  1. We will never know the full story- maybe the garage told the owner there was an issue and he said just get chains on and sell- Im happy I only paid him 3 k not 5 k what he was asking. I find this very unlikely though and believe the garage either did not identify issue or buried their head in the sand - ignorance is bliss. I can also add the long term owner had a set of BBS RS003 on the car and the last owner flogged them I purchased the car off - can hardly blame him. 160k on advert car was actually 157k when it came to me- had done 1 k after chains- I drove it for a year or two with a smelly oil exhaust - it was horrid and after rebuild the power gains were immense - also to note it was drinking oil before rebuild.
  2. Aye I think he was well trained up at this point - I have lots of receipts from seat who he used for 10 years - amount of little things like barrels - locks- handles- so nice to see the dealer could just order in new parts , window actuator £50 etc.
  3. Guys I guarantee you Vince put that as a VSR but was in fact a Schrick - what year was the group buy 2003 same year as receipt ?? I can also say Koni shocks were cut out in 2019 as seen better days . h a r front springs rusty and dumped- rears good in my garage- sold the engine mount as wanted to try oe which i regret- eibach arbs got powder coated black with new eibach mounting kit/ bush. Sold the schrick to fund purchase of VSR. Jetex and BMC binned to old. There are missing receipts from my file to as spoke to long term owner from above receipt told me about rebuild and also he purchased the last sunroof in stock, very good owner for 15 years plus- he moved on to a E46 M3. I knew something was up when I saw the car as could smell the oil - but could also see it was accident free with some juicy parts and black leather, so he was asking 5 k - he got 3k for the car and I got the keys.
  4. This is a tasty old receipt 👅.
  5. This is the next time chains was done - factory - seat 67k - Austin 156k - now stealth 160k with rebuild . I doubt seat would of used the uprated Mk4 as not even out yet ha , glad I got it on my newly built engine - so my car has had four sets in its life ., Note as this point I believe valves were bent all ready so a Damn waste of money by owner - perfect example of why I use stealth .
  6. Could of had a big bill before that invoice not sure .
  7. Not sure this is a second receipt could just be a head rebuild - but it says finish off building engine - could be a missing receipt .
  8. I will dig out the receipt later and post - the only thing that worries me is the vsr flap failing and bits dropping in - famous on Bmw variables - they actually use a blanking plate aftermarket as have 6 flaps - must say though the vsr flap looks a lot more beefy snd well engineered then a Schrick flap . Happened to my mates shrick and bits rattled through block - well worth modding flap on a shrick to beefen up - Vince has a chap that can do it . There known as butterfly flaps in the automotive world . pictures illustrates Bmw butterfly and blanking plates .
  9. Thanks mate - did you see that high miler g60 / owner looks like he has spent a fortune on it - it’s green - had a paint job - high miler. 240 - just thought it would be a good beater for you to leave outside - especially if you could get it for 4 k - even if you ran it to the ground it’s worth 4 k - owners done loads to it . Believe it’s stage 4 and had charger serviced etc belts .
  10. It’s true what you are saying - second engine was caused by over due chains I think - car has full service history but still chains should be done at 100 k which owner waited to long - first rebuild been a very late block with stamp on back and not on front we’re famous for been changed out for low miles - have all new now and with oil change at 500 - then oil change at 2500 / followed rev 2500 brake in procedure - followed by oil change at 5000 this engine is fully on me snd should out live me I hope . Really is brutally strong now broken in . I did all the mileage as well on motorway and didnt let the car idle on drive .
  11. Im chuffed chap- I was expecting it be 5 cm long when it arrived - I just got a JP one as experiment but quality seems fine, Gates make one for £13 if you really want to push the boat out ha. OE still available to pretty cheap. https://www.lllparts.co.uk/en/product/seat-030103493bb-vent-hose/mpn/030103493bb
  12. Im going through all my hoses as I'm running 2000 boost on MFA and want to get her upto 2200 - charger is ported . I began inspecting all hoses and have ordered some new vag boost hoses at a horrid price from Classics/ heritage. I got to the isv hose and noticed some damage- sometimes you real need to fold bend a hose to find it. The isv hose 037133394f has been obsolete for years - only other option I could see was a gash silicon one from USA with sign writing on it- would of been best part of £80 by the time it got here with postage and tax etc. So I began googling VW isv hose - breather hose on ebay and saw this and for a tenner gave it a punt. 030103493BB Mk3- polo breather hose. Delighted only a tenner and ready available ebay- just a small chop to the end and perfect . Always nice when you can achieve a oe look for cheap and the original part is obsolete. I might try more of this now on other obsolete parts. Over the moon to solve a problem for cheap lol.
  13. If you just start it up Vince will tell you if it needs a rebuild by just sniffing the exhaust gasses/ oil smell lol. Im not kidding. Mine was burning oil you could smell it- took the engine apart and had two slightly bent valves- good way to test this id put the valve end in a drill and spin it and you will see , also slight ovulation of a cylinder- i think the bent valves were caused by timing out from last owner as he got the chains done after the car had issues- mechanics initial report timing miles out- strangely enough my car also had a rebuild at about 60 k by a seat dealers- block now on third re build- I wouldnt say its as bullet proof engine as say an 8V that's for sure.
  14. They had to put it in hiding in case Steven Harper got his tools near it 😂
  15. The biggest catch with a Corrado is you need to build your own spares supply which can be costly - can be cheaper if you brake a couple of old dogs . You buy new parts that are not needed so you don’t end up without .
  16. Does sound like its still with owner- just odd as the owner has not posted for 2 or 3 years- maybe the car has had a catastrophic failure Dox after rebuild or something odd like that and waiting to be repaired.
  17. Good point unless it was towed straight into some rich farmers barn who just likes to walk round his car indoors and not drive them as his an asshole and had far too many eu grants over the years lol .
  18. Ok looks to of been sold in Jan 2021 as new V5 issued- so if sorn I imagine still in uk ??
  19. Interesting says MOT ran out in NOV 2020 . Dox can you check if its been exported ? That could indicate a sale. https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/
  20. Good question - James Poore I think his name was - he was on Fb I would drop him a pm and ask straight up- I mean you own one so cant see why you would not share info. I dont think it sold at Bonhams auction - sp may well of been a private sale - be interesting to know where the car ended up if you can find out- may well of gone overseas. https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=10157781843275310&set=gm.1483562921823892
  21. Done really well there mate hats off to you - have you thought about any other cars or just going to leave it this year.
  22. Me too if I did it for the money I would have to fire myself for gross misconduct in the budget department. Still its nice if owners can recuperate a fair chunk of what they spent if they want to move on to another marque so have some capital.. Thing is once you got them real nice and reliable if you sold you would really have to wait for a car off one of the members or be prepared to throw money at a project- I would I have a rule now if its a project would have less then 100k miles to help out on costs v value re sale. .
  23. Its not a miracle that prices go up - if owners spend a lot of money renovating the cars they are going to want as much return possible and not give them away. The real winners are the London low miler storms with a mop over with a rotty botty to auction- I mean auction is the best place to sell a car that looks good on photos as you dont get near or meet the new owner and most are sold unseen by buyer- these are the true financial winners that picked them up for 5k - spent 1k and sold for 20k plus. I agree with Dox a low mileage G60 - you could make a penny or two out of them - plenty of VR6 about still which you will see at meets- rarely a G60 . My black one is on 160k (40k total reno+ purchase inc rare parts which makes up 10 k of it ) and g60 185k( 15 k reno inc purchase) - on that basis alone I would never sell them at auction as most auction buyers have not got a scooby what makes a good car and look at mileage of a measure of condition. I mean I would struggle to get 40k for both of them - no way would I be selling that black one unless it beat one of them low mile nail storms in valuation as its a 1 off and every part changed with a stealth 5 k rebuild top and bottom. so its staying with me to enjoy as I really think the market would not understand the build and the rare parts on the car could over shadow the renovation get over looked . Everything I have learnt . A low miler 997 or 996 turbo mezger- weekend car, 2 k miles annual- sure fire winner will double in value and be free motoring - also all the parts are easy to get hold of- you would come out at a minimum braking even over 10 years- longer you keep it the more you will make . There is even an ex rado owner on here I saw he purchased a 993 gt track car for peanuts years ago like 15k - them cars are worh 250 k now I wonder if he kept it lol be in the Maldives right now.
  24. These look cool. could mount right of console https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/382584339029
