Mave 0 Posted April 14, 2007 Noooooooooooooo don't do it. I'm sure there's a part somewhere. Don't scrap it, you know you'll regret it :)

chrishill 0 Posted April 15, 2007 ive spent months trying just about every were i can think of for a bloody airflow/metering unit and carnt find one anywere the MAF? surely VW still sell them and if not can't you get replacements from BOSCH directly? I know its not cheap but if it keeps you on the road...
Jim 2 Posted April 15, 2007 Its the metering head unit.. different setup on the valvers than it is on the VR's chris! They're definately around - admittedly less people are breaking 2.0's than they are 1.8's but i'm surprised they're so tough to find!
Phil K 0 Posted April 15, 2007 Should be easy to find - I had to find at least 3 or 4 while I had my C! Try looking for 2.0 16V Passats in scrapyards and stick wanted threads on every forum you can think of and one will turn up! The 9A's metering unit is the weakest link with that engine so if you can find a couple it's worth keeping one spare...

Good luck with the search, if it fails, you can always fit megasquirt!
lottysvdub 0 Posted April 15, 2007 thanks for the comments guys , ive parked her up for now and covered her over with a decent car cover , i dont really want to scrap her as ive had so much fun with the old git , i will keep looking and hopefully some thing will turn up , i never in a month of sundays thought it would be so hard to find the unit i need . :)
Phil K 0 Posted April 15, 2007 You can buy them new too but they're not cheep... why not try giving stealth or The Phirm a call to see if they can source one? In many ways you'd be better off going for a stand alone injection system (like megasquirt) and get rid of the standard set up all together as (IMO) it's cr4p and a royal PITA when it goes wrong... Best of luck whatever you do :)
lottysvdub 0 Posted April 15, 2007 dont want to sound thick but whats this "megasquirt" system that a couple of you guy have mentioned ? ive never heard of it
Rob Heath 0 Posted April 15, 2007 My mate is buyin a 2.0 16v passat engine and puttin it in his mk2 Will the meterin head etc be the same as the corrado??? I would have thought so??? I'll have a word with my mate and im sure he'll let you have it for a reasonable price, dont want to see a rado scrapped over somethin as small as this
lottysvdub 0 Posted April 15, 2007 Rob Heath if you could mate that would be great , if its a Type G KE Motronic system then it will fit , part no on the unit should be 04 38 101 039 and theres 2 sensors on the sides of the unit , thanks buddy heres to hoping :)
rado-steve 0 Posted April 15, 2007 Megasquirt is a DIY Fully Electronic Engine management! A sort of shareware for engines! Should be pretty easy to do as the 9A already has the crank position sensor, just need a throttle Position Sensor and your 1/2 way there!!! Here you go: http://www.megasquirt.info/
