  1. Good effort ABV. Like the cabin filter - nice addition and will stop debris falling in. I've noticed others have popped some tights over the mesh. Where abouts are you from Canada (saw on another thread you mentioned)? I always thought you were UK based. I know it's a big ol country but small world and all that - my Dad and half brothers (x3) live out there - Sault Sainte Marie. Prior to that they lived in White Rock, Vancouver/Surrey District.
  2. Just catching up and a bit late to the party - fantastic news you've got her up and running and MOT'd but sorry to hear of the stress at the end. I can relate and don't think I'd have slept a wink knowing other cars were moving about next to it. I'm glad all turned out well. With regards to what is next... well you've got to enjoy it! Maybe get another project if funds and space allow? Having 2 or 3 things to tinker with will keep you busy as I gather like me you love a project and by the time you've finished the others you''ll have the odd job to do on the Corrado to keep it sweet. This is what I've done - Corrado 16v mini project and a Mk2 Golf GTI 8v full resto. I couldn't sell my white one after all the effort to date. Besides I need to source some cloth recaros like yours for the white before it is done anyway 🙂
  3. A dog of a Corrado for sure. I hate the term "barn find" being used to imply a positive selling point and I also hate it being used when the car clearly hasn't been stored in a barn. That car has lived out in all weathers hence the pink paint and moss and crap all over it.
  4. Cheers Cressa. So I tried a different tact with Eibach and asked if their pro kit springs were more or less stiff than the 325/230 above They replied that their springs were "less stiff" So now we know, would have liked numbers but thats good enough for me. I'll be getting my car back this week so will be able to refimiliarise myself after a 7 month break. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  5. And just for completeness - H&Rs email Hello, Thank you for your e-mail. The spring rate of the front axle is 44 N/m. The spring rate of the rear axle is 27 N/m. If you have further questions, you can contact me. Mit freundlichen Grüßen / best regards Dana-Sophie Henke Verkauf / Sales H&R Spezialfedern GmbH & Co. 6. As if by magic - Eibach have just replied but won't give out the info Hi Matt, Thank you for your message. Unfortunately we are not allowed to provide you with the spring rates, because we have to handle this very sensible information only for internal needs. Following please find all spring information which we can provide. Front Rear Spring characteristic: progressive progressive Outside diameter: 140 mm 109 mm Wire diameter: 13,00 mm 10,00 mm Total coils: 8,2 9,7 I thank you for your understanding and hope to have been of assistance for you. 7. Hi Guys, Does anyone know what the spring rates are for the pro kit? I'm researching whether I can have my cake and eat it - slightly lowered but comfortable suspension. On reading historic threads I came to the conclusion that 325 Ib/ft up front and circa 230 Ib/ft in the rear was a good road set up for road use. I can't find what the eibach rates are but do know eibach have screwed up the rear springs (i have the correct replacements) and they don't offer springs specifically for the VR6 so I have a niggle in my mind that they weren't designed for the VR6. I have emailed H&R (who do have a kit for the VR6 29872-1) and they have told me 325ib/ft up front and 200 Ib/ft on the rear which is a good match to the figures above. Vince at Stealth also commented he had found H&R springs and were softer than eibach. Now suspension is subjective and that's why I want to know the springs rates on eibach to know for sure. I haven't driven my VR6 in 7 months but I don't remember it being as supple as the H&R springs I have just fitted to a Golf mk4 (I know apples and pears). The Golf has Billy B4s where as the Corrado has B8s. And just for anyones interest - Bilstein technical have confirmed to me that the shortened B8 shocks will work perfectly fine stock height corrado springs.
  8. My white one was first registed by VW Audi at Stanwell Boston in Lincs on 30/11/95. It was registered to a company (T A Smith & Co Ltd - Farm Produce company now disolved). I still have the original dealer plate surrounds but the front one got snagged by my car cover 😞 The car lived with them for 4 years and covered 45k. It was on a private place (K5 ELM) during that time. It then moved on to it's second owner and onto another private place (C5 OMA) for the next 10 years and remained in Licolnshire. Then onto the third owner for 3 years in Andover, 4th who bought it for his dad who sadly died before possession, 5th who had it a year and then I bought it. It would be nice to trace the owners via the private plates but don't know how to do that (K5 ELM is a newish Land Rover and C5 OMA is on a newish Ford Fiesta)
  9. I love your seats Cressa - that's the only interior I'd buy for mine. Car is looking super too.
  10. Love a good house build thread, can't believe I missed this. Great work and excellent garage you're building at the rear.
  11. Oh bloody hell you've had bad luck there. The rear leg room space on the TT is terrible and definitely no good for adult passengers so maybe that is by the by. The A5/S5 coupe might be an interesting alternative if you were after something else with an Audi badge. With regard to the VR6/16v I have one of each, but I have only just picked up the 16v. The VR6 can be very good on fuel; the best I have seen is 38mpg on roads like your commute and I ususally average around 28mpg which includes some full bore accelerations. I suspect the VR6 driven normally would perform just as we as the 16v. You're more likely to get a better car for £4.5k going for a 16v though. Sorted VR6s have gone up a lot in money these days. Another alternative could be a mk2 Golf? In keeping with the VW breed but something different. You'll also get to have a bomb proof 8v engine again too. I've got one of these too but it is in early project stages where it needs taking apart and restoring.
  12. Oh no, I'm really gutted for you. So much history and it looked immaculate. Sobering thought how quickly they can be taken away. On the positive side that car was used well and loved; it could not have had a better life. What next? That is a difficult a question. Everything is repairable but like you say maybe not worth the effort. Likely to be a Cat S with the rear 3/4 damage but even repaired you'll have that cat rating over your head forever. The car seems too nice and well spec'd with those alloys (did you have leather too?) to let sit in some random breakers yard. Buying it back seems sensible even if it is to rob the nice bits for yourself and sell the rest on - I'm pretty sure you would come out on top. As for finding another Corrado it depends how much you want another. I think you could pick up a very tidy 16v for that budget.... but I can see the attraction in trying something else after 16 years. The TT is a nice timeless design.
  13. Nice good buy Keyo. As for Spoonfeds PR message I too wish I could shut down for a rest and tell people to stop asking me questions but alas the mortgage would not get paid and my employer would get upset with my for not fulfilling my responsibilities... Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  14. Yeah i think that will be big enough - they're about 4m long and 1.7m wide so you'll have lots of space around the sides. Length wise will be fine with some shelcving at the end. Looking forward to seeing it.
  15. Nice garage Keyo - the dream and something nice like that will add value. I'm starting to look into plans myself for my new house. Although you can buy these as kits on ebay (without the tiles) for circa £5-6k i suspect with ground works and tiles they'll be out of my budget (£15-£20k max, but less would be nice) 😞. I was planning on erecting it myself and getting a groundsman in to do the concrete floor and a roofer to do the tiles. I wanted something like this as I now work from home mostly I thought I could use the space above as an office https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Green-Oak-fronted-frame-Garage-2-Bay-Cart-Lodge-Green-Oak-Barn-home-office/114278481092?hash=item1a9b873cc4:g:GGMAAOSwz2lXBgLU Could you not do the standard double garage under permitted development? I know for the one I was thinking I could not as it's too tall. I was also thinking about a standard double to save some money. I'll message you 🙂 Cheers Matt
  16. Cressa I've gone for the swg one (matt black) on my car, will be updating some pictures once back from the bodyshop. The swg replaces the stock one that doesn't cover the scuttle tray. I used to not like them that much as I like stock stuff but it looks like it will do the job and keep it tidy underneath. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  17. Looking good Keyo Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  18. Great news and always nice to hear of a corrado that has passed! I'm up next month. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  19. Hey, I now have M447 BLE having recently picked it up from another forum member who had owned it for many years 🙂 It's done about 88k now. It's been lightly used and loved, still in pretty good shape but has laid up for a couple of years following a couple of setbacks and picked up a couple of minor battle scars. I'm currently working on getting it running (fuel issue) but don't forsee any big troubles. The car is stored away from me at the mo so will update in a few weeks time when I next see it. PS there are some pictures of it on my readers ride thread.
  20. Looks good, not far now. Good luck on the windscreen. Im waiting for one to be fitted too! Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  21. Great thread, I feel like I have completed youtube since I've watched so much of it. I haven't been getting much decent content to watch for a while, perhaps because of lockdown. I have 346 channels i'm subscribed to, mostly cars. Im into normal cars that I'm likely to be able to afford so none of the supercar stuff. At the moment channels that stick out are Furiousdriving - lots of old project cars he works on Memphis - vw mk1 Soup Classic motoring - great videos Christian Smith - Mk3/Mk4 Golfs Mk2 Owners Club JohnnyGetsCash There is a distinct lake of VW Corrado content (and Mk2 Golf content too)
  22. Ahh cheers, no nothing Corrado parts wise is cheap! But good work on sourcing them though and at least you have a couple of spare switches!
  23. Great detail Cressa and coming along nicely. I had never thought about using a laser to line up the sticker but seems obvious now I've seen it. Where did you get your window switch clips from?
  24. Hi, I used to be able to change the title of my thread. How do I do this in the new forum? I'd like to change my readers ride thread from "My Candy White VR6" to My Corrado(s) as I seem to love them so much they multiply. Thanks Matt
  25. I saw somewhere (maybe facebook) someone had this under their passenger seat but I would guess you'd need it set at its highest level. https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-pioneer-ts-wx130ea_p-40600.htm?gclid=CjwKCAjwx9_4BRAHEiwApAt0zuz0dNClfSJBGBOXh9I_Bz3fFoMQ19il0-MVbzFvNTsRVzLXwsZuIhoCXK0QAvD_BwE Another option is to custom make an enclosure for the boot on the side.
