  1. Fingers crossed there's room at the end of the day to stick my Fiesta ST on :) Be a good chance to take some abuse from Vince & Jon too of course ;)

How are you finding the ST? I was going to pop over to this with my MK5 but the clutch is slipping pretty badly. Vince has ordered a Helix for me but it won't be fitted in time, booooooo :(

  2. The plastic intake on the AUE is really fragile. I reckon 8psi would be your lot! The R32's is a lot stronger, but you can't use that unless you use an R32 head with it.

8psi should be good for 300lbft though and will feel loads quicker than standard. If you want more power / torque at the top end, you'd be better off with a short intake, but it'll kill your bottom end on the 24V.

  3. Titanium is a complete waste in an engine (imo) unless you want a billion rpm from it :)

    Yeah I would never use

There is nothing wrong with Chinese made products per se, the problem is the western organisations (mostly ebay shops) who pay them for **** quality specifically in order to maximise their profit margins. They don't give a rat's arse if a crap wheel buckles and puts you in a ditch.

The difference with Apple is they pay China to make their phones to a particular standard, and it shows.

But thanks to the ebay cretins selling cheap knock offs, Chinese made products have a bad rep in general, and that's allowed to happen because there are too many gullible people in the world who think a product on ebay that's less than half the price of a branded product, will be the same quality.

  4. Wouldn't be surprised if the H Beams he's selling are the same as these - http://www.spturbo.com/onlinestore/index.php/volkswagen/vr6/12-valve/pistons/vr6-h-beam-connecting-rods-5-16-bolt.html

Anything that Bill Schimmel has signed off and sells is as good an endorsement as any in my book :) He used to sell 'Crower' branded rods, but now uses these 'unbranded' ones.

    Rods not needed with

Loving the billet rocker cover, billet dipstick and vernier cam wheels for the VR6 he's recently made!

  5. Save up for a better one. You've survived without a Corrado this long, so another year of hard saving and researching won't kill you ;)

If you're new to the car, avoid major modifications like the plague (such as Climate control) unless they've been done to an exceptional standard and fully documented, otherwise you won't have the foggiest clue where to look if something goes wrong with it!

  6. Hmm, yes but...! Just don't rag it - if you think about it, your car will get up to temperature much quicker if it's being driven than left to idle. I'm probably going against the grain, but at the end of the day, some guy is grumpy about an engine being left running. Unless I'm wrong, I'm not aware that VW think you should leave your engine running to warm it up, so the problem could be solved by stopping running it and wasting your own fuel?! I'm sure our Kevin Bcon used to rant about something similar but not sure if this type of scenario. :)

Next time the old guy has a problem/stuck in snow etc... be sure to help him. The world works beautifully when we do things like that.

Rant? Me? :) Be like Bacon, cause Bacon don't like waiting, for nothing.......so he just gets in and drives off :)

I blame car makers. Ford can't have patented *ALL* methods of screen heating, surely?

I can understand both sides of the situation to be honest, but whinging at someone for preparing their car for the journey to work is a bit pathetic.

What car defrosters don't appreciate is just how loudly an exhaust drone can resonate inside a house. What grumpy gits don't appreciate is car defrosters don't really have a lot of choice this time of year!

Apparently Britain is famed for it's tolerance. Really? It's not like people are idling all day long is it? It's pretty sodding obvious why people would be idling for 5 mins over winter! Pensioners like him look for reasons, any reasons, for confrontation and they think because they are old, they won't get a punch in the face for being an unreasonable twunt.

  7. The 12hp comes from revs by increasing the rev limiter.

I would recommend getting the SP263 cams along with a Stealth Racing remap and that is a difference you WILL notice immediately.

Something else worth mentioning, don't bother with a Schrick VGI if you are using SP 263 cams. Stealth are seeing no gain what so ever (by adding a VGI), so I suspect the VGI was tuned for the stock cams, or their own 268s.

  8. Likewise Andi - I don't run into this issue at all, and I use just about every browser going on both MacOS and Windows on a daily basis. It's really weird how it seems to be affecting a small number of users.

Neither do I and to be honest, I don't care about adverts anyway. Plenty of other websites I use have adverts too, it's just how the internet is quickly becoming. I blame Minority Report.

  9. But it's hard to feel sorry for the companies involved, and I'll be frank.. where was the sympathy for the motorist or the average joe from UK based oil producers when the prices were through the roofs? I don't think it's any secret that the oil industry has enjoyed extremely healthy incomes over the last few years with extremely high prices at the pumps, and they just sat back and raked it in. 6 months of cheap fuel and the entire industry is on it's backside already?

That's the nature of business when you work in such an industry - when times are great, they're great. And when times are bad, they're bad. People involved in the industry earn extremely well but the trade off is that markets can change, and things can dry up overnight. Surely anyone who goes to work in such an industry must understand that it's never guaranteed to be a secure, high paying job for life?

As hard as it sounds, many people working in the industry were relying on the good times lasting forever and living their lifestyle accordingly. Rather than making hay while the sun shone, they were basing mortgages and lifestyle on salary, plus overtime. Dangerous cocktail.

That said, if your commodity is open to market forces, as hard as it is, I would rather the money my family spends per month on fuel is halved, rather than keep other people in work.

Completely agree with those points. No one showed any sympathy what so ever to the innocent people who lost their jobs in the Finance sector because of greed at the top, so why should I sob into my tissue about the oil industry potentially collapsing?

Humans never learn. They knew it was coming but did nothing. The good times are just not sustainable. Over the next decade or two as alternative energies finally gain momentum, I can't see demand for crude remaining high anyway. Supply and demand and all that.

The whole world is volatile at the moment and we're lucky to have a job. As traumatic as it is losing your job, it's not a god given right to have one and people in volatile markets should have a back up plan imo.

I'm sorry but if you asked the nation: "Go back to paying £1.30+ a litre to keep oil industry jobs, or pay 99p a litre?" What do you think the over-riding response will be?

  10. I see Mr Cheesewire has stepped in to give some un-sugar coated appraisals of someones opinions :) lol :)

People who regurgitate what they've read on the internet - incorrectly - need to be corrected :D

Bore wash indeed. Modern TSI / TFSI engines bore wash a lot more than Corrados ever did :D

Plus that whole "It's a massive engine so MUST be massively powerful be default" ignorance ****es me off as well.
