Dave - interested in one with drill bit and tap. Thanks, Dave -
Spotted a blue L-reg 16v in Tunbridge Wells today - parked up on the one-way system on High Brooms Road.

Saw an M-reg in Midnight Blue in Tunbridge Wells yesterday morning. Looked smart.

destructiv dave's silver valver (update 11/07/11)

Ok thread update. So back in 2006, the car was towed down to West Sussex. Plan was to have a company down there finish off the conversion but that didn't come to anything. So instead she sat off road next to a mates garage in Littlehampton. Didn't see it again for 2 years as priorities had changed. Finally got some impetus to finish it, so arranged for delivery to a friends barn in Essex. This transaction was arranged on-line through a ClubGTI member (thanks Lizard Logistics) and delivery was taken by my mate Tim. I still hadn't seen the old girl pretty much since 2006. Eventually went down to the barn to catch up. I was warned that she was in worse shape than when I left her back in 2006. Turned out that she hadn't been securely locked in LA so was easy access. Lost the Audioscape enclosure and sub and amp and the b**tards cut out the Clifford by chopping every wire that connected into the fusebox. So went from requiring boost pipes and other odds and sods back in 2006, to needing re-wiring and a new alarm. They also took the lupo wipers (but it seems they put some standard ones in the car) and someone scratched f**k off in the bonnet. So last summer, spent two days in the footwell soldering in connectors off a spare loom I happened to have and made good progress, however things stalled again (seem to have completer/finisher issues). Finally, early this year took the decision to involve an old friend, Nando, to take on and finish her off. He took delivery about two-three months back and has cracked on with it. He has gone over the entire car finishing her off to a high standard and made sure everything works (particularly with the wiring) and has generally invested a lot of time in it. The result - she has just passed her MOT. So now need insurance and road tax and will be back onthe road. Will update when I get some new shots, but looking forward to driving her again - been driving the missus's 1.1 206 for the past few years!! -
Have heard the stuff to go for is the BMW loom tape or even VAG loom tape. I used the amalgamating tape from Frost and it's crap. There was a bloke selling the decent tape on Edition 38 forum, but it's not cheap.

Dinkus, Have a look at this site. Even has a forum.
