  1. They don't share the same earths so it's strange... Wipers have a relay but the sunroof one is built into the motor, I would re-seat everything you can see in the fuse box Also check the X-relief relay - position 4 with number 18 on it.
  2. If you think it is Pinking it might be worth trying some octane booster or marking and backing off the timing slightly... I've had a couple of bad tanks of optimax before thats made the car run really flat.
  3. Sunroof and rear wiper are on fuse 4 - I would change a couple of fuses anyway if original...
  4. As above have you changed the ECU power relay and ignition switch?
  5. If you slacken the belt you will be able to move the intermediate on it's own.
  6. I'd suspect the injector wiring if original - G60's run so hot the wires go brittle There is a test in the bentley where you measure resistance at the plug for the rail to see if you have all the injectors in circuit.
  7. I do too Jim, especially with the black Corrado badge too... Can you photoshop the before pic with a black spoiler? 8)
  8. Broken distributer shaft or knackered hall sender? Welcome to the forum btw...
  9. No - I'm afraid not... if your sure it's doing that then you need to locate the cylinder (try 1 and 6 first) and check for spark / see if the plugs oiled up / check compression etc. Hopefully might be a simple fix like a lead not seated correctly - I know Stealth (despite having the metal Hazet tool) always use a screwdriver to make sure the leads are properly seated.
  10. Cool, glad you got it sorted in the end! As Kip says they should fit but I've found pattern parts either don't fit well or don't last.
  11. Not sure we understand? Are you worried about the amount of oil in the boost pipes?
  12. Hmmm - G28 is a crank sensor and will always come up with the engine off - VW know this so shouldn't report as a fault... that signal would make the engine stall if lost so I don't think thats your problem! Looks like the Cam sensor is down though so your car will be running batch injection with retarded timing so will be about 30bhp down on performance. These are less than £40 from VW and farily easy to change, might be worth buying some plugs and leads too while your at it.
  13. Interesting... be good if someone could confirm these are the late MK4 calipers... I might take a look at one and see what sort of thing is at the end of the handbrake cable... SBD - any updates dude?
  14. The Search is your friend! viewtopic.php?f=3&t=32490
  15. Yeah it is fiddly but do-able with a mirror... You need a very flat . sharp screwdriver to slip under the clip and pull down, once it's out of it's grove you should be able to pull the sensor out.
  16. Need to drop it into diagnostic mode and see if your getting the speed signal - maybe just a stuck needle on the clocks.
  17. The other thing that will knacker it is you keeping cranking it when it's dead! Be patient man - maybe worth investing in a new battery anyway, £36 from TPS for your car although i'd get a bigger one than standard!
  18. Yeah, never liked those packs to be honest but if you have a knackered battery - ie it's a cell down then a fully charged Snap-On pack won't start it either. Whats the battery voltage? Might be worth taking to Halfords to get it tested.
  19. Yeah that's correct... same as I used Newer ones (from 2001 on) have a G suffix on that same part number - I wonder if thats when the cable clip got wider?
  20. Get a new one, if you've spent all that money charging it you don't want it held back by some knackered old tensioner!
  21. I'd always recommend genuine bits but Calipers will only be made by a few manufacturers and they are already fitted with hoses etc, I'd just get the hook bent to work but still replace the cables...
  22. Yeah - I don't think that bit is available seperatly (not from VW anyway) Maybe try a Lucas dealer or just get them off (1 x 13mm nut) and get it heated up and bent slightly
  23. Leave the pack on the car for a bit mate and try it... whats the battery voltage? if it's dropped below 3v a couple of times then Lead Acid Bats will struggle to recover New battery maybe? should last 4 weeks really no probs, Tim started his the other day after over 6 I think, started first turn - got to love VW's!
  24. Just looking at the pic again, the cable looks original and genuine so probably worth changing anyway (you don't want new calipers binding because of old cables) But, I'm sure the caliper is the issue and the guy is just trying to fob you off - the bit at the end can be changed easily on the car if he posts them out, looks far to wide in the pic!
