I hope they haven't been chewing on any wires!

800 dorrooo is £530ish, + 23% (VAT & 3% car parts duty) brings it back up to £650ish. Shipping on top, split how ever many ways. There could be a worthy saving importing them!

Yep, TG is like greasy food and cakes. We all know what it is, but consume it anyway :) The production quality of TG is also leagues ahead of other car shows as well, which adds to the appeal.

3 points and a fine.
If you were doing 101 in a 70. Court, most probably.

Cheers bud!

On the main head gasket? I used Permatex Copper gasket spray on my VR6 turbo back in the day, but Vince found this blue sh1t that works better, which could be this Wellseal you boys speak of :)

Loctite 5910 you need for the cover plates. I think Halfords sell it actually.
You just need a thin layer but pay particular attention to the bottom corner of the head and the bottom cover. Do both sides of the gasket and put a reasonable amount on. That's a notorious leak spot.

Remember this is the bbc we're talking about. Hardly a noble institution and add to that topgears nature of attempting to cause controversy. A reg that literally spells out 1982 FKL. No coincidence there in my opinion.I didn't even notice the 1982 bit! Agreed in that case, definitely deliberate. I guess they didn't bargain on the backlash from the Argentinians! I reckon the production crew got complacent with their other provocative stunts, like "NASCAR is crap" painted cars in the US road trip, the USA painted motorbike in the Vietnam special and the drugs references in the Bolivia special.
Don't forget Clarkson is a controlling member of the Top Gear 'product', so it was probably him who steered the 1982 FKL stunt. Notice none of the 3 were in the cars being pelted with rocks!

That's spot on that is and exactly what I would have done, if I had a welder and the parts to hand at the time! The R32 needs nice skinny downpipes and the cats for torque.

Good man, I really need one now it's winter and Uncle Vince has 'Vinced' my ECU!
My 2WD O2Q price is £895 on that site, so would be handy to know what they can do that one for as part of the GB. Cheers.

That is what I would do if I did it again, use MK5 manifolds and modify either a stock MK5 DP or the 12V DP as mentioned. Look at the size of the flex bellows in that link. That's been done properly.
-
Probably the latter!

£320 gets me:- new hands??, new battery, new seals, new crown & pressure tested. So it pretty much is just take the back off, blow on it, put a new battery in it, lol.
What a con! That's the last time I buy a posh watch. My mates are taking the pee now. "I could buy 30 Casios for the price of your service". They have a point :D

Yeah the UM downpipe requires the 2.8 / MK4 3.2 cast manifolds. The DP I used had 2 little flex bellows near the manifold flanges. I could feel they were too stiff just by moving the pipe around by hand, but it wasn't until I put the manifold end in a vice and used the whole length of the DP as leverage, did it become fully apparent how unsuitable they were. I tried it like that to begin with and the vibrations in the cabin were unacceptable. After I welded my own better quality and much longer (and therefore bend easier) bellows, things improved drastically.
It's your choice mate but I would ask them if the bellows have been updated recently or not, and you want ilok ones ideally, or better still, OEM MK4 style bellows.

That's all you ever hear about UnitedMotorsport mate. You could try [email protected] He used to respond to my emails pretty quickly.
I used their conversion DP and a couple of things worthy of note: 1) The flex bellows are waaaaaay to stiff, because they're too short basically. 2) the flange to mate up to a VR6 cat is way too thin, so will distort, and in a Corrado application, that bit is all wrong anyway. When it was bolted up, the cat and the DP/Exhaust alignment all went to c0ck putting a lot of strain on the flange and the flex joints.
In short, it looks a nice piece, but it's crap in all honesty. I had to buy a welder and heavily modify it before it was any use in my Corrado. I basically cut their flange off, welded on a much better and bigger flex bellows, then V banded that and the cat, job done. Jobs I shouldn't have had to do for £350, but it's par for the course in this country.

Looking very nice. Always liked silver ones! They're great cars for all year daily use.

I saw it there too, on Saturday when I was getting my ED30 mapped. It's been there ages! The wheels look even better in the flesh.

I'll let you know when I see the invoice paperwork. Did some googling and the price I was quoted appears to be Omega's own standard price, so I don't feel quite so swindled now.

The effects of intake air temp on a n'asp engine's performance is pretty negligible compared to a turbo engine, hence why VW had to use a faster one for the 1.8T and TFSI engines.

Goldsmiths in Ipswich. Yeah it's just a quartz one Jim. I didn't fancy paying another £500+ at the time for the automatic version. They don't do it in-house, they contract it out. I will ask them when I collect it exactly what £325 buys me, and if it literally is just a new battery and blowing on the insides, I won't be chuffed. It must be a replacement quartz mech at that price, surely?

Didn't know what to make of the Falklands thing in the Patagonia special tbh. It didn't seem faked / deliberate (on the BBC's part) to me, but it was pretty clear the instigators got wind of the filming in advance, and then organised the mob attacks accordingly. The Argentinian police were feckin useless and unsupportive too!
That aside, the show was boring anyway, imo. Didn't have anywhere near the fun factor of their other road trips.

Took my Seamaster in before xmas for a new battery and just got a nice bill for £325 as it needed a 'service' apparently. What a crock. I bet it's just a cheap generic mechanism inside it, or can an Omega guru confirm otherwise? And what exactly is a 'service'? Changing the seals, stick a new battery in it? What else?

Which Town centres do you know that open their doors at 0600 Kev!? :scratch:Humour bypass?

, don't wear jewellery rings etc of any form ,.Yeah same here. I haven't worn my Seamaster for about 4 years now, ever since owning a smartphone. The damn things are slowly taking over every aspect of life!

Is it worth chatting with Vince to see if he could get a bunch of them cheaper?
