Well, having done this 3 years ago, and it chucking down tback then, we had 10 Rados or so turn up. Had to be repeated, of course, with better weather, which we had today :) Despite this, 2 cars turned up. Stunning ones, too :) Pics: Tempest

Hi folks, Following a successful first visit of the CCGB back in October 2007 to the Coventry Museum of Transport, where we were allowed to park our cars on the Millennium Square right in front of the museum main entrance (under the now famous Whittle Arch even), I thought it might be worthwhile doing this again. So I have arranged for us to park up to 15 cars (combined the SciroccoRegister and the CCGB this time) on said Millennium Square in front of the museum for Sunday, 10th of July 2011, from 11 am onwards. Here is some info on the museum: http://www.transport-museum.com/ Bit on the Whittle Arch: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Whittle_arches_coventry_12u07.JPG Suggest we meet up on the forecourt of the BP petrol station on the A45 in southern Coventry from 10:15 onwards : Then depart convoy-style to the Museum/Millennium Square from 10:45 onwards (there is no chance to keep the convoy together all along the way, so do bring along these maps and post-codes): Post-code BP station: CV3 6RQ Post-code Museum: CV1 1NP, Chauntry Place Entry to the museum is free :) , and the main shops in Coventry town centre are all open and within 5 minute walking distance, as well as the 3 cathedrals (one a ruin, of course), worthwhile a visit. Can leave your car on Millennium Square till 16:30. Please do bring a drip-tray, if your car may leak oil, because it could get very expensive if the City Council have to remove any stains once we´re gone ;) Join in for a nice day out with your car ready for admiration in a very busy public square :) Tempest

Noticed that today on my way from BFV in my Mk2. Got a huge wave and lights greet from a fellow Mk2 driver, not from any of the Iroc-drivers anywhere along the route. Live in a world of their own. Tempest

Yup, stand has been advertised and ready for claiming spots for Cs over on the CCGB website/forum. Stands are paid for by the CCGB (not free), hence for CCGB members only. Stand is CCGB only, not combined with the SciroccoRegister, as I can't get the latter motivated to come and join us at this great show. But, I personally as a big Mk1 fan would, of course love to see your Mk1, so bring it on. Depending on where the organisers have placed our stand, there should be plenty of space around it to park up. At last count, i don't think our stand was full either. Tempest

Another visit to the Midlands Air Museum ! Trying to get parking amongst the jets organised, which should result in some cracking photo opportunities of our Rados. Event combined with the SciroccoRegister for more cars. Entry to the museum is a reasonable £5.50, but hoping to get a small(ish) discount if the numbers are high enough. Meet up straight at the museum at 12:00 noon, maps are on the museum website. After the visit there is plenty of opportunity to visit Coventry town centre itself for shopping/sightseeing (Coventry Cathedral). Still, although I can agree with the thread starter in the sense of government's duties to inform everyone (including those without tellies), I personally have always decided from day one of ownership of my current fleet, to keep them insured throughout the year. Reason is simple: What happens if your baby gets stolen? Now imagine you're not insured ... How are you going to find the thieves (police usually won't be any help). Even if you manage to get your car back, it'll have loads of damage usually, and who's going to pay for sorting that out? The thieving scumbags? Nope, that'll be you. That's why for fear of this happening I like to keep my pride and joys insured, also during the winter months when mine are all on SORN. Tempest

Fraid to say that in today's instant society you as a private individual also have to react in an instant time and manner. Just like you would yourself when you buy something from soneone else. Not everyone may be like that, but more and more people are. Think about it that way. Yes, it would have also been good customer service to keep the buyer informed, no matter what. Once you have accepted a deal, you have to follow it up,. That also applies to private sales. I know I didn't make myself necessarily very popular with all of this, but dealing with customers on a daily basis, you get accustomed to today's MTV / 5 second attention span society. If I have to offer this, then I can also expect this in returrn :) Just my view. Tempest

Thanks everyone for turning up to this, despite the dodgy weather forecast. Coming up from 2cc's place in the early morning, we got hit by a torrential rainfall somewhere along the M4 before Swindon, so set about cleaning our Rados upon arrival in an initially sunny Stonor. The rain soon(ish) appeared but fortunately not more than drizzle. The way back oop norf to Coventry was throwing more serious rain at my Rado around Oxford, till finally in Coventry the sun almost tried to get through the clouds ! Washed Rado, sitting nice and clean in its home again. You would have been pleasantly surprised, actually! There were a few good watercooled stands selling useful things! Didn't have time to even wander around the concourse section. Tempest

Thanks everyone for making this a fantastic day, and supporting the club by turning up on the stand. Shame about the wind and dust, but I guess, with Stanford there´s always either the choice of sandy dusty paths and plenty of sunshine, or like last year, freezing, with almost rain, which would not be good at all! Great to see that many nice Rados and indeed Roccos lined up both in the Concourse and the 2 adjacent stands. Some interesting cars there, no less than 2 Mk1 Rocco Storms, my Mk2 Storm, Jeremy´s Mk2 Storm, and of course the Rados, some nice stuff there, too :) Well done to the usual suspects for winning in the class 14 Concours, almost predicatble (actually no, it´s simply a given :lol:), despite the interesting new competitors entering the class. Can´t beat Gaskell´s judging skills, the excellent judging equipment that was used (mat, mirror), so even only coming 3rd, like the chap with the GT2 Rocco did, is an honour :) Piccies: Tempest
