  1. Yup, it's in the German press, too. Last night a final attempt to finance the company failed, as, typical, a bank pulled out. Tempest
  2. Strange that one, as that's a modded version of the other Corrado, that Revell are going to be doing, but in standard form. See attached piccie from latest Revell brochure. Tempest
  3. Careful, matey  There are die-hard Rocco-fanatics on here, and last but not least, the C was intended as the Mk3 Rocco, so you're driving one, too :-) But I agree, I personally don't have high hopes for anything exciting from VW anymore, now that the management is totaly changed, and I believe VW's cars are no longer to clash with Audi, Porsche et al, who all belong to the same group, but under severe control now of both Porsche (shares, Wiedeking), and Audi (Winterkorn heading VW). Tempest
  4. Careful! That is as a matter of fact one of the 2 new models to be launched by Revell any time soon. The ebay trader is making incorrect impressions that he's got stock, which no-one has as yet, not even this ebay-guy. He's simply collecting orders, taking the money, and will only be able to deliver once he too has stock. Tempest
  5. The first 2 models have made it back to the owners of the relevant cars, that the models are based on!! See link below for piccies. http://www.duodent-zahntechnik.de/corrado/corradobilder.zip A few final touches are still on the cards, but that's pretty much it. Apparently the first load of 200 models is on its way back from China soon. Different colours are also on the cards for the near future. Other than that Revell are looking at launching an original Mk1 Rocco 1/18 modell in September, too :-) Finally something's happening again on the model car front :-) Tempest
  6. Possibly. The CCGB finds it difficult at times to get enough material to provide a fully-packed Sprinter mag, as to a large extent, the contents are dependent on members' contributions. Clearly as it is a printed magazine, the style and level of contributions has to be well above that found on forums, where members can get away with pub- and other random talk ;-) The next one, when it comes out, and apologies for this already, has turned out to be a bit of a monopoly between 2 or 3 people, who decided to just put hands on keyboards back in November to crank the amount of articles up. Not that the articles won't be interesting, far from it (well I think so at least :-) ) they're just from a very small amount of people , thus reducing the variety in reading/writing style somewhat, if you're into and care about that sort of thing :-) Tempest
  7. Just noticed this on the German Sciroccoforum: A group of amateur film makers in Germany have released a spoof on the classic film "Back to the Future". Instead of the DeLorean they used a nice Mk2 Rocco 8) Might get myself a copy, almost mandatory viewing. More: http://vidv.de/ Tempest
  8. Try disconnecting the O2 sensor, sounds like a faulty sensor to me. Low voltages like that indicate to the ECU that you're running too lean, so the ECU tries to enrich the mixture till it gets a suitable feedback signal from the O2-sensor, which of course, will never happen if the sensor is faulty, hence the ECU keeps on enriching. Disconnecting the sensor will run the ECU in a sort of diagnostic mode, perfectly drivable, though, if not a wee bit rich, but nothing very noticable. Tempest
  9. There was me thinking that the CCGB wasn't just about Sprinters. Oh well ... Thank you. :-) Tempest
  10. Yup, did the same on my Mk2 Storm Rocco's rear bearings where despite using drums, the inside, i.e. the bearing assembly in particular is identical to that found on rear disks on Corrados. Tempest
  11. All sounds a bit like Porsche's (main shareholder and hence main decision taker) head-honcho, Wiedeking, through his tronies at VW (stategically placed ex-Audi boss Martin Winterkorn at the head of VW, moved Pischetsrieder out, and hence forced Bernhard - ex VW brand boss - out, back to Chrysler) and Piech (although out, still in an advisory capacity to VW, and of course descendent from the Porsche Piech family), is making sure, VW stay where they should be with respect to Porsche and Audi: Producing boring everyday bangers for the family man on a potentially tight budget (the last bit, I'm not too sure about, but certainly VW appeal to different people than the competition in D, i.e. Audi, BMW, Merc), so as to not clash with Audi and mainly Porsche (the Iroc might have got a bit too successful, just a theory of mine). Oh well ... I knew it spelt trouble for the Iroc when Bernhard was more or less mobbed out by losing his main protege, Pischetsrieder. Tempest
  12. The Draper tool in the ebay auction should be OK for most of us, picked mine up in my local business-only automotive factors for 4 quid :-) Tempest
  13. I'll try it out tomorrow, it's probably how I originally did it on my Mk2 Storm Rocco, but since that's been 4 years ago, I probably forgot. Plus, I had intended to only attach the coilies at the top, because I'm looking at dropping the axle anyway to replace the axle bushes, as they're shot, after closer inspection tonight. Was trying to save some work. With my Storm Rocco the plan was just to fit the coiles, nothing else, so I must have taken the correct approach back then, but not realising how essential it is to actually have the weight of the car do the work. Will post up either way :-) Tempest
  14. Haven't tried that, instead jacked up the beam in an attempt to get the piston thread to show, but no success so far. Could try your idea, though, see whether the weight of the car exerts more force than what I've tried to apply by jacking up the beam. Tempest
  15. OK, decided to after a usual day at work to need a bit of success tonight, so decided to fit the rear coilies of my Koni kit. Got stuck trying to get the first of 2 nuts onto the strut at the top (from inside the boot), as I'm using new rubber bushes, and can't get the top bush sufficiently compressed to reveal enough thread to get the first nut onto, just haven't got enough power, even when standing inside the boot. I know, this is a real stupid problem, as I'm sure everyone will admit. didn't have that problem when I fitted the FK Königsports on my Storm nearly 4 years ago, so what am i doing wrong? Is there a compression tool for the top mount? Tempest
  16. Was a good weekend indeed. Right, who's up for doing my coilies then next weekend? Don't really need anyone for that, but as we all once again discovered, it's just sooooo much simpler to not constantly have to run around looking for tools, when you can just shout from underneath the car what tools you need, and there's someone to hand them to you  Seriously considering doing my rear axle beam bushes now that I've got the old suspension out anyway. Tempest
  17. I do order parts from GSF, but get some advice from SteveMac first, as to what parts to take and which ones to avoid :-) The rear mounts on my G60 C are all genuine VAG, though, the front one a Stealth sourced Vibratechnics. So far so good :-) Tempest
  18. It's not so much the money rather than the points ;-) Currently the PACE route is still advised to take. The bigger issue will be the outcome of the EU court-case of human rights, whereby 2 GB peeps are fighting their case that the way the UK government intend to prosecute speeding offenders (i.e. that you actually need to incriminate yourself!!!!! by identifying the driver) is a violation of the basic human right to remain silent when accused, article 6 of the EU law. There cannot be exceptions, i.e. article 172 of UK law (devised as an exception to the right to remain silent) is in effect a violation of article 6 EU law. All because the UK use Gatsos, where the driver cannot be identified by photographic evidence ... Even if the photographic evidence clearly identifies the driver (laser guns et al), the need to identify the driver on the NIP still holds, hence the Pace route. Tempest
  19. Correct, mate of mine in Germany had his dark-burgundy G60 resprayed into a light blue Alfa Romeo colour. Unless you opened his engine bay, you couldn't see the original colour anymore. Tempest
  20. As Jim said, on US Corrados, the indicators sit in the usual place of the front bumper (and those are the only indies you'll get at the front on a US Corrado, no side repeaters) with side markers (constantly on when headlights are on) attached to the side of the front bumper in front of the wheels. Tempest
  21. Leave the plug conected as far as possible, otherwise the Lambdaprobe won't work, as the ECU will no longer get a pulsating signal, and no longer work as a 2-point controller. The ECU in effect constantly oscillates between rich and lean mixture settings in response to the 2 oscillating values being read from the probe. Tempest
  22. Although as a computer company we normally get shedloads of boxes, the one that's just arrived looked heavier than usual, when the chap karted it in ;-) Opened it up, ahhhh, my brand new set of Koni coilies has arrived. Just thought you might like to know  Tempest
  23. Oh no, time for more rumours, dubious photochops and whatnot  Tempest
  24. Mine are all tucked up in garages, far far away from the daily hacks that litter up the road I live in :-) Only possible exception is the neighbour's Scooby Legacy with personal plate and nice-looking alloys. Tempest
  25. double-6s: Just don't like seeing useless info on an otherwise classy forum like this, and that's what you've given here in this thread, apart from all the following nonsense regarding my car. You cannot try before you buy suspension, period, full-stop. Then again, my offer's still open to you to prove me otherwise. It would be wiser for you to instead of making stupid sarcy comments to actually get cracking and rise to my challenge, or are you failing for precisely the reasons I was trying to get across in this thread? In other words: Suspension is alas something you may only ever be able to rely on other people's very subjective comments other than spending a fortune on trying out and then ditching various supension set-ups that you find you don't like. Ask Chris aka 2cc, as he's had to do precisely that, before he got ot the way he wanted. Over and out. Tempest
