  1. Very sad to hear about this - I've only just picked up as I missed the tribute as I was up the other end of the field at Stanford Hall on the Cars for Sale section. I've known Chris since the very first meeting of the Corrado Club, and possibly even before then through the (now defunct) Club Scirocco. Whilst we didn't always see eye to eye, I had a very deep respect for Chris, his knowledge and upgrades, particularly on the Rocco kept me busy in the late 90s. I was actually thinking of him twice at Stanford Hall by chance as a) we had talked last year at Stanford about the possible upgrade for the family man moving on from Sciroccos (Mk1 & 2s) and Corrados, and both decided that the Mk3 wasn't it, I mentioned at the time I was thinking Audi A5 - he thought this would be a good alternative, and this year I was going to tell him that I think we were right as I had gone and bought one and it's just the ticket. We also talked at length about "not getting the old girls out for an airing", his famous Storm hadn't been out of the garage for nigh on a year, and he was actually thinking of selling. (Well, that was his story anyway, I don't for a minute think he would have sold it) Then secondly on the day, just as I was doing my walkaround I noticed one of the Corrados on the stand had Chris' old VRS1X number plate, and I remember him telling me how he had to sell the plate as it was attracting too much attention from the local TWOCers. So, late glass raised in your honour chap, I''ll donate to the fund in your memory, as the Vulcan is something I'm passionate about as well.
  2. I'd possibly be interested in 1 or 2 pairs of the 4" co-ax ones with 4x6 adaptors for the Rocco, provided the fitting depth isn't too great as the door panel ain't gonna change :)
  3. Number plate prices are always a funny one. They are worth whatever somebody is willing to pay for it at the time. When I was selling my C6 OVW one I started high (about £1,200), then each month I dropped it by £100 until somebody eventually snapped it up. Really sad I lost J13 VRG when it went to Ireland, but there's a few A5 XXX plates up on the DVLA websites that are taking my eye. Good to know that there are people looking at Karl's VR. I can vouch for it's general goodness, and would have snapped it up myself but for the timing being wrong.
  4. Reduced again, need to sell soon as the temporary insurance runs out soon. Now only £1,300 ono.
  5. Don't know if anybody else noticed, the "unpainted" letters don't quite seem to line up with the rest of them... cut and shut perhaps?
  6. Excellent :) Not only is the shell burnt out, it looks as though it's taken some hefty knocks from falling debris too ...
  7. I'm going to strip out the stereo at the weekend, so if anybody is interested just for the stereo, get in there quick, otherwise it'll be gone :) (or indeed if anybody is interested in some tasty Denon amps, or Boston Acoustics high-end components.)
  8. Okay, got the day off on Friday, and a free press pass, so hopefully be there :)
  9. It's not too bad really, as I said above, it's been super reliable for me over the years, but going back to the roots a bit with the A5, and it's too big for the Mrs, so it needs to be gone. I'm open to offers if they can get over the mileage thing.
  10. It's certainly reliable, it's done 258k at the moment, and I'm based in Leicestershire. It's available from tomorrow if you want to have a look at it, give me a bell on 07976158410.
  11. I use normal Saddle Soap on mine, every three or four months. Much cheaper than AutoGlym
  12. G60 gets my vote, but not as a daily driver :) Faster, and more torquey than the 16vs, much lighter and chuckable than the VR6s. But, don't like high mileage (having said that, I had my second G60 for 70k miles, and it only needed basic maintenance, I never even needed to replace the Bosch plugs in all that time :)
  13. As advised by Jim, I've put this ad in the eBay and Misc section, as the Cars for Sale bit doesn't work at the mo. I've moved on in the world now and bought an A5 3.0tdi, and due to a rather disastorous weekend (the Mrs' smashed her car up) the Passat has got to go. (I will post some pictures up once I've had the chance to clean it up a bit) Basic spec: 2002 1.9tdi 130 Sport Estate Tiptronic gearbox Heated Cloth interior, Sports seats, Sports steering wheel. MOT Until July 2013 Taxed until end of April 2013 Tuning Box, which puts the power up to approximately 170. Can be switched on or off from a switch below the dashboard. The tiptronic works fautlessly, and has done for the whole of my ownership. I've owned the car for just over 5 years, and in that time I have had to do very little unexpected maintenance (a couple of blocked injectors and actually, that's all I can think of. Regularly serviced, oil and filter changed 4 weeks ago. Wheels are geniune VW 5 spokes 16" ones (Galaxy I think). I still have the Road Americas, but tbh the tyres on those are shot, and they definitely would need a refurb. Economy wise, I've found it very economical, frequently seeing 60mpg on the on-board computer on good runs, and it rarely dips below 40mpg. It's got a genuine VAG "Swan-neck" detachable towbar and tows our twin-axle caravan with confidence. It also has "air assisters" on the rear suspension, with an internal socket which makes a huge difference to the ride when towing. The headlights were replaced about 3 years ago with good quality (TUV Approved) LED and Halogen beams. This had a very positive effect on the lighting, and also looks pretty cool. Externally it's not perfect, with a few scrapes on the rear bumper, but could probably be sorted out by a good painter, but to me I've never bothered as this was definitely a working wagon. So, with all of that, I'm looking for £1,300 for the basic car... however, this is one other option... It currently has approx £2k worth of stereo equipment fitted, including JVC KX-44 Head Unit, with USB, DVD and Bluetooth, Boston Acoustics speakers in the standard door pods (these alone were nearly £400), sub in boot and all powered through 2x Denon DCA-800 Amplifiers (approx £600 each) To save me stripping the stereo out of the car, and selling the parts individually I am willing to leave them in for the princely sum of £500 extra. One other note, I am not interested in any swaps or silly offers. I have enough cars in my life at the minute So, anybody interested probably best to PM me on board.
  14. Looks excellent, only just seen this one. Reminds me of the Campaign, hence why James and myself can speak from experience when we talk about making sure it's properly cared for.
  15. I'd be up for coming to a RR day at Stealth definitely, but unfortunately now having a Grandaddy Corrado I'd be there for the social and photo ops :), or alternatively if it's late enough in the spring I might bring the Skyrocket out.
  16. Well, I'm sort of back, in a compromised Corrado spiritual successor... Picked up a 3.0TDI A5 Quattro on Saturday, as I can't afford these days to have a daily driver, and two different "toy" cars (ie Scirocco and Corrado), I thought the A5 suits both daily (family) requirements and damn good fun to drive too :)
  17. Ooooh - fave wheels for a Raddo ever :) Nothelle Classics, I was sooo many times NEARLY the owner of some of these, but the timing was always slightly wrong :( Go for it, would love to see this once you've sorted it.
  18. Don't know if I'd consider myself an expert in technical duties (that would just be foolish), but I'm quite an expert on Raddo history etc... and I still keep my eye in, despite not having had a Raddo for nigh on 5 years now.
  19. Don't recognise the registration on that one tbh - it's certainly not my old one, or the Coventry one though, and I assume that it's not James' either.

    Dehumidifiers

Carcoons are excellent, I've got the Rocco stored in one of their outdoor models, as my garage is a bit too thin for the door openings. Cost me about £400 I think, and only costs about £20 per year to run it. Uses 120mm PC fans, and keeps the battery topped up at the same time.
