Ok, so if i have the head lights off, the dimmer switch fades the light Ring around the headlight switch. And it doesnt always fade the dash lights when the headlight are on, sometimes only when the engine is off or just ignition?? And the brake warning light stays on VERY faintly after taking the handbrake off? And the heater controll back lights only work when they want to? Whats going on?? Neil

Well ive have my 2ltr 16v 1993 C for 3 weeks now and she was pretty much standard when i got her, but that wasnt to stay for long... This is how she was when i got her... Then i brought a few bits to tidy her up and make her my own... Before after..... Coming along nicely, next few bits in the pipe line are respray of bonnet and wings due to stone chips and then some new alloys, with right offset, these are ET40 with spacers.

My battery has gone so if i put all these cable ties together i can get towed out of here!

The jizzer ill be using is in a spray type, got to do it when enigne is cold so early one morning i think, before work :(

Atif - When my C (1995 VR6) suddenly wouldn't go into 1st 2nd and reverse three years ago and gear lever felt flabby, AA man immediately spotted breaking plasticky part in engine compartment. He fixed temporarily with superglue and cable ties. I got part fitted at VW garage it is called a "carrier" and is part no. 1J0711256 £7.33 plus VAT. If you stick your head down in the engine compartment (passenger side) you can reach in and fiddle with linkage and maybe confirm if this is indeed the problem. Hope it is something simple like that before you go dismantling stuff inside car! Has any body got any pictures on this? Will have a look today but im not sure what i should be looking for??? Neil

Just had my tracking done, but when i had 2 new front tyres put on yesterday and found out my alloys had 5mm spacers, so i took the front ones off. Now ive had the tracking done forgetting i had removed the front spacers leaving the rears on. So will my front tyres be 5mm pointing towards each other at the very front of the car! Please help as if this is the case i need to put the spacers back on a take it back! Neil

How low can i go then, with 7.5J wheels, i mean with then offset number(to the outside arch of the car)?

They are fine on the inner arches etc, they are closer to the calipers tho, and my brake pads are in need of a change, i have a feeling once i put new pads in they'll foul the alloys, could this the problem with the spacers?

just realised my alloys that came on my C have 5mm spacers, and the alloys are 40, thus making them offset 35. Any problems with running them without the spacers? and whats the propper offset for my C? Its a K reg 2ltr 16v. And yes i did a search, not found my asnwers exactly. Neil

just got a price for Toyo T1-R 205/40/17 £75 fitted and ballanced.

Due to me owning my C for a week now i want to re-new most of the worn parts. If anyone is around sheffield and wants a few hours helping me i need to change my brake disks, pads, blead system, change fuel filter(just tried it but cant get the bolts off) and to check my car over to see if everything is alright. You'll get paid for your troubles. I just dont want to have a go and get it wrong where as someone whos done it countless times before will know what to do! If anyone can help I'd be very greatful!

I need 4 new 17" tyres, but im not sure what to get, anyone any ideas on thats best, idealy i dont wanna spend more then about £70 a corner. But i do want great grip! Neil
