2. No worries mate glad I can be of a help . Are you considering the front subframe as well ? Here is a picture so you can see what I did and make a decision. Maybe forward it to Vince and say ditto. Front subfram your basically looking at four bushes https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK2-CORRADO-FRONT-CROSS-MEMBER-MOUNT-BUSHES-x-4-191199233-A1223/192233123396?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 No point doing the wishbones you can get a pair new for £50 febi . Anti roll bar bushes and droplinks, track rods. Three engine, transmission mounts, also consider your strut mounts if you didnt do them when you did your supension.

No problem mate I just had a leak in my R129 in the rear footwell and the mechanic stripped out the whole back seats and boot, turns out it was the rear drains were blocked cost me a few hundred in labour for him to rod out a drain oh the joys, was disappointed as a Merc specialist he did not know this before stripping it all out as I gave him photos and pinpoint instructions but did not read them hey ho :bonk:
4. I sourced them mate they dont really have time to get them as a lot of them are obselete or need to do a bit of investigation work , that's why I reccomend on purchasing them before hand so you dont get any cable straps . All can be sourced from ebay apart from x2 1H0609734F which your local dealer will be a able to supply. I really recommend when working on any part of the car to go on to oempec and analise the diagram and conclude what parts are worth sourcing in that area , a mechanic has not the time to do that will just change out the faulty part and make do with snapped clips . I supplied all my parts for Vince, he did'nt seem to mind.
5. When you do the rear beam the two bushes will make a huge difference , also need to source a few clips that attach the hand brake cables and brake cables. Rear beam refurbishment. This will save you some time. Recommend getting the rear beam powder coated estimate £50 -£70.00 x2 1H0609734F handbrake cable clips last letter is updated from original part number get from VW £1.60 x2 191609639B handbrke clips £4 for the pair x6 811611797 brake cable clips cheap x2 191609657 spacers cheap x2 Rear subframe bushes febi and bolts Febi Rear Axle Bush Prokit Repair Set Beam 1220 x2 holding bracket 1H0611715 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Febi-Rear-Axle-Bush-Prokit-Repair-Set-Beam-1220-GENUINE-5-YEAR-WARRANTY/173426827227?epid=1112937175&hash=item28610b5fdb:g:b7EAAOSw7U9bVhrW My handbrake was not working that well as somone had used cable ties previously the cable was jamming so really do need to use these parts. Should look something like this, there is a minus metal clip missing and the bushes.
6. Mine is the the one on the furthest ramp behind the first Rado when he pulls the car in , you can see the large aluminum aftermarker radiator the last owner fitted. Can't wait to get her back next week, Vince is going to keep it for a couple of days and drive her home as there has been loads of work done to her, also check what the new eibach and B4 Bilstein set up is like with all new, engine & shock mounts, f/r subframe bushes, track ends every bush in the car changed. Should drive like it left the factory but a little firmer. Will post some pics once complete. It's ashame he didn't spend some time showing the Corrados missed opputunity.
7. Thanks for the link I'll have a butcher at that.

Not to cause uneccesary worry , I'm sure there was a member selling a great Corrado that was damaged through an electrical fire that two members off here purchased. I think he mentioned that he thought it was a leak in that seal that caused elctricity to arch and cause a fire on the blower motor. Might be completley wrong but I now carry a fire extinguisher in the glove box and a spanner to disconnect the battery if such an occurence happened. Also with any leaks the first port of call is to check none of the cars drains are blocked , there are some in the sunroof, one on either bottom side of the door towards the engine, not sure where the rest are but I'm sure the other members we be able to help out.
10. Love them OZ wheels . Were the OZ wheels stock on the S model , what else came with the S model , also what is the most reliable model/engine block for the S4 ? TVR have gone up alot the last 2 years as well I have noticed . The none turbo S4 that puts puts 160 BHP? what is the 0 - 60 on that. Cheers.
11. Cool I would like to own a red/dark blue espirit S4 one day, I do have that feeling though they might double in price in the next 5 years or so as people realise thy are a bargain alternative to a air cooled 911. They have all ready gone up a good chunk all ready. Have you the tartan interior in your S1 , got to be one of the coolest interiors ever made.
12. Yes the leathers go for a pretty penny ! Would you mind if I ask what other cars you have in your collection ? Cheers.
13. That is true but you have good mileage on the car and it is a hobby , also you would loose a couple of grand annualy easily on a modern car in depreciation and maintenance , therefore it's ok in my opinion if you enjoy and own the car for a few years.
14. After reading your to do list I would estimate with your purchase of car more like 15k-18k and above. Paint job and your recardo leather seats on there could be upto 4-5 k easily on its own if done to a high standard.
15. The best mechanic that could work on your car is yourself but the catch is you have to learn and have the facilities, know one will care for your car more then yourself, even garage owners that have a good reputation have to rely on their staff and things do go amiss. Many a time I have considered going down the lease option and dropping my classic car hobby as have had a couple of run ins with mechanics who have butchered my car and wrecked the whole whole ownership experience, even though I sourced a specilaist in that particular car. It can be extremly hard to communicate with some of them and I have even gone to the effort of writting clear instructions with photograps but they do not even bother reading them half the time, you just end up with a huge bill for diagnosing and changing out parts.
16. Sounds like a great plan for your rado , wow Fife is a far way to travel to get to Stealth racing, you probably saw my black magic Vr6 when you was there, Vince has had my car the last few weeks, complete new supension , bushes, mounts and exhaust system, Shrick refurbisment, subframes powder coated, sounds like your spending an absolute fortune on yours. Good luck with your project.
17. [ Hi mate, If you need any tips and what to look out for feel free to message me i know these cars like the back of my hands, had a couple of 996 , at a miniumum make sure you get the the cylinders boroscoped as it's not a rumour they are like choclate, I had a 10 k rebuild on a 996.2 2003 c2 with only 62k on the clock and full dealer service history and I really do look after my cars. Still love Porchse when they are working but I stick to a Merc pre 2000 V8 now for the reliability and there tiger tank build quality. If you can strech it go for the 997 Gen 2 , I actually am a bit odd though and prefer the look of a 996 compared to most. My biggest regret was not getting a 964 in white with blue leather back in 2004 only on for 12k but ended up buying some scaffolding instead:bonk: QUOTE=GUS;1215505]Sadly I'm selling this next April onwards. as I've decided to make the move to a Porsche 996/997 I'll post up my own detailed classified add in the New Year, but here's a little preview. So after purchasing my Raddo VR6 from Gibbo back in Nov 2015 @ 120,193 miles, even though there was no sound of any rattle or anything . The paranoid freak in me could not relax until I new the chains/tensioner were sorted. So was booked into Stealth 7 months later @120,681 miles. Was also talked into getting the SP 263 cams and clutch at the same time. I've spent close to £3,500k on it in my 3yrs of ownership. Its now just over 122k Miles, not been driven hard at all, and not even decided what I let it go for. Some guidance here would be appreciated. PS: Gibbo if your still on this forum and interested in buying it back let me know, she's still lookin tidy as when you owned it. Gus.
18. It is odd it might be a part that fits other models who knows.
19. If it was a VR6 this would be a great kit to change with the radiator. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Thermostat-VW-Golf-3-Passat-35i-Corrado-53i-2-8-2-9-VR6-Motor-AAA-ABV-Syncro/371097522774?hash=item566722d256:g:sCUAAOSwg9dZwViq
20. Sorry not really thread related. Big up to GER040 for sending me the seat tilt handels from N.Ireland. Have sent you a Pm. Cheers mate.
21. Don’t think that if it is from VW Heritage that it is top notch some of their parts are great but some are exspensive and bottom of the range , ring that rad company and ask what brand it is . I tend to use heritage for Vw classics Germany , all other parts I try to source Febi,Bilstein, Bosch, Lemforder, Hella etc , topran and such is the last resort and parts with euro flags that don’t even tell you the source of the part or manufacturer.
22. Like fend said though worth asking them the brand they have in stock Hella would be a big yes.
23. Its getting cheaper by the post ha. https://www.adrad.co.uk/prices/prices.php?type=radiator&id=VW357&model=CORRADO&make=VOLKSWAGEN
24. The distributor is Prasco I believe the manufacturer is AVA cooling have a good reputation.
