Stella 0 Posted July 16, 2017 Hey all My favourite Corrado man Micky- (so greatful)came and had a look. The ignition business was ok. He suggested it might be the starter motor so got the RAC out and he tested stuff and confirmed it is the starter motor. I'm picking one up tomorrow so hopefully this will be it for this month!! Massive thank you to Micky, he is on here somewhere! Still love my car🤓But still can't get my photos to upload on here😦
Stella 0 Posted July 16, 2017 Thinking about it Sean, this may be irrelevant as I know very little but I did change the sparks plugs recently and a rocker cover. One of the old spark plugs was covered with oil. Not sure how the new ones look but maybe I need to check this also??
seanl82 23 Posted July 16, 2017 Is it turning over Stella? Starter motor you mention suggests its not, so that would rule out the spark plugs. If it was turning over and not firing it could be coil pack not providing spark, but if it was just a single plug then it would probably start but be down on one cylinder so be very lumpy. Did you try hitting the starter motor whilst the key was turned trying to start it? I kid you not, it sometimes works if its a sticky solenoid!
Stella 0 Posted July 16, 2017 The car won't start at all. The RAC man hit it but with no joy.

Stella 0 Posted November 21, 2017 Who understands driveshafts? I was supposed to change the boot kit ? (Big rubber thing) but I didn't!! The car is now making a knocking sound but it's on the other side. Do you think this is another issue, mate said cv joint? i did buy break pads and discs for the front but too so maybe it's that? I'm having all the parts fitted this weekend so take it from there I guess Any ideas always appreciated 😊

If the knocking noise is coming from the wheel area you will know by rocking the wheel , it could be a worn ball joint ?. KIPVW 0 Posted November 22, 2017 Go to a large car park and try it on full lock both ways, if it clunks when driving it's a CV Joint.

KIPVW 0 Posted November 22, 2017 lol bugger, get decent ones though as the cheap efforts don't seem to last too well

Graphite 0 Posted November 29, 2017 So I've had all the parts fitted and the guy said the balance plate on the drive shaft has snapped, do I need a new driveshaft ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I can only imagine he is referring to the damper (a metal/rubber composite donut shaped object) that often wear loose and rub/run/spin on the driveshaft, causing noises and vibrations. No need to replace the shaft, just cut the damper off.

Stella 0 Posted February 19, 2018 Still love my car even if it starting to look a bit tatty! I've got a couple of issues so was looking for some advice😊 Car seems to loose power when pulling away. My friend suggested changing the distributor cap, leads and rotor arm. I've had a look for parts and eBay seems cheap enough but do I want cheap? Where else can I look? Also have an issue with the idle control valve, seems to stick at 2000 rpm a lot of the time. Where can I get a new one from or would a second hand one do? Many thanks Corrado people xx
1xshaunx1 27 Posted February 19, 2018 My mate recently had to spend £250 sorting the ecu on his mini, I know it’s a different car but the lesson is the same. The reason for this is the cheep £40 coil pack he bought to replace his grubby looking genuine one, just failed after 13 months and shorted out, frying his Ecu. Cheapest isn’t always best, if it seems too cheap it generally is. Some parts aren’t that different but electrically is by the best you can afford with a name like Bosch stamped on it
Stella 0 Posted February 20, 2018 Thanks Shaun, I try to buy the better parts usually! Im more interested in why it's loosing power and if changing all those will make a difference. I'm changing the suspension to a standard one this weekend, hope I like it !!
